Les notions d’honnêteté, de sincérité, d’empathie, de joie de vivre, d’amour, de gaieté permanente, d’écoute et de partage… sont des valeurs qui lui sont propres et la caractérisent. Jamila a cette faculté hors du commun de voir la vie sous ses meilleurs angles … de manière positive. C’est là où se trouve son génie. De par sa résilience, elle a fait du confinement, un moyen d’exercer un art qu’est la peinture. Et très vite, ses tableaux, réalisés avec passion, se suivirent et révélaient en elle, un talent caché qui ne cherchait qu’à s’exprimer. On y trouve de la profondeur et de la justesse émotionnelle. Ces peintures révèlent les regards que peuvent véhiculer notre société où tout est normé. Ce qui n’est pas dans la norme est anormal voire une anomalie. Les 1001 regards sont peut-être l’expression des 1001 regards posés sur l’artiste durant toute sa vie. Ces regards, tantôt biaisés, tantôt ambivalents, expriment différentes émotions telle la tristesse, la surprise, l’indifférence, la colère, la peur, la terreur, la douleur, le dégoût, le rejet … mais aussi des émotions positives, de joie, de gaieté, de bonheur et d’amour. A travers ces 1001 regards, il y a un enjeu sociétal, celui du respect de nos différences. Cette exposition est une ode à la joie, à la bonne humeur et avant tout une ode à s’accepter tel que nous sommes.

In 2018 speelde zijn metalband Diablo Blvd haar zwanenzang in een nokvolle AB in Brussel. Alex Agnew is echter nog niet uitgezongen. Wat begon als een eenmalig optreden voor het concept “Bloemen noch kransen”, waarin Alex Agnew samen met The Moonlovers een eerbetoon mocht brengen aan zijn eerste muzikale held Jim Morrison en diens band The Doors, werd al snel een concertervaring die te uniek was om nooit meer te herhalen. Dit is geen tribute-band. Dit is geen avondje covers. Dit is Alex Agnew & The Moonlovers perform The Doors. Annexée à la programmation du MACS (Grand-Hornu) en tant que projet extra-muros, l’installation d’Alec De Busschère, "Memory Cache Collection 99", se présente comme un dédale d’images imprimées sur de fins grands voiles librement suspendus dans l’espace d’exposition. Cette architecture translucide dans laquelle le public est invité à déambuler et à se perdre est d’autant plus déroutante que le moindre courant d’air peut en modifier l’orientation des cloisons grâce à un ingénieux mécanisme de suspension. Le spectacle de ces images fantomatiques prend alors une dimension légèrement cinétique, voire cinématographique, résultant de l’instabilité des voiles, de la circulation des spectateurs comme des effets de surimpressions et de fondus enchaînés. Labyrinthique et kaléidoscopique, le dispositif a l’apparence d’un « théâtre de la mémoire », cet outil mnémotechnique qui localise sur un plan de distribution architectural les images parcellaires d’une histoire à reconstituer. Cette connotation archéologique prend aussi son sens quand on sait que ce matériau visuel fut extrait, en 1999, de la mémoire de plusieurs ordinateurs personnels : des « fichiers caches » récupérés par l’artiste pour réaliser, à l’époque, sa vidéo "Keep the cache in memory". Des images pauvres en informations et qualité, orphelines de leurs auteurs et de leurs sites internet d’origine s’y enchaînaient les unes aux autres à un rythme quasi stroboscopique, témoin de la frénésie qui s’était emparée de toute une génération de navigateurs insomniaques. Vingt-cinq ans plus tard, Alec De Busschère revient sur cet océan d’archives pour en livrer une vision diamétralement opposée : des images dont il a diminué le nombre, agrandi la taille et ralenti la vitesse, comme une manière aussi de leur donner, malgré leur superficialité, l’épaisseur existentielle d’un geste humain et de sa trace, même technologique. A unique collaboration between two living legends in the game: Evan Baggs & Francesco Del Garda. Vinyl culture at the highest level. For nearly two decades and fueled by a deep passion for recording digging, Evan Baggs has been breaking boundaries with an expansive sound on the outer edges of house and techno. The vibe is equal parts Berlin — his home since 2007 — and his hometown of New York, where a diverse underground scene first inspired his unique approach to DJing and music making since 1998. Francesco Del Garda’s passion for what he does is clear for all to see: he plays with a smile on his face and gets as much enjoyment from his work as the dancers in front of him. They like to get up close and personal, too, because his sets are filled with unknown gems, overlooked gold and speak of his obsession for unique sounds.

********** English ********** In the exhibition MOON RIVER, Bart Vandevijvere and Steven Antonio Manes explore common ground. They find it in their shared identities. For instance, the concept of water is inherent in the surname Vandevijvere, which on one hand, refers to the artist's residence by the River Lys (Leie), and on the other, to the importance of rippling/movement in his work. Similarly, "Manes" evokes a metaphor, reminiscent of moonlight, the reflection of the moon. This glow creates an interplay that encapsulates both surface and universe.Their specific artistic journeys are thus connected through this onomastics. The moon and its reflection on the river visually represent their collaboration. In MOON RIVER, light, time, and space transcend individual artistry. ********** Français ********** Dans l'exposition MOON RIVER, Bart Vandevijvere (°1961) et Steven Antonio Manes (°1993) cherchent des points communs dans leurs œuvres. Ces points communs se trouvent déjà dans leurs identités. Il y a, par exemple, la notion d'eau qui se trouve dans le nom de famille de Bart: Vandevijvere. L’étang fait en effet référence, d'une part, au lieu de résidence de l'artiste sur les bords de la Lys (de Leie) et, de l’autre part, à l'importance de l'ondulation et du mouvement comme celle de l’eau, dans son œuvre. Le nom Manes semble également être une métaphore. Il évoque le clair de lune, le reflet de la lune dans l’eau. Cette lueur crée une interaction dans laquelle la surface et l'univers sont contenus. Leurs trajectoires particulières artistiques se rejoignent ainsi dans cette onomastique. La lune et son reflet sur la rivière sont une représentation visuelle de leur collaboration. La lumière, le temps et l'espace transcendent l'art individuel dans notre exposition MOON RIVER. ********** Nederlands ********** In de tentoonstelling MOON RIVER zoeken Bart Vandevijvere (1961) en Steven Antonio Manes (1993) naar raakvlakken. Die vinden ze al terug in hun beider identiteit. Zo is er bijvoorbeeld het gegeven van water in de familienaam Vandevijvere. Die doet denken aan maanlicht, de reflectie van de maan. Dat schijnsel zorgt voor een wisselwerking waarin zowel oppervlakte als universum vervat zijn. Hun specifieke artistieke parcours verbinden zich op die manier in deze onomastiek. De maan en haar reflectie op de rivier is een beeldende weergave van hun samenwerking. Licht, tijd en ruimte overstijgen in MOON RIVER het individuele kunstenaarschap.
