De Weiblicher Akt speelt de ander (v.)

After twelve volumes in which Maatschappij Discordia mirrored themselves to female characters and authors (such as Susan Sontag, Elfriede Jelinek, ...) and in which they tried to rewrite history where necessary, in volume 13 of the Weiblicher Akt, they embark on a search for 'the other' via 'the other story'. That is the story that is not only 'different' because it is told from a different sex, but also from a different gender, culture or social class. During this search for this other story, they run the risk of getting so lost in all the stories and theories about stories that the whole 'otherness' seems to dissolve into it...It is, among others, based on The 36 Dramatic Situations by Georges Polti, The Unlived Life by Adam Philips and Holding Space by Aminata Cairo. "What a relief, to see actors having such genuine and infectious fun thinking out loud." — NRC"In the face of the other, I am made. Emmanuel Levinas (1906-1995) With that sentence as a common thread, the actors in the play attempt to convey in a constantly meandering, sometimes inimitable and often witty narrative the other. — Volkskrant • Maatschappij Discordia is a collective of emancipated actors that for decades has been performing at Kaaitheater and is back in Brussels with two performances. The company was single-handedly responsible for the renewal of text theatre in the Low Countries; they introduced a thinking play in the moment, the use of costumes and designer fashions, furniture and objects and an inquisitive, questioning and open text treatment.  We are certainly looking forward to their lively and playful work.

Après douze volumes au cours desquels Maatschappij Discordia s’est penché sur des personnages et des autrices (entre autres Susan Sontag, Elfriede Jelinek, ...) et dans lesquels iels ont tenté de réécrire l'histoire lorsque cela s'avérait nécessaire, le treizième volume du Weiblicher Akt part à la recherche de "l'autre" par le biais de "l'autre histoire". L'histoire qui n'est pas seulement "différente" parce qu'elle est racontée par un autre sexe, mais aussi par un autre genre, une autre culture ou une classe sociale différente. Au cours de cette recherche de l'autre histoire, iels risquent de se perdre dans toutes les histoires et théories sur les récits, au point que la notion d'altérité semble se dissoudre dans l'histoire.Basé sur Les 36 situations dramatiques de Georges Polti, La Meilleure des vies. Eloge de la vie non-vécue d'Adam Philips et Holding Space d'Aminata Cairo notamment. "Quel soulagement de voir des acteur·ices prendre un plaisir aussi authentique et contagieux à penser à voix haute. (Volkskrant)• Maatschappij Discordia, le collectif d’acteur·ices émancipé·es qui se produit au Kaaitheater depuis des décennies, vient à Bruxelles avec deux représentations. La compagnie a été à elle seule à l’origine du renouveau du théâtre de texte aux Pays-Bas ; elle a introduit un jeu de réflexion dans l'instant, l'utilisation de costumes et de vêtements de créateur·ices, de meubles et d'objets, ainsi qu'un traitement du texte porteur de curiosité, d’interrogations et d’ouvertures.  C’est toujours avec impatience que nous attendons leur travail vivant et ludique.

Na twaalf delen waarin Maatschappij Discordia zich spiegelden aan vrouwelijke personages en auteurs (o.a. Susan Sontag, Elfriede Jelinek, ...) en waarin ze de geschiedenis waar nodig probeerden te herschrijven, gaan ze in deel dertien van de Weiblicher Akt driftig op zoek naar ‘de ander’ via ‘het andere verhaal’. Het verhaal dat niet alleen ‘anders’ is omdat het vanuit een andere sekse wordt verteld, maar ook vanuit een ander gender, een andere cultuur of sociale klasse. Tijdens de zoektocht naar dit andere verhaal dreigen ze zo verdwaald te raken in alle verhalen en theorieën over verhalen dat het hele ‘anders-zijn’ erin lijkt op te lossen…Gebaseerd op onder andere De 36 dramatische situaties van Georges Polti, Het ongeleefde leven van Adam Philips en Holding Space van Aminata Cairo. “Wat een verademing, om spelers zo oprecht en aanstekelijk plezier te zien hebben in het hardop denken.” — NRC “Ik word ik in het aangezicht van de ander. Emmanuel Levinas (1906-1995)  Met die zin als rode draad proberen de toneelspelers in een voortdurend meanderende, soms onnavolgbare en vaak geestige vertelling de ander te ontdekken.” — Volkskrant  • Maatschappij Discordia, het collectief van geëmancipeerde toneelspelers, dat sinds decennia in het Kaaitheater te zien is, komt met twee voorstellingen naar Brussel. Het gezelschap stond eigenhandig in voor de vernieuwing van het teksttoneel in de Lage Landen. Ze introduceerden een denkend spelen in het moment, het gebruik van kostuums en designmode, meubels en objecten en een onderzoekende, bevragende en open tekstbehandeling.  Nog steeds kijken we uit naar hun levendige, speelse werk.
