Her talk will include personal stories and perspectives from a lifetime's experience working with Aid, Development and Human Rights organisations worldwide. She will be reading extracts from her Memoir, The Space Between Black and White, about her Mixed Race identity, and how it informs her political activism and personal philosophy. "Je vous parle de retomber en amour pour une poétesse. Lue trop jeune, trop vite, trop avidement. Lue avant d'être mère, avant d'être militante, avant d'être écrivaine. Je vous parle d'invitation à l'irrésolution, de fougue et de lyrisme. Je vous parle de murs, de fugues, de blessures, de multiples prisons. Je vous parle d’une autre époque et de la nôtre. Chorale, collage, hasard de rencontres. Lila Boses (documentariste), Vanessa Desclaux (critique d'art) et Agnès Geoffray (photographe) en parleront aussi. Het zijn unieke, veeleisende vrouwen die in hun oeuvre hun persoonlijke leed overstijgen. Ze onderhielden een tragische relatie met het leven van alledag, dat ze middelmatig en oninteressant vonden. Maar wordt die ‘alledaagsheid’ nu niet juist als een historisch gegeven beleefd? Het dagelijkse leven in het vooroorlogse Parijs, tijdens de Roaring Twenties, in het stalinistische Rusland… Hoe doe je een oeuvre herleven via het levensverhaal van zijn auteur? Lydie Salvayre beoefent die ‘portretkunst’ – die de 20ste-eeuwse filosoof E.M. Cioran en de 19de-eeuwse literatuurcriticus Sainte-Beuve vóór haar al met groot succes bedreven – door schrijfsters uit te kiezen die haar leven hebben beïnvloed en dus haar werk hebben gevoed: Emily Brönte (1818-1848), Colette (1873-1954), Virginia Woolf (1882-1941), Djuna Barnes (1892-1982), Marina Tsvetaeva (1892-1941), Ingeborg Bachmann (1926-1973) en Sylvia Plath (1932-1963). Hun laatste voorstelling, Une cérémonie, is ontstaan als een proeftuin waar ze Don Quichot, Henri Michaux, Antonin Artaud en de surrealistische schrijfexperimenten met elkaar kruisen. Les Midis de la Poésie nodigt de acteurs uit om een aantal teksten die hen inspireren voor te lezen en te vertellen waarom ze hen aangrijpen. ********** English ********** Midis de la Poésie offers reading performances, literary lectures, workshops and poetic aperitifs which are opportunities to address current topics and poetry in the widest sense.
