Description

Le Mini D Festival a été créé en 2017 par le Marni, Pierre de Lune, Centre Scénique Jeunes Publics de Bruxelles et le Service Culture d’Ixelles pour rendre la danse contemporaine destinée aux enfants plus visible. Tant à l’école qu’en famille. Depuis, le cirque y a naturellement trouvé sa place et l’envie s’est propagée parmi les partenaires, notamment de programmer en plein air.

Lieux partenaires : Marni, Théâtre Mercelis, place Fernand Cocq, Charleroi danse / La Raffinerie, la Maison des Cultures de Molenbeek, Le Senghor, centre culturel Jacques Franck.

********** English ********** (Pas si) Fragile! the Next Performance Art Generation is a biennial springboard for emerging artists working in performance art: Its formula modifies with each new iteration. 2024’s edition will unfold at Studio Thor, which has been running the project ever since 2020, at Les Halles de Schaerbeek and at La Balsamine. As with previous iterations, (Pas si) Fragile! will feature a host of young artists who have recently graduated from Wallonia-Brussels’ visual arts schools. These institutions devote part of their curriculum to performance art, responding to the new dynamic generated by these practices within the professional artistic field. This year its scope will differ somewhat, however, for this endeavour will be expanded to include the presentation of work by some fifteen young artists from right across Europe: Finland, Greece, Ireland, Poland and Slovenia. In total, some thirty emerging artists will animate this intensive three-day programme, at the intersection of local practice here in Belgium and two projects featuring an international dimension, namely Performing Identity and Time For Live Art. PARTNERS (Pas si) Fragile ! 2024 is a production by Studio Thor, in collaboration with ENSAV – La Cambre, Les Halles de Schaerbeek and La Balsamine as part of the Time For Live Art and Performing Identity projects. With the participation of Maison des Arts and Commune de Saint-Josse. La version 2024 se déroulera au Studio Thor, porteur du projet depuis 2020, aux Halles de Schaerbeek et à la Balsamine. On y découvrira de jeunes artistes issu·es des écoles d’arts visuels de Wallonie-Bruxelles (La Cambre, erg, ISAC, Le 75, Beaux-Arts de Liège, Arts2, Académie de Tournai). Hangar Festival is an electronic music festival happening on the last weekend of April. During these two days, Hangar offers world-renowned artists the chance to reconnect with their Belgian audiences in a breathtaking setting. A show that's as musical as it is visual, an immersive scenography and a production designed down to the last detail to make its customers feel at home. Located on the outskirts of Brussels, the Hangar Festival is easily accessible by public transport, bike or car, with parking available. It will welcome approximately 4,000 people a day. With the help of the Red Cross and Brussels-based prevention organizations, we aim to make the Hangar Festival a place where festival-goers can feel safe, meet, unite and share their passion for music. Alongside this, participants can enjoy a tasty experience offered by the various food trucks on site.

Guest artists will present a spontaneous performance on Thursdays at 19:00. Tictac Art Centre holds weekly workshops directed by talented world-renowned dance artists, who have come to Brussels to share their work. On Thursdays these dance artists are invited to share a glimpse of their approach to performing for the workshop participants and general public. Tictac opens this space so the transmission of dance through teaching and performing can go hand in hand. Please, always check our social media in case of a possible Thursday performance cancellation. When there are two workshops happening in the same week, the artists are mostly presented in a shared evening, which also offers the opportunity to do something together or not. Especially in the intensive workshops, participants are also invited to perform and show whatever they’ve been doing during the classes but in a performance setting. Time: Performance starts at 19:00 (be on time!). Tictac doors, cantine, and courtyard are open from 18:00. Duration: 20 to 60 min (approx). The entry fee is on a donation-base (suggestion of minimum 5 €) and free for the participants of the workshops of that week.

********** English ********** "My physique is the centrepiece of my career". On stage, an extraordinary body defies the codes of dance and the laws of physics. As dancer and choreographer Sofiane Chalal puts it bluntly : "People meet me twice, as if my body were taking up all the space, even my own. This almost schizophrenic duality between his life on stage and his life in the city is the subject of Ma part d'ombre, his first show as a choreographer and his first solo. It's almost a rite of initiation, dealing with very personal and therefore universal subjects : the body as ally and enemy, and the paradox, sometimes stimulating, sometimes painful, between what we perceive of ourselves and what others see. Sofiane Chalal tackles these issues with great sensitivity, and a characteristic body language that combines the power of hip hop with the fragility of mime. As comfortable in battles as he is in theatres, a winner of numerous competitions and performer for Farid Berki, Brahim Bouchelaghem and Christophe Piret, and the author of videos posted on social networks that are as much short choreographic films, he challenges all preconceived ideas and doesn't fit into any box. Here he lays himself bare in a proposal that combines dance, text and image, exploring in his own singular, intuitive way the position of the artist and the way the stage transforms him. ********** Français ********** « Être gros et danser. Mon corps est l'outil de mon art. C'est la première chose que l'on voit. On me rencontre deux fois, comme si mon corps prenait toute la place, même la mienne » Sur scène, un corps hors norme défie les codes de la danse et les lois de la physique. Danseur et chorégraphe, Sofiane Chalal l'assume sans ambages : « On me rencontre deux fois, comme si mon corps prenait toute la place, même la mienne. » Cette dualité presque schizophrène entre sa vie sur scène et sa vie à la ville est le sujet de Ma part d'ombre, son premier spectacle en tant que chorégraphe et son premier solo. Presqu'un rite initiatique, où il est question de sujets très personnels, donc universels : le corps comme allié et ennemi, et le paradoxe, parfois stimulant, parfois douloureux, entre ce que nous percevons de nous-mêmes et ce que voient les autres. Sofiane Chalal les aborde avec beaucoup de sensibilité, et une gestuelle caractéristique qui charrie à la fois la puissance du hip hop et la fragilité du mime. Aussi à l'aise dans les battles que dans les théâtres, à la fois lauréat de nombreux concours et interprète pour Farid Berki, Brahim Bouchelaghem et Christophe Piret, auteur de vidéos diffusées sur les réseaux sociaux qui sont autant de courts métrages chorégraphiques, il bouscule toutes les idées reçues et ne rentre dans aucune case. ********** English ********** Jeanne Colin began in 2017 as a dancer and performer with Ayelen Parolin, Éric Minh Cuong Castaing, Tumbleweed, Louise Vanneste... exploring the relationship between movement and the unconscious, blending disciplines and practices such as dance, hypnosis and drawing. With Abysses, the young choreographer continues this exploration by focusing on dreams and REM sleep, a state of rest in which nightmares and fear prevail. Starting from this dichotomy between reality and fiction, feeling and imagination, her piece begins in the form of a reading after which she allows the body and senses to drift towards a free, liberated dance. Met Abysses zet de jonge choreografe deze verkenning verder door zich te richten op dromen en de REMslaap, een staat van rust waarin nachtmerries en angst zegevieren. Met als uitgangspunt deze tweespalt tussen realiteit en fictie, gevoel en verbeelding vangt haar stuk aan in de vorm van een lezing waarna ze het lichaam en de zintuigen laat drijven in de richting van een vrije, bevrijde dans. Abysses speelt fysiek en metaforisch met touwen, knopen en lianen en verbindt wat verborgen en verdeeld is.

********** English ********** With a career spanning forty years, Michèle Noiret returns to the stage with a new solo and a major challenge: questioning her own style of "dance-cinema", without cinema! On an empty stage with no screens or projected images, and with the help of playwright Thierry Thieû Niang, she offers us a change of register to surprise herself and us. A dance that is part of the evolution of a choreographic language carried by a body that has been around for an entire oeuvre. While playing with her own image, the dancer/choreographer summons other characters who bring a solo to the group. Past and present enter into dialogue, interact and remind us of the fragility, the beauty, but also the strength of maturity when it never stops exploring new territories. At 7 pm, in the Mezzo room, we present Soleil Constant by Louise Baduel. Spelend met haar eigen beeld voert de danseres/choreografe andere personages op die een solo brengen in groep. Vroeger en nu gaan in dialoog, komen met elkaar in aanraking en herinneren ons aan de kwetsbaarheid, de schoonheid maar ook de kracht van maturiteit wanneer onophoudelijk nieuwe territoria werden verkend. ********** English ********** Together with her fellow performers, Louise Baduel manages to orchestrate performances full of poetry and humour, in a mixture of dance, music, theatre, performance and visual arts. After Loop Affect, she is back with Soleil Constant, with the same performers and the same mixed genres, that shines the spotlight on our inconsistencies and our contradictions when it comes to ecology. Using movement, text and textiles, she creates a colourful, visual world that simultaneously evokes the power of nature and the artificiality of our lifestyles. Can we transcend fatalism and its logical consequence in the form of ecological laxity and replace it with optimism and collective initiative? Straddling fiction and reality, Louise Baduel and Pascale Gigon mockingly turn our habits upside, rightly so. At 20.45, in the Chapelle, the show Up Close! by the Cie Michèle Noiret will be presented. Combi-ticket disponible. ********** Nederlands ********** Samen met haar medespelers slaagt Louise Baduel erin voorstellingen te orkestreren vol poëzie en humor, in een mengeling van dans, muziek, theater, performance en beeldende kunsten. Na Loop Affect is ze terug met Soleil Constant, met dezelfde vertolkers en dezelfde vermenging van genres, over onze inconsistenties en onze tegenstrijdigheden op vlak van ecologie. Met beweging, tekst en textiel creëert zij een kleurrijke, visuele wereld die tegelijkertijd de kracht van de natuur en de kunstmatigheid van onze levenswijzen oproept. Kunnen we het fatalisme en het logische gevolg ervan in de vorm van ecologische laksheid overstijgen en vervangen door optimisme en een collectieve initiatiefneming? Balancerend tussen fictie en realiteit, halen Louise Baduel en Pascale Gigon onze gewoonten met recht en reden én een vleugje spot overhoop. Om 20.45 uur wordt in de Kapel de voorstelling Up Close! van Cie Michèle Noiret gepresenteerd. Combi-ticket beschikbaar.

********** English ********** Just this once, the festival takes on an extra dimension. Kora Days 2024 will explore the connection between the kora and another well-known stringed instrument: the guitar. In addition, on this occasion, the great Toumani Diabaté honours us with an exceptional concert that unites him with the Orchestre National de Lille: a meeting between the kora and symphonic music that Toumani himself explored with the late Ali Farka Touré on their legendary album Ali et Toumani (2010). The full Kora Days programme will be announced later, but already save the date! ********** Français ********** Une fois n’est pas coutume, le festival se dote d’une dimension supplémentaire. Les Kora Days 2024 exploreront le lien qui unit la kora à un autre instrument à cordes pincées très connu : la guitare. En plus, à cette occasion, l’immense Toumani Diabaté nous fait l’honneur d’un concert exceptionnel qui l’unira à l’Orchestre National de Lille : une rencontre entre la kora et la musique symphonique que Toumani a lui-même explorée avec feu Ali Farka Touré sur leur album légendaire Ali et Toumani (2010). Tijdens de Kora Days 2024 onderzoeken we namelijk het verband tussen de kora en een ander bekend tokkelinstrument: de gitaar. Bovendien zal de grootse Toumani Diabaté ons bij deze gelegenheid vereren met een uitzonderlijk concert samen met het Orchestre National de Lille. Een ontmoeting tussen de kora en de symfonische muziek die Toumani zelf heeft verkend met wijlen Ali Farka Touré op hun legendarische album Ali et Toumani (2010). Het volledige programma van de Kora Days wordt later bekendgemaakt, maar duid de data nu al aan in je agenda!
