Description

This workshop will be open to pre-professional dancers age 15+. The program will consist of daily classes in ballet, improvisation and will feature repertoire by world renowned choreographers Alexander Ekman and Johan Inger.

In order to preserve an intimate working environment, limited spots are available!

TEACHERS

Jesse Callaert (Ghent, Belgium) studied at the Royal Ballet School Antwerp for 6 years, which provided him with a professional ballet training and a base for modern and contemporary dance. After graduating in 2017 and having danced as a guest dancer with Ballett Zürich, he joined the prestigious Nederlands Dans Theater 2 where he danced for 4 years. In July 2021 he then joined Staatsballett Hannover under the artistic direction of world renowned choreographer Marco Goecke. He has performed works by many choreographers including: Jiří Kylián, Sol León & Paul Lightfoot, Marco Goecke, Sharon Eyal, Ohad Naharin, Alexander Ekman, Johan Inger, Edward Clug, Medhi Walerski, Dimo Milev, Juliano Nunes, Nadav Zelner, Felix Landerer, Alexi Ratmansky, Ben Van Cauwenbergh and Yannick Boquin.

Jesse has also choreographed pieces for the annual edition of 'Switch by NDT Dancers' as well as for the Royal Ballet School Antwerp, creates a broad variety of music compositions and participates in film, fashion or tv projects alongside hosting his own podcast 'Fase II Fase’.

Mikaela Kelly (New York City, USA) is a 2017 Princess Grace Award Winner in dance. She studied at American Ballet Theatre's pre-professional school where she aquired a strong classical ballet technique and completed her certification in ABT's National Training Curriculum for Teachers. In 2018, she graduated from The Juilliard School's four year Bachelor of Fine Arts program and joined Nederlands Dans Theater 2. Mikaela has performed works by many choreographers including: Jiří Kylián, Sol León & Paul Lightfoot, Nacho Duato, Ohad Naharin, Marco Goecke, Sharon Eyal, Alexander Ekman, Johan Inger, Marcos Morau, Edward Clug, Medhi Walerski, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Yoann Bourgeois, Aszure Barton, Felix Landerer, Bryan Arias, Dimo Milev, Alexi Ratmansky, George Balanchine, Merce Cunningham, Paul Taylor and José Limón. 

Mikaela has also designed costumes for critically acclaimed choreographer Juliano Nunes and for Norwegian National Ballet, Philadelphia Ballet, Origins Dance Festival, V-Create, Orsolina 28, and Switch by NDT Dancers.

Over de voorstelling Iemand: "Doe nu eens rustig, man! Laat het allemaal los." Bert: "Oké... maar hoe dan?" In zijn tweede muzikale solovoorstelling 'Stroom' gaat Bert Van Puymbroeck op zoek naar 'inner peace'. Hij neemt het publiek mee in zijn zoektocht en dompelt hen onder in zijn ontdekkingen over de mind-body connectie. Gefascineerd en gebiologeerd door de menselijke psychologie ontrafelt hij de schoonheid van jezelf ontdekken op een 'alternatieve' manier. Een verbindend gesprek tussen een zoekend publiek en een zoekende mens. Wat vooraf ging Voor deze nieuwe theatervoorstelling is Bert in gesprek gegaan met therapeuten en coaches uit de alternatieve gezondheidszorg en coachingswereld. Hij was benieuwd naar een andere blik op de wereld. Hij ontdekte tijdens zijn vooronderzoek een aantal op het eerste zicht rare en bizarre methodes en therapieën. Hij probeerde tijdens de gesprekken het hoe en waarom van sommige methodes te ontrafelen en vroeg de geïnterviewden: Wat is 'inner peace'? Hoe kan ik het zelf ervaren? Hangar Festival is an electronic music festival happening on the last weekend of April. During these two days, Hangar offers world-renowned artists the chance to reconnect with their Belgian audiences in a breathtaking setting. A show that's as musical as it is visual, an immersive scenography and a production designed down to the last detail to make its customers feel at home. Located on the outskirts of Brussels, the Hangar Festival is easily accessible by public transport, bike or car, with parking available. It will welcome approximately 4,000 people a day. With the help of the Red Cross and Brussels-based prevention organizations, we aim to make the Hangar Festival a place where festival-goers can feel safe, meet, unite and share their passion for music. ********** English ********** Jeanne Colin began in 2017 as a dancer and performer with Ayelen Parolin, Éric Minh Cuong Castaing, Tumbleweed, Louise Vanneste... exploring the relationship between movement and the unconscious, blending disciplines and practices such as dance, hypnosis and drawing. With Abysses, the young choreographer continues this exploration by focusing on dreams and REM sleep, a state of rest in which nightmares and fear prevail. Starting from this dichotomy between reality and fiction, feeling and imagination, her piece begins in the form of a reading after which she allows the body and senses to drift towards a free, liberated dance. Abysses speelt fysiek en metaforisch met touwen, knopen en lianen en verbindt wat verborgen en verdeeld is.

Jong, oud en iedereen met twee linkervoeten is uitgenodigd om dit jaar mee te doen Je kan bijvoorbeeld meedoen met 'sylvan' van Sara Tan & Eric Bribosia. Als je kleinere kinderen hebt of de kriebels voelt om je stoffige dansschoenen uit de kast te trekken, kom dan naar Sara's workshops en je krijgt de kans om samen met ons op te treden. De tieners van het Dancing Kids Dans en Performance programma van Rosas brengen 'Mini Wave', een danswerk waarin ze moeten onderhandelen, compromissen sluiten en samenwerken terwijl ze improviseren en door rigide structuren navigeren. Briana Ashley Stuart creëert muziek met haar lichaam door middel van traditionele afro-amerikaanse stepping in 'Becoming Together'. Haar energie is aanstekelijk, je kan je niet inhouden om met je voeten te tikken of mee te klappen. Een triowerk van MaRoNes leidt je door een mediatieve reis. Met 'Listening the Trees with you Eyes wide Open' ontdekken we hoe aanraking je zorg kan bieden.

That's the story Julie and Johann invent while in the midst of moving, soon joined by Barthélémy. The trio explores the palette of emotions universally shared by the animal kingdom, humans included. Social relationships and the animal world captivate Barthélémy Manias and Johann Fourrière, alias Barjo&Cie. With Julie Querre in the team, the company relies on the work of psychologists and ethologists to unfold a physical language of emotional states. Involving both the face and the body, their choreographic lexicon magnifies everyday gestures, evokes the bestiary of various cultures, dares pure abstraction, and borrows some gimmicks from pantomime. "Human beings are animals like any other, and like all species, we share, feel, and express different universal emotions." Similarities and differences in behavior thus become "an inexhaustible source to develop a clear and imaginative movement language." Famous or unknown - from Rameau to Gottschalk, from Rossini to Saint-Saëns - "animal scores" form the soundtrack of "Bas les pattes." ********** Français ********** Quand un bestiaire illustré métamorphose celles et ceux qui le feuillettent... Avec ici Julie Querre, l’équipe s’appuie sur des travaux de psychologues et d’éthologues pour déployer un langage physique des états émotionnels. Impliquant tant le visage que le corps, leur lexique chorégraphique place sous la loupe des gestes du quotidien, évoque le bestiaire de diverses cultures, ose l’abstraction pure, voire emprunte à la pantomime certains de ses gimmicks. "L’être humain est un animal comme les autres, et comme toutes les espèces, nous partageons, ressentons, et exprimons différentes émotions universelles." Similitudes et différences de comportements deviennent ainsi "une mine d’or inépuisable pour développer une gestuelle claire et imagée".
