Jeanne Colin began in 2017 as a dancer and performer with Ayelen Parolin, Éric
Minh Cuong Castaing, Tumbleweed, Louise Vanneste... exploring the relationship
between movement and the unconscious, blending disciplines and practices such as
dance, hypnosis and drawing. With Abysses, the young choreographer continues
this exploration by focusing on dreams and REM sleep, a state of rest in which
nightmares and fear prevail. Starting from this dichotomy between reality and
fiction, feeling and imagination, her piece begins in the form of a reading
after which she allows the body and senses to drift towards a free, liberated
dance. Playing physically and metaphorically with ropes, knots and lianas,
Abysses connects what is hidden and divided.

In S 62° 58', W 60° 39' a ship has run aground and is stuck between icebergs. A small community is trapped in this dangerous, forsaken land. They survive guided only by nature and wait for the ice to meltso they can continue their journey. Suddenly the play becomes a performance within a performance as we land in an alternate reality: that of the artists and director creating the play. Are we seeing the character or the artist playing the character? In a sense, the real performance plays out in the heads of the audience members. But what is acting and what is real? Are the performers manipulated by the director, or do they manipulate him? And what about the audience? Who manipulates who?
With S 62° 58', W 60° 39' Peeping Tom presents a new, visually impressive, cinematographic performance that investigates human relations, daily manipulations and intergenerational spirits, but that also digs deep into artistry, into what it means to surrender to the stage as a performer, and the falsehoods in what is presented as real.
