The biennial festival In Movement combines creations, revivals and composed evening performances. A mix of styles that testify to the passionate commitment of choreographers of all generations within the world of contemporary dance.
Beyond the differences in their artistic views and origins, the artists taking part in the festival all have links with Brussels, having lived and, above all, worked there.
The performances will be accompanied by meetings and lectures, which will stimulate reflection and open up to the challenges facing contemporary dance and its role within the City.

Het tweejaarlijkse festival, In Movement is een combinatie van creaties, hernemingen en samengestelde avondvoorstellingen. Een mix van stijlen die getuigen van het uitermate levendige engagement van choreografen van alle generaties binnen de wereld van de hedendaagse dans. De kunstenaars die aan het festival deelnemen, mogen dan een uiteenlopende artistieke visie en herkomst hebben, wat hen verbindt is het feit dat ze allemaal een link met Brussel hebben waar ze leven en vooral werken. De voorstel- lingen worden omkaderd door ontmoetingen en lezingen die de reflectie stimuleren en opentrekken naar de uitdagingen van hedendaagse dans en haar rol in de Stad.

Festival biennal, In Movement combine créations, reprises et soirées composées : des œuvres aux styles variés qui témoignent de l’engagement vivant des chorégraphes, toutes générations confondues, dans l’univers contemporain. Au-delà de leurs différences artistiques et de leurs origines de vie, les artistes invités au festival ont tous des liens avec Bruxelles, pour y vivre et surtout pour y travailler. Des rencontres et des conférences encadreront les spectacles et relanceront la réflexion en l’élargissant et en faisant retour sur les enjeux de la danse contemporaine et sa fonction dans la Cité.

********** English ********** (Pas si) Fragile! the Next Performance Art Generation is a biennial springboard for emerging artists working in performance art: Its formula modifies with each new iteration. 2024’s edition will unfold at Studio Thor, which has been running the project ever since 2020, at Les Halles de Schaerbeek and at La Balsamine. As with previous iterations, (Pas si) Fragile! will feature a host of young artists who have recently graduated from Wallonia-Brussels’ visual arts schools. These institutions devote part of their curriculum to performance art, responding to the new dynamic generated by these practices within the professional artistic field. This year its scope will differ somewhat, however, for this endeavour will be expanded to include the presentation of work by some fifteen young artists from right across Europe: Finland, Greece, Ireland, Poland and Slovenia. In total, some thirty emerging artists will animate this intensive three-day programme, at the intersection of local practice here in Belgium and two projects featuring an international dimension, namely Performing Identity and Time For Live Art. PARTNERS (Pas si) Fragile ! 2024 is a production by Studio Thor, in collaboration with ENSAV – La Cambre, Les Halles de Schaerbeek and La Balsamine as part of the Time For Live Art and Performing Identity projects. With the participation of Maison des Arts and Commune de Saint-Josse. With the support of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation (Service de la Danse and Brussels Promotion), Wallonia-Brussels International, and the European Union (Creative Europe and Erasmus+ / strategic partnerships). The professional programme has been developped with the collaboration of WBTD and the Wallonie-Brussels Center in Paris. Belgian selection made thanks to the suggestions of erg, Le 75, ARBA/ESA (ISAC), Arts², Beaux-Arts de Liège, Académie des Beaux-Arts de Tournai. Time For Live Art brings together Studio Thor (BE), New Performance Turku Biennale (FI), MIRfestival, Athens (GR) and Infinite Present / Glej, Ljubljana (SI). Performing Identity brings together ENSAV – La Cambre (Brussels), ESA Le 75 (Brussels), Magdalena Abakanowicz University of the Arts (Poznan, PL), Burren College of Art (Ballyvaughan, IE), in collaboration with the festivals Verao Azul / CasaBranca (PT), New Performance Turku Biennale (FI) and (Pas si) Fragile ! On y découvrira de jeunes artistes issu·es des écoles d’arts visuels de Wallonie-Bruxelles (La Cambre, erg, ISAC, Le 75, Beaux-Arts de Liège, Arts2, Académie de Tournai). Hangar Festival is an electronic music festival happening on the last weekend of April. During these two days, Hangar offers world-renowned artists the chance to reconnect with their Belgian audiences in a breathtaking setting. A show that's as musical as it is visual, an immersive scenography and a production designed down to the last detail to make its customers feel at home. Located on the outskirts of Brussels, the Hangar Festival is easily accessible by public transport, bike or car, with parking available. It will welcome approximately 4,000 people a day. With the help of the Red Cross and Brussels-based prevention organizations, we aim to make the Hangar Festival a place where festival-goers can feel safe, meet, unite and share their passion for music. Alongside this, participants can enjoy a tasty experience offered by the various food trucks on site.

********** English ********** With a choreographic, musical and narrative style all their own, Nono Battesti and his team create a series of tableaux in which we are all the characters. Powerful, poetic and disturbingly sincere, Coquelicot raises the question of the moral inheritance from which our decisions, actions and courage derive.in this choreographic fable, we lose ourselves in an accelerated, urban world from which there seems to be no escape. In search of a new lease of life, four protagonists in "societal burn-out" meet and reinvent themselves in the discovery of others, and together they build a more serene world. But the past resurfaces to put them to the test once again. A script that draws on the codes of storytelling and cinema to create a unique stage work. It's hard to say which of dance or music has led the other to tell us the story of this poppy seed, this internal revolt, of Coquelicot. ********** Français ********** Avec un travail chorégraphique, musical et narratif qui leur est propre, Nono Battesti et son équipe enchaînent les tableaux dont nous sommes tous les personnages. Puissant, poétique et troublant de sincérité, Coquelicot avance la question de l’héritage moral dont découlent nos décisions, nos actes et notre courage. Dans cette fable chorégraphique, on se perd dans un monde accéléré et urbain, un univers dont on ne semble pas pouvoir s’échapper. À la recherche d’un nouveau souffle, quatre protagonistes en « burn-out sociétal » se rencontrent et se réinventent dans la découverte de l’autre.Ensemble iels bâtissent un monde plus serein. Mais le passé ressurgit pour les mettre à nouveau à l’épreuve. Une écriture qui s’inspire des codes du conte et du cinéma pour dérouler un travail scénique unique. Il est difficile de dire qui de la danse ou de la musique a emmené l’autre pour nous raconter l’histoire de cette graine de pavot, de cette révolte interne, de Coquelicot. ********** Nederlands ********** Met een geheel eigen choreografische, muzikale en verhalende stijl creëren Nono Battesti en zijn team een reeks tableaus waarin wij allemaal de personages zijn. Krachtig, poëtisch en verontrustend oprecht stelt Coquelicot de vraag naar het morele erfgoed dat ten grondslag ligt aan onze beslissingen, onze daden en onze moed. In deze choreografische fabel verliezen we onszelf in een versnelde, stedelijke wereld waaruit geen ontsnappen mogelijk lijkt. Op zoek naar een nieuw leven, ontmoeten vier hoofdpersonen met een maatschappelijke burn-out elkaar, vinden zichzelf opnieuw uit door anderen te ontdekken en werken samen aan een vreedzamere wereld. Maar het verleden duikt weer op om hen opnieuw op de proef te stellen. Een toneelstuk dat gebruik maakt van de codes van storytelling en cinema om een uniek toneelstuk te creëren. Het is moeilijk te zeggen wie van de dans of de muziek de ander heeft geleid om ons het verhaal te vertellen van dit papaverzaad, deze interne opstand, van Coquelicot.

********** English ********** With a career spanning forty years, Michèle Noiret returns to the stage with a new solo and a major challenge: questioning her own style of "dance-cinema", without cinema! On an empty stage with no screens or projected images, and with the help of playwright Thierry Thieû Niang, she offers us a change of register to surprise herself and us. A dance that is part of the evolution of a choreographic language carried by a body that has been around for an entire oeuvre. While playing with her own image, the dancer/choreographer summons other characters who bring a solo to the group. Past and present enter into dialogue, interact and remind us of the fragility, the beauty, but also the strength of maturity when it never stops exploring new territories. At 7 pm, in the Mezzo room, we present Soleil Constant by Louise Baduel. After Loop Affect, she is back with Soleil Constant, with the same performers and the same mixed genres, that shines the spotlight on our inconsistencies and our contradictions when it comes to ecology. Using movement, text and textiles, she creates a colourful, visual world that simultaneously evokes the power of nature and the artificiality of our lifestyles. Can we transcend fatalism and its logical consequence in the form of ecological laxity and replace it with optimism and collective initiative? Straddling fiction and reality, Louise Baduel and Pascale Gigon mockingly turn our habits upside, rightly so. At 20.45, in the Chapelle, the show Up Close! by the Cie Michèle Noiret will be presented. Bijna 3000 mensen zullen op zaterdag 4 mei samenkomen om de feestcultuur en de lokale elektronische muziekscene te vieren met een line-up die volledig Brussels is. Le Mini D Festival a été créé en 2017 par le Marni, Pierre de Lune, Centre Scénique Jeunes Publics de Bruxelles et le Service Culture d’Ixelles pour rendre la danse contemporaine destinée aux enfants plus visible. Tant à l’école qu’en famille. Depuis, le cirque y a naturellement trouvé sa place et l’envie s’est propagée parmi les partenaires, notamment de programmer en plein air. Lieux partenaires : Marni, Théâtre Mercelis, place Fernand Cocq, Charleroi danse / La Raffinerie, la Maison des Cultures de Molenbeek, Le Senghor, centre culturel Jacques Franck.

Guest artists will present a spontaneous performance on Thursdays at 19:00. Tictac Art Centre holds weekly workshops directed by talented world-renowned dance artists, who have come to Brussels to share their work. On Thursdays these dance artists are invited to share a glimpse of their approach to performing for the workshop participants and general public. Tictac opens this space so the transmission of dance through teaching and performing can go hand in hand. Please, always check our social media in case of a possible Thursday performance cancellation. When there are two workshops happening in the same week, the artists are mostly presented in a shared evening, which also offers the opportunity to do something together or not. Especially in the intensive workshops, participants are also invited to perform and show whatever they’ve been doing during the classes but in a performance setting. Time: Performance starts at 19:00 (be on time!). Tictac doors, cantine, and courtyard are open from 18:00. Duration: 20 to 60 min (approx). The entry fee is on a donation-base (suggestion of minimum 5 €) and free for the participants of the workshops of that week.
