Paganini, and a piece chosen from among 3 Romances op. 22 by Clara Schumann ; Impromptu concertant by George Enescu ; or Dryades et Pan, excerpt of Mythes op. 30 by Karol Szymanowski. The jury chooses which works or parts of works each candidate must perform.

This inspires him to perform a mix of his own compositions and well-known works. The kanun (or qanûn) is a typical Eastern stringed and plucked instrument. The combination with trumpet and percussion is no coincidence either: they are important instruments in the Middle Eastern music scene. Lors de ce concert, il vous présente une sélection de ses propres compositions et d’œuvres connues sur son qanun, un instrument à cordes pincées, de la famille des cythares, propre à cette région du globe. Dans ce concert, le qanun dialoguera avec la trompette et les percussions, des instruments qui occupent une place prépondérante sur la scène musicale du Moyen-Orient. These elements were part of an ideal landscape even back in classical antiquity, a landscape that would once have been there in a lost Golden Age at the beginning of human history. Underlying Herreweghe’s programme is the novel of the same name by Neapolitan Jacopo Sannazaro, one of the most widely read works of the 16th century that profoundly influenced European poetry, painting, and music. Thus, the book stimulated the imagination of composers such as Marenzio, Monteverdi, and Rossi for beautiful madrigals. A throwback to Collegium Vocale Gent, which proves that it also firmly holds its ground in finely crafted structures. ********** Français ********** L’Arcadie est une terre mythique peuplée de fleurs, de fruits et de forêts, d’eau claire et de chants d’oiseaux où l’été est éternel. ********** English ********** La Compagnia del Corpo Nero, led by Floris De Rycker, presents an intimate program for violin, lute, and lautenwerck featuring music from the eldest son of Johann Sebastian Bach, Wilhelm Friedemann Bach (1710-1784). He is one of the early representatives of the Sturm und Drang movement, where subjectivity in music becomes important. This leads to surprising compositions with many mood changes and contrasts. Lautenwerck - a hybrid instrument between harpsichord and lute - is a special instrument that was present in the Bach family's home. The gut strings of this instrument create a unique sound. "The realization of ultimate beauty - including vocal coloration! - requires, all things considered, the most powerful conceivable artistic and technical impulse. Piano-Violon "Autour de Fauré" Céline Bodson, Violon & Manon Gertsch, Piano WEBERN-PROKOFIEV-FAURE-BEETHOVEN 2024 est l'année Gabriel Fauré, puisque nous célébrons le centenaire de sa disparition. Nous vous avons donc préparé pour l'occasion sa première sonate pour violon et piano. Fauré est déjà tout entier dans cette partition, où l'on retrouve ses sonorités curieuses et ses rythmes imprévus. Une page de Anton Webern et deux mélodies de Sergei Prokofiev ouvrent le récital. En seconde partie et pour terminer sur une note printanière, nous jouerons la 5ème sonate de Beethoven remplie d'allegresse et de joie de vivre. "Eveille-toi, le soleil luit" pourrait-être le titre de ce programme, dans les infinies modulations de la sonate de Fauré, dans l'insouciance de ces pages de Prokofiev et Beethoven, dans l'aube silencieuse qui apparait d'un seul souflle dans cette courte pièce de Webern, la caresse du vent.
