Un projet d'un demi-milliard de dollars, un défi architectural écrasant, une échéance impossible, deux titans de la politique en guerre et un architecte qui n'a jamais rien construit : chercher l'erreur !En 1982, le nouveau président français François Mitterrand lance un concours à l'aveugle pour construire un opéra sur le site de la tristement célèbre prison de la Bastille. Les jurés croient avoir reconnu le style du célèbre architecte américain Richard Meier derrière le meilleur design. Enfin, c'est ce qu'ils pensent.Jusqu'à ce que le ministre de la Culture pâlisse et bafouille le nom de Carlos Ott, un Canadien. Personne n'a entendu parler de lui et il n'a jamais construit quoi que ce soit. Ont-ils choisi la mauvaise personne ?À peine informé, Carlos saute dans un avion pour Paris avec un passeport expiré et se retrouve dans une cellule de détention à l'aéroport en attendant son expulsion imminente. En haut lieu, c'est la panique. À partir de là, tout va aller de mal en pis.Mais comme en politique française, rien n'est jamais ce qu'il parait. Un an plus tard, le conservateur Jacques Chirac devient premier ministre. Il déteste Mitterrand et fait tout son possible pour arrêter la construction de l'opéra. Quand Carlos Ott reçoit l'injonction de Chirac de mettre fin au projet, et que les fonds lui sont retirés, il semble que tous ses sacrifices ont été vains.Construire l'Opéra Bastille est un long métrage documentaire qui raconte l'histoire comique, dramatique et enchevêtrée de la plus grande méprise sur l'identité de l'histoire moderne et de celui qui a su saisir au bond cette chance époustouflante.

Along the way, friendships are made despite the hardships and hope is found amidst the horror. Ali has to cross several countries, a desert and the Mediterranean along with hundreds of migrants seeking a better future. He arrives at the Brussels South railway station in 2019, alone, without knowing a word of French or Dutch. He is 14 years old …   This incredible epic is the true story of Ali Abdi Omar, adapted for the opera in collaboration with Ali himself. This moving creation reconstructs all the stages of his journey. A sensory experience where electronic music, voice, string and wind instruments, percussion and dance pay a vibrant tribute to the resilience of a young boy forced, like so many others, to leave his family and home in order to survive. ********** Français ********** Nul ne fuit par plaisir. Een zintuiglijke ervaring waarin elektronische muziek, stem, snaar- en blaasinstrumenten, percussie en dans een aangrijpend eerbetoon brengen aan de veerkracht van een tiener die, zoals zovele lotgenoten, zijn familie en zijn thuis moest achterlaten om te overleven.
