<div>Working with Communities: Jessy KoeimanEvery academic year, S.M.A.K, Ghent University and Curatorial Studies of KASK &amp; School of Arts jointly organize the series of Curatorial Lectures. Jessy Koeiman’s opens the lecture series under this year's theme of ‘Working with Communities’.Curators connect communities with cultural institutions. They engage with communities, ensure accessibility, address social issues, and build trust between different stakeholders. This year’s series ‘Working with Communities’ invites practitioners to discuss the role of curating in shaping communities and relationships. How can curatorial work reveal power dynamics and offer alternative social imaginaries? Artist and curator Jessy Koeiman, has been a programmer for Collective Learning at Kunstinstituut Melly since 2018. The program is dedicated to creating experimental and collaborative learning opportunities that bring together diverse voices. Collective Learning challenges traditional hierarchies of thought and action, empowering young individuals and communities to become cultural agents equipped to effect positive change in their immediate surroundings. The ground-floor gallery, MELLY, serves as the central hub for the program’s wide range of collective learning events, workshops, and presentations.During her studies in Lifestyle &amp; Design (2013-2017) at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam, Jessy Koeiman specialized in styling and photography while maintaining a keen interest in visual culture and critical studies. Her work as a visual artist primarily explores socio-cultural intersectionality, identity, and spirituality. In 2020, Jessy completed the "Inclusive Leadership" course at the Academy for Cultural Management. In 2021, she curated her first exhibition titled "BACK IN THE DAY IS OUR FUTURE," which was exhibited at the Melkweg in Amsterdam.</div>

So be sure to be there and help expand Ghent's street culture.

<div><h3>H﻿ow it works</h3>Tijdens dit exclusieve en intieme concert kun je een van de 50 matjes en kussens uitkiezen en je nestelen rond de vleugelpiano. Het concert duurt ongeveer 1 uur. Er zijn geen pauzes. Na het concert kan je rustig de stad weer in trekken._﻿___During this exclusive and intimate concert, you can pick one of 50 mats and cushions and settle around the grand piano. The concert lasts about 1 hour continuously. There are no breaks. After the concert, you can take your time to go back into town. <h3>S﻿int Baafshuis?</h3>Het Sint Baafshuis ligt pal in het centrum van Gent naast de Sint Baafskathedraal waar Van Eycks 'de Aanbidding van het Lam Gods' hangt. Het gebouw heeft een lange en rijke geschiedenis die teruggaat tot de 16e eeuw en diende als seminarie, school en internaat. Vandaag is het volledig gerestaureerd. Het concert vindt plaats rond de vleugel in de prachtige intieme concertruimte op de bovenste verdieping._﻿___Sint Baafshuis is located in the very center of Ghent next to St. Baafs Cathedral with Van Eycks work the Adoration of the Mystic Lamb. The building has a long and rich history dating back to the 16th century and served as a seminary, school and boarding school. Today it has been fully restored. The concert will take place around the grand piano in the beautiful intimate concert space on the top floor. <h3>M﻿attias Devriendt?</h3>Mattias Devriendt leerde piano spelen op 9-jarige leeftijd. Hij woont in Gent. Sinds 2022 speelt hij lying down concerts. Geen Mozart, Beethoven of Schubert, maar eigen werk. Zijn belangrijkste invloeden zijn Radiohead, Philip Glass, Nicolas Jaar, The Album Leaf, Nils Frahm en Jóhann Jóhannsson._﻿___Mattias Devriendt learned to play the piano at the age of 9. He lives in Ghent. Since 2022, he plays lying down piano concerts. No Mozart, Beethoven or Schubert, but his own work.
