The New Agents Variety Show is a night in four acts. Samaa Wakim delivers Nauseating Delirium, a new script written collectively for and on the occasion of the show by the New Agents. A segment of burlesque and its antagonisms is performed by Leila Delicious. The culinary and the macabre come together in an experiment by Common Ground. All this will be accompanied by live music and select tracks by Kid Fourteen. The show is developed in response to Mophradat’s prompt guiding the programme: “What Do We Need for the Future?”  Common Ground is a collaborative artistic project started by Anna Celda and Saja Amro. Using the dining table and the kitchen as research laboratories, it aims to create a caring and comforting space to delve into topics like female labour, inherited knowledge, and culinary histories. Their recent work focuses on envisioning liberation in Palestine and globally by designing collective cooking experiences inspired by ancestral sensory rituals, creating mental and physical spaces for imagination and connection.  Khodor Ellaik aka Kid Fourteen (1987) is a Lebanese composer, performer and sound artist. His practice is at the crossroads between composition, sound research, writing, performance and the visual identity of the live act. Leila Delicious is a Palestinian performance and burlesque artist whose work exists at the epicenter of queer Palestinian decadence. She began her career as a political performance artist and sees burlesque as a continuation of that focus. For Leila, performing indulgence and abundance has become a ritual of embodied decolonization. Samaa Wakim is a Palestinian performer, choreographer, and cultural manager based in Haifa. A graduate of the Acting Department at Haifa University, she has performed in local and international shows. As an artist who grew up in Palestine’s rich music and dance culture, Samaa believes in mixing contemporary tools and multidisciplinary arts to contribute to the global arts, as well as the Palestinian cause and preserving its collective identity.   New Agents is a programme set up by Mophradat that brings together a working group of artists and curators to collaborate and learn together over an 18-month period. The 2023-24 participants are Bayan Kiwan, Dani Arbid, Nour El Safoury, Sara Bouzgarrou, and Siwar Kraytem.  Bayan Kiwan is an artist based between New York and Amman. Her paintings observe the domestic sphere as a contested site of everyday resistance and intimacy.  Nour El Safoury is an editor and an independent publisher who in 2020 founded the Cairo-based publishing outfit Esmat Publishing List which she presently runs. Esmat publishes and circulates texts by authors who bridge the arts with other disciplines to open up fresh ways to feel and imagine. She also co-organizes the Cairo Art Book Fair.  Dani Arbid is a writer, publisher and filmmaker based between London and Berlin. They are the founder of Barakunan, a publishing and media enterprise dedicated to elevating underrepresented BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) creatives. Dani’s work explores the fabrication of new myths through the subversion of genre and format, driven by an instinct toward social and political commentary.  Siwar Krai(y)tem is a multilingual designer, researcher, and artist based between Beirut and Amsterdam. Her research and artistic practice focus on multilingualism and language in times of transformation, as well as the construction of society through language.  Sara Bouzgarrou is a Tunisian artist, researcher, risograph printer, and art coordinator. She is interested in the intersection between print, food studies, and feminist issues through her interdisciplinary approach.  Mophradat is a Brussels-based association that creates opportunities for artists from the Arab world through an inventive approach to funding, commissioning, collaborating, and gathering. Launched by Mophradat in 2023, New Agents is a programme that brings together a group of people from across arts fields from the Arab world, whose practices are singular, future facing, and committed to public engagement, to work towards a joint project. The New Agents are Bayan Kiwan, Dani Arbid, Nour El Safoury, Sara Bouzgarrou, and Siwar Krai(y)tem.

The New Agents Variety Show est une soirée qui se déroulera en quatre actes. Samaa Wakim présentera Nauseating Delirium, un nouveau texte écrit collectivement pour et à l'occasion du spectacle. Un moment de burlesque et de ses antagonismes sera interprété par Leila Delicious. Le culinaire et le macabre se rencontreront dans une expérience de Common Ground. Le tout sera accompagné de musique live et de morceaux choisis par Kid Fourteen.Le spectacle est développé en réponse à l'invitation de Mophradat qui a servi de fil rouge au programme : « De quoi avons-nous besoin pour l'avenir ? » Common Ground est un projet artistique commun d'Anna Celda et de Saja Amro. En utilisant la table à manger et la cuisine comme laboratoires de recherche, elles cherchent à créer un espace bienveillant et réconfortant pour explorer des sujets comme le travail des femmes, les connaissances dont on hérite et les histoires culinaires. Leur travail récent s’attèle à imaginer la libération en Palestine et dans le monde en concevant des expériences culinaires collectives inspirées par des rituels sensoriels ancestraux, lors desquelles  sont créés des espaces mentaux et physiques propices à l'imagination et la connexion.Khodor Ellaik aka Kid Fourteen (né en 1987) est un compositeur, performeur et artiste sonore libanais. Sa pratique se situe à l'intersection de la composition, de la recherche sonore, de l'écriture, de la performance et de l'identité visuelle du live act.Leila Delicious est une artiste palestinienne de performance et de burlesque dont le travail se situe à l'épicentre de la décadence queer palestinienne. Elle a débuté sa carrière en tant qu'artiste de performance politique et considère le burlesque comme un prolongement de cette orientation. Pour Leila, jouer l'indulgence et l'abondance est devenu un rituel de décolonisation incarnée.Samaa Wakim est une artiste palestinienne, chorégraphe et responsable culturelle basée à Haïfa. Diplômée du département d'art dramatique de l'université de Haïfa, elle s'est produite dans des spectacles locaux et internationaux. En tant qu'artiste ayant grandi dans la riche culture de la musique et de la danse palestinienne, Samaa croit au mélange d'outils contemporains et d'arts multidisciplinaires pour contribuer aux arts mondiaux, ainsi qu'à la cause palestinienne et à la préservation de son identité collective. New Agents est un programme mis en place par Mophradat qui réunit un groupe de travail d'artistes et de conservateur·ices pour collaborer et apprendre ensemble sur une période de 18 mois. Les participant·es de 2023-24 sont Bayan Kiwan, Dani Arbid, Nour El Safoury, Sara Bouzgarrou et Siwar Kraytem. Bayan Kiwan est une artiste basée entre New York et Amman. Ses peintures observent la sphère domestique en tant qu’espace contesté de résistance et d'intimité quotidiennes. Nour El Safoury est une rédactrice et une éditrice indépendante qui a fondé en 2020 la maison d'édition Esmat Publishing List, basée au Caire, qu'elle dirige actuellement. Le travail de Dani explore la fabrication de nouveaux mythes à travers la subversion du genre et du format, et est alimenté par le commentaire social et politique. Siwar Krai(y)tem est une conceptrice, chercheuse et artiste multilingue basée entre Beyrouth et Amsterdam. Ses recherches et sa pratique artistique se concentrent sur le multilinguisme et la langue en période de transformation, ainsi que sur la construction de la société à travers la langue. Sara Bouzgarrou est une artiste tunisienne, chercheuse, imprimeuse de risographies et coordinatrice artistique. Elle s'intéresse à l'intersection entre l'imprimé, les études sur l'alimentation et les questions féministes à travers son approche interdisciplinaire. Mophradat est une association basée à Bruxelles qui crée des opportunités pour les artistes du monde arabe à travers une approche inventive du financement, de la commande, de la collaboration et du rassemblement. Lancé par Mophradat en 2023, New Agents est un programme qui rassemble un groupe de personnes issues de différents domaines artistiques du monde arabe, dont les pratiques sont singulières, tournées vers l'avenir et engagées auprès du public, afin de travailler à un projet commun. De New Agents Variety Show is een avond in vier bedrijven. Samaa Wakim brengt Nauseating Delirium, een nieuw script dat de New Agents gezamenlijk hebben geschreven voor en ter gelegenheid van de show. Een segment van burlesk en haar tegenstellingen wordt opgevoerd door Leila Delicious. Het culinaire en het macabere komen samen in een experiment van Common Ground. Dit alles wordt begeleid door livemuziek en selecte nummers van Kid Fourteen.De show is ontwikkeld naar aanleiding van Mophradats leidraad voor het programma: “Wat hebben we nodig voor de toekomst?”.   Common Ground is een gezamenlijk artistiek project van Anna Celda en Saja Amro. Door de eettafel en de keuken als onderzoekslaboratoria te gebruiken, willen ze een zorgzame en troostende ruimte creëren om onderwerpen als vrouwenarbeid, overgeërfde kennis en culinaire geschiedenissen te onderzoeken. Hun recente werk richt zich op het bedenken van bevrijding in Palestina en wereldwijd door het ontwerpen van collectieve kookervaringen geïnspireerd door voorouderlijke zintuiglijke rituelen, waarbij mentale en fysieke ruimtes voor verbeelding en verbinding worden gecreëerd.  Khodor Ellaik aka Kid Fourteen (1987) is een Libanese componist, performer en geluidskunstenaar. Door haar interdisciplinaire aanpak is ze geïnteresseerd in het snijvlak tussen drukwerk, voedselstudies en feministische kwesties.   Mophradat is een in Brussel gevestigde vereniging die kansen creëert voor kunstenaars uit de Arabische wereld door een inventieve benadering van financiering, opdrachten, samenwerking en ontmoeting. New Agents, gelanceerd door Mophradat in 2023, is een programma dat een groep mensen uit verschillende kunstdisciplines uit de Arabische wereld samenbrengt om aan een project te werken. Het werk van ieder van hen is specifiek. Wat hen verbindt, is hun toekomstgerichtheid en toewijding aan publiek engagement.
