Une enquête intime, réalisée en 6 années, sur la lignée de femmes de sa famille et les enjeux trans-générationnels de la mémoire familiale.
Synopsis : Mai Hua, femme française d’origine vietnamienne, est une mère divorcée de deux enfants. En 2013, avec sa mère, elle ramène sa grand-mère mourante en France. Alors que cette dernière renaît de manière miraculeuse, un passé non résolu refait surface : Mai devient l’héritière d’une mémoire familiale complexe et douloureuse qu’elle ne veut pas transmettre à sa fille. A travers cette lignée de femmes et sa quête de vérité, la réalisatrice plonge dans une archéologie familiale à la fois intime et universelle.

La réalisatrice filme sa mère, kurde exilée et activiste au quotidien pour la cause de son peuple.
Le film raconte cette confrontation mère-fille au cœur de la question de la transmission ; quel héritage portons-nous ? Comment s’en libérer tout en donnant sens à nos racines et en aidant les générations futures à construire leur identité.
Le film mêle des images d'archives, notamment sur le terrible massacre à l'arme chimique de Halabja mené par les forces irakiennes de Saddam Hussein en 1988 ou sur l'exode de plus de deux millions de Kurdes après la fin de la première guerre du Golfe en 1991.

Synopsis : Mai Hua, a French woman of Vietnamese origin is a divorced mother of two. In 2013, she and her mother bring her dying grandmother with them to France. As her grandmother is miraculously reborn, an unresolved past resurfaces. Mai becomes heir to a complex and painful family memory that she does not want to pass on to her daughter. Through this lineage of female inheritance, and her quest for the truth, the director delves into the universal and intimate archaeology of her family.

The director films their mother, a Kurdish exile and activist for the cause of her people.
The film recounts the interactions between a mother and daughter who reflect critically on the question of transmission: what heritage do we carry? How can we free ourselves from it while keeping the meaning of our roots and how can we help future generations in the construction of their identities?
The film includes archival footage of the terrible chemical weapons massacre in Halabja, carried out by Saddam Hussein’s Iraqi forces in 1988, and the exodus of over two million Kurds at the end of the gulf war in 1991.
