Jean-Bernard Métais - 'Ivresse'

La Galerie La Forest Divonne présente Ivresse, une exposition de photographies de Jean-Bernard Métais. Ces photos ont toutes le même cadrage, toutes le même sujet : des cuves de vin… Toujours un même cercle inscrit dans les rebords carrés de l’image. Dans cet espace restreint, pourtant, c’est toute la diversité de la biologie, de la matière, des formes et des couleurs qui se décline sous nos yeux ébahis. En voyageant d’une image à l’autre on ne sait plus si on est collé à la lentille d’un microscope ou à celle d’un télescope. La frontière entre l’infiniment petit et l’infiniment grand est abolie. Métais nous entraine dans sa vision poétique du monde, et le jus de raisin devient voie lactée, le dépôt qu’il laisse derrière lui, delta d’un fleuve, le sable, rétine…. L’alchimie du vigneron qui transforme le fruit en nectar rejoint celle de l’artiste qui transforme le réel en un chant poétique.

Van 10 februari tot 19 maart loopt in Galerie La Forest Divonne de fototentoonstellingIvresse van Jean-Bernard Métais. Deze foto’s hebben allemaal dezelfde kadrering,hetzelfde onderwerp: wijnvaten... Altijd eenzelfde cirkel binnen de vierkante randen van de afbeelding. Maar op dat kleine oppervlak zien we tot onze verbazing een rijke diversiteit aan levende organismen, materiaal, vormen en kleuren. De opeenvolgende foto’s brengen ons in verwarring of we door de lenzen van een microscoop dan wel een telescoop aan het kijken zijn. De grens tussen het oneindig kleine en oneindig grote is weggevallen. Métais neemt ons mee in zijn poëtische visie op de wereld. En het druivensap wordt melkweg, het bezinksel een rivier, een retina, zand... De alchemie van de wijnbouwer die druiven verwerkt tot nectar is verwant met die van de artiest die de werkelijkheid omzet in een poëtisch lied.

The Galerie La Forest Divonne presents Ivresse, an exhibition of photographs by Jean-Bernard Métais. These photos all have the same framing, all the same subject: wine vats… Always the same circle inscribed in the square edges of the image. In this restricted space, however, it is all the diversity of biology, matter, forms and colors that is displayed before our amazed eyes. Traveling from one image to another, we no longer know if we are glued to the lens of a microscope or a telescope. The border between the infinitely small and the infinitely large is abolished. Métais takes us into his poetic vision of the world, and the grape juice becomes a milky way, the deposit it leaves behind, the delta of a river, the sand, the retina …. The alchemy of the winemaker who transforms the fruit into nectar joins that of the artist who transforms reality into a poetic song.
