The next concert of the Brussels Chamber Ensemble (BCE), where young
professional musicians and people working at the EU institutions unite to make
music together, takes place next Saturday 27 April at the Grande Salle of the
Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles!
This time, the repertoire is focused on Belgian composers in order to honour the
Belgian Presidency of the Council. In this framework, the orchestra started a
Composition Competition to help and promote the work of young composers from the
country that each time holds the Council Presidency. This time the winner is a
composing-prodigy, the 14-year old Ruben van Eldik from Brussels – the orchestra
will premiere a beautiful impressionistic piece which he composed just for this
concert.
The BCE also made great efforts to unearth a manuscript of the saxophone
concerto by the Walloon composer Waignein, and brought this piece back to life
in Belgium as the score for saxophone and full orchestra had been lost by all
Belgian music institutions. The BCE managed to unearth the manuscript version
and commissioned a re-transcription of it, so that this mesmerising concerto may
once again be heard in Belgium after decades! The great Simon Diricq will be the
soloist on the saxophone.
The audience will also hear five lovely Flemish Dances by Blockx and everything
will be topped off for a finale with the famous 1st Symphony by Johannes Brahms.
A concert not to be missed, performed by a wonderful new orchestra uniting
lawyers, civil servants, political scientists and young professional musicians!
Cueillette urbaine
Description

Go nature!
