Description
Feest! De langverwachte uitbreiding van het museum komt eraan, tijd om de collectie een laatste keer voor de tijdelijke sluiting te tonen door de blik van het Gentse ontwerpersduo Muller Van Severen. Zij vieren dit jaar hun 10-jarig bestaan. Fien Muller en Hannes Van Severen werken al sinds 2011 aan een inspirerend oeuvre van sculpturale meubelstukken en objecten. Deze eerste grote tentoonstelling in hun thuisstad viert dit jubileum in twee delen. Op vraag van Design Museum Gent gingen de ontwerpers aan de slag met de uitzonderlijke collectie van het museum. Hun intuïtieve en eclectische selectie van een 100-tal collectiestukken gaat in dialoog met eigen werk in een grote installatie op het gelijkvloers van het museum. In de historische salons tonen ze hun parcours door de blik van 10 sleutelfiguren die mee hun pad hebben bepaald.

À l’occasion de la sortie du nouveau volume de son anthologie sonore des
phénomènes occultes, l'auteur et réalisateur radio Philippe Baudouin vient
présenter son projet Spectra Ex Machina (Sub Rosa), lors d'une soirée
exceptionnelle.
Le second volume de cette anthologie sonore explore les liens entre musique et
médiumnité, art vocal et sorcellerie : Aleister Crowley, Uri Geller, Rosemary
Brown ou bien encore Elvis Presley font ainsi résonner leur voix de l'au-delà.
Au programme de cette soirée : séance d'écoute de quelques extraits du disque et
discussion avec Philippe Baudouin, Stéphanie Peel et Christian Chelman sur
l'histoire du spiritisme et ses croisements inattendus avec la question
musicale.
À cette occasion, les deux premiers volumes de Spectra Ex Machina seront
proposés à la vente.
Philippe Baudouin est réalisateur radio et maître de conférences associé à
l’Université Paris-Saclay. Il est l’auteur de plusieurs ouvrages et articles sur
l’histoire de l’occultisme dont Apparitions : Les Archives de la France hantée
(Hoëbeke, 2021) et Surnaturelles : une histoire visuelle des femmes médiums
(Pyramyd, 2021). Depuis 2019, il poursuit en collaboration avec le label Sub
Rosa le projet Spectra Ex Machina, consacré aux archives sonores du paranormal.
Stéphanie Peel est chercheuse indépendante et doctorante à l’Université libre de
Bruxelles. Son compte Instagram « Les Occultées » est consacré à l’histoire des
femmes médiums.
Christian Chelman est illusionniste et collectionneur. Il est également le
fondateur et l’actuel conservateur du Surnatéum, Muséum d’Histoire Surnaturelle
de Bruxelles.
Avec pas moins de 20 dates en France et en Europe, art3f débarque pour la
seconde fois à Kortrijk Xpo du 24 au 26 mai.
À un jet de cailloux de Lille, de Gand et de Bruges, Courtrai est la ville
flamande idéale pour un salon international d’art contemporain à la fois
qualitatif et décontracté.
Après le succès de la première édition, art3f compte bien s’installer de façon
pérenne dans le paysage des foires et salons d’art en Belgique.

titre de ‘’ Peintre Officiel de la Marine Belge ‘’ Stéphan vous invite à
partager cette découverte.

Stéphan Aelterman schildert al zo'n vijftig jaar.
Na zijn studie binnenhuisarchitectuur werden tekenen en aquarelleren een
integraal onderdeel van zijn artistieke werk.
Nieuwsgierig en gepassioneerd door boten en de maritieme wereld, kreeg hij in
2018 de titel van "Officieel Schilder van de Belgische Marine". Stéphan nodigt
je uit om te delen in deze ontdekking.

Liefhebbers van literatuur kunnen zich verkneukelen aan onze literaire wandeling
in de adembenemende setting van het museum.
Ga op reis met bekende schrijvers en luister naar sterke, spannende, geestige en
ontroerende verhalen. De wandeling neemt je mee in de tijd, maar bespeelt vooral
jouw verbeelding.
De wandeling gebeurt onder begeleiding van een professioneel acteur. Koen Van
Impe brengt je de Nederlandstalige vertolking. Bruno Georis neemt de Franstalige
uitvoering op zich.
Per wandeling kunnen er maximum 20 personen mee.

à travers le musée. Cette animation a été développée en collaboration avec
Amusea (www.amusea.com).
Partez avec Victor Hugo, Jean de La Fontaine, Alfred de Vigny et bien d'autres
grands écrivains pour un voyage à travers le temps, la littérature et
l’imaginaire des poètes.
Les promenades sont interprétées par des comédiens professionnels. Il y aura une
sessions en français, avec Bruno Georis et en néerlandais avec Koen Van Impe.
Nous acceptons 20 personnes maximum par promenade.

setting of the museum.
Go on a journey with some well-known writers and listen to some strong,
exciting, lively and moving stories. The walk will take you through time, but
mainly plays upon your imagination.
The walk will take place under the supervision of a professional actor. Koen Van
Impe will give you the Dutch rendition. Bruno Georis will provide the French
version.

De werken van Elodie Antoine hebben een speelse en dubbelzinnige dimensie. Ze
houdt van tegenstrijdigheden, van het uitlokken van het vreemde door een spel
van ontmoetingen, en van de mogelijkheden die ontstaan tijdens het creatieve
proces, die haar van het ene naar het andere punt leiden. De draden van haar
gedachten woekeren, bestuiven elkaar en verspreiden zich om een soort mycelium
te vormen, een soort zwam, een organisme dat ook vaak voorkomt in haar werk. Op
deze manier creëert ze een organische esthetiek met vele, slim met elkaar
verbonden facetten, zoals de vreemde voetbal waarvan elke zeshoek versierd is
met een roze vilten tepel.

Si les œuvres d’Elodie Antoine contiennent une dimension ludique et ambiguë,
c’est que l’artiste aime à travailler avec les ambivalences, susciter
l’étrangeté par un jeu de rencontres, exploiter les opportunités qui se tissent
au fil de sa démarche, un point l'entraînant vers un autre. Les filaments de sa
pensée prolifèrent, se contaminent et s’étendent pour former un réseau
micellaire semblable à celui des champignons, organismes qui colonisent
également son travail. L’artiste construit ainsi une esthétique organique aux
multiples facettes savamment liées les unes aux autres, à l’image de cet étrange
ballon de foot dont chaque hexagone est orné d’un téton de feutre rose.

obscures, le rêve et le cauchemar peuplé de monstres ou de chimères… Place au

Après la visite de l’exposition, place à l’action et à l’exploration du mystère
au cœur de cinq espaces créatifs et immersifs !

Het surrealisme wordt 100 jaar en dat vieren we! Dromen en nachtmerries vol
monsters en hersenschimmen leiden ons langs donkere wouden en brengen ons naar
onbekende plekken.
Na het bezoek aan de tentoonstelling ontdekken we creatieve mogelijkheden,
duiken we dieper in het mysterie en ontwikkelen onze eigen voorstelling ervan.
Terwijl de kinderen een nieuwe wereld ontdekken tijdens de rondleiding met
workshop, kunnen de volwassenen met een gids (info en tickets hier) of op eigen
houtje (tickets) de tentoonstelling bezoeken.
Emilie Danchin conveys questions in her work pertaining to the realism of
photography by involving the body in the pho- tographic space. It is very
vibrant as well as an organic ad- venture. Emilie Danchin does not photograph
reality as such, but a kind of dream rooted in the subject, to a certain extent
a somewhat inhabited or animated dreamy reality. To this effect, the
photographic act extends to a personal phenome- nology and the progressive
creation of a visual language ca- pable of relaying a personal experience
charged with images and emotions that, universally recognisable, are likely to
stir viewers’ feelings, disrupt thought and trigger dreams.
Emilie Danchin introduces here Le Bois des Rêves, the culmi- nation of a
performance and photographic work achieved in a property that is noteworthy in
terms of its architecture, as well as its gardens, in the Arts-and-Crafts style.
This heritage site lent itself to her proposal to have the freedom to take over
a space and a body, hers in this case. She tackles the question of origins in a
foreign place in a paradoxical way. It substitutes a space that no longer
exists, which represents her origins.
This property conjured up, through a combination of me- mories, her own English
place of birth, the houses belonging to her grandmothers, their gardens in the
countryside and seaside, baths, woodworks, smells, clothes, furniture, musica-
lity... a whole atmosphere that is generally, culturally familiar to her. And at
the same time, it recalled absence, missing people, invasion and emptiness of
the body and a house that until recently remained within the same family, loss
and the parentage that was interrupted.
By means of self-portrait, Emilie Danchin wondered what the inside of the house
would look like. How would the emotions generated by the exterior of the house
be conveyed in her outside landscapes? How would she extri- cate her body from
the matter to render it in a landscape having similar characteristics? How would
time intervene in this memory-enhanced place where her own body, her robe and
some of her clothes combined with those that belonged to three generations of
women, the house, gar- den, the photographic act itself have jointly become the
template for a vital identity-related fiction? Her aim was to found her hope of
investing a space, materialising and filling a form of absence, the place of the
origins, a kind of double of another imaginary space, distant and close,
inaccessible, erased, deleted, having left the body and the house and
nevertheless, inalienable yet.
Le Bois des Rêves is carried by the the artist’s body postures, which has become
a sensitive measure of the evocative potential of the place. Equally, the place
has given live to non-material memories, the vague outlines of which could not
have stood out without this inseparable staging of her body and the space. The
photographic medium is presented in a variety of aspects, black and white,
colour, varying formats and scales, as well as dialogue between fiction and
observation. Video is added to this. Processed as stills, this lends the
ensemble a form of heartbeat in real time as such of perception through gaze.
This results in
an art form in several phases, the assembly of which in its entirety impresses a
circular motion in space and physically creates time. Intimating the desire to
go on reconnais- sance, this photographic form espouses the volatility of space
and time, emotions, dreams and the sense of self. One marvels before the
representation of the memory space, whose autobiographical form is that of an
absolute memory and of a dream.
