El Khat – named after the drug khat that has been chewed for centuries in the Middle East – is “a quartet led by brilliant Yemeni-Israeli composer and musician Eyal El Wahab that takes an innovative hand to old Yemeni sounds as passed down in popular music of decades past” according to Pop Matters.In 2019, El Khat began experimenting with DIY instruments in garages to pursue the minimalist philosophy of life. This led to an endless collection of Arabic melodies of Yemeni origin. Now with two albums notched up and a third on the way, El Khat is constantly moving to share their art with the world. Regardless of any country or flag, music is the group’s driving force.They previously performed at BRDCST where they almost transformed AB Club into a Middle-Eastern wedding party. And now they return to renew the vows!This is a Liveurope concert: the first pan-European initiative supporting concert venues in their efforts to promote emerging European music.

El Khat - nommé d'après la drogue khat, mâchée depuis des siècles au Moyen-Orient - est "un quatuor dirigé par le brillant compositeur et musicien yéménite-israélien Eyal El Wahab, qui apporte une touche innovante aux anciens sons yéménites tels qu'ils ont été transmis dans la musique populaire des décennies passées", selon Pop Matters.En 2019, El Khat a commencé à expérimenter avec des instruments DIY dans des garages pour poursuivre la philosophie minimaliste de la vie. Cela a conduit à une collection infinie de mélodies arabes d'origine yéménite. Avec déjà deux albums à leur actif et un troisième en préparation, El Khat est constamment en mouvement pour partager leur art à travers le monde. Dit heeft geleid tot een eindeloze verzameling Arabische melodieën van Jemenitische oorsprong. Met intussen twee albums achter de rug en een derde onderweg, is El Khat constant in beweging om hun kunst wereldwijd te delen. Los van een land of een vlag is muziek de drijvende kracht achter de groep.Ze stonden eerder al op BRDCST waar ze AB Club bijna omvormden tot een Midden-Oosters trouwfeest. En nu komen ze terug om de geloften te vernieuwen!Dit is een Liveurope concert: het eerste Europese initiatief dat concertzalen ondersteunt bij de promotie van opkomend muzikaal talent uit Europa.
