a exactement 30 ans aujourd’hui.

Impro.
elkaar.
Mes Mots Molotovs, Code Rouge, 2021, videoclip, 4'54''

discours.

korte films.

Artistory is born in the Saint Antoine neighborhood-scene of the revolts in
Forest in 1991, from a strong will of some inhabitants to express themselves
through art. The covid pandemic had a very strong impact on this small
neighborhood where everyone knows each other and where suddenly the social
relations were brutally degraded. A pandemic which initially depressed a large
part of its inhabitants, impelled in a second time a true will of creation. In
one-year time, Artistory has constructed 3 recording studios as well as a
photo/video studio in its premises at Maxima, producing a dozen video clips and
already 3 short films.

On 10 May, M.CHUZI takes over Beursschouwburg for the funk, afrobeat and world
groove soiree of the year. Alongside your favourite Brussels groove sauce in a
live and DJ set, the Cologne power ensemble Muito Kaballa will enchant the
evening before DJ Rafael Aragon heads into the night with a selection of worldly
beats.
Groove machine and SoundTrack Laureate (2019) M.CHUZI (BXL) makes world-wise
sauce based on melting pot à la bruxelloise. A spicy mix of afro grooves, funk,
prog jazz and the spacy soundscape of a metropole. M.CHUZI smothers every stage
with catchy musical experiments in an authentic fashion. Drummer Jan Heirman and
Bass Man Niels d’Haegheleer form a basis, sauce chefs Basile Bourtembourg
(keys), Gil Duarte Da Cruz (guitar) and Band Man Thomas De Vries (guitar)
flavour the whole and the ultimate touch is delivered by a horn section with
Mattéo Badet (tenor saxophone), Robbe Latré (trumpet & Flügelhorn) and Martin
Lissoir (baritone saxophone). With members from Azmari, Okkupeerder and NAFT.

Muito Kaballa is an ensemble based in Cologne that draws its music from a
variety of influences. Afrobeat, jazz, soul, hip hop, samba, and rumba are among
the sources of their inspiration, creating a unique sound that the band refers
to as Hybrid Grooves. Their music is versatile, ranging from "easy listening" to
"hard-hitting." However, to truly understand what Muito Kaballa means by Hybrid
Grooves , one must experience their live concerts. With high-energy
performances, choreography, and showmanship, they get the audience dancing and
sweating, but they also create thoughtful and intimate moments for reflec- tion
and sing-alongs (bring lighters!). Overall, it's a rollercoaster ride that, like
the music of Muito Kaballa, has many unexpected twists and turns and is
definitely worth experiencing!

Rafael Aragon’s music is trance-inducing, powerful yet delicate, constantly
changing and continuously breaking borders. Sweaty dancefloor stompers and
soulful anthems with a magic touch inspired by forgotten traditions and ancient
folklores from all around the world. Mystic chimes, ritual drums and witchcraft
music meet raving kicks, deep basslines and electronic polyrythms to provide a
rich, dancy and psychedelic experience! Displaying numerous and eclectic
releases on various imprints wordwide for more than ten years, and with
uninterrupted gigs in clubs, parties & festivals all around Europe, South
America, North Africa & Japan, Rafael has made a name for himself as a versatile
and talented producer, remixer, live act and DJ.

Brusselse Jungle By Night? Ze bestaat! Drummer Jan Heirman en Bass Man Niels
d’Haegheleer vormen de basis, chef-sauciers Basile Bourtembourg (keys), Gil
Duarte Da Cruz (gitaar) en Band Man Thomas De Vries (gitaar) kruiden del boel af

moeite waard is!

scene.

DIRE À LAMINE, 2018, documentary, 72 min, FR ST EN
A film written, directed and produced by the collective Cases Rebelles (Michaëla
Danjé and Xonanji)
Conversation in French and English
Vegan meal included
On 17 June 2007 in Paris, Lamine DIENG, like many others before him, was killed
by the police. 10 years on, the film ‘Dire à Lamine’ recounts the struggle of
his family and the collective Vies Volées, set up by his sister Ramata. How to
cope with injustice, with the double wound of a crime and the absence of a
trial? How to continue to exist, to fight, to resist? Using interviews and
archival footage, family members and supporters address these questions.
Personal recollections, political meditations, insights, historical analyses,
but also words of love and renewed promises of struggle succeed one another. In
counterpoint, a portrait of Lamine appears.
CASES REBELLES is a black anti-authoritarian collective founded in France in
2010. They take part in and co-organise political and cultural events, produce
articles and a monthly radio podcast about the histories, cultures and struggles
of black people. Their activities seek to combat all forms of domination from an
Afrocentric perspective, an approach they call PanAfroRévolutionnaire.
‘Hors-d'oeuvre’ is conceived as a screening programme where nadjim bigou-fathi
and soto labor wish to share films they have come across during their research
into the Frsh (search for an object in a pocket) project. These screenings will
lead to an open discussion between speakers and members of the public. This
invitation aims to reflect collectively on issues such as managing our
narratives, the conditions under which they are produced and the power
relationships they imply. This event is part of nadjim & soto's collaboration
with Beursschouwburg as part of the associated artists programme.
NADJIM BIGOU-FATHI (1990, FR) is a designer, visual artist and performer. He is
interested in the emergence of boundaries – from walls to words – and the
normative, territorial or authoritarian dynamics that underpin them. Through
curatorial, sculptural and performance projects, he examines situations of
expectation and anticipation, questioning the power relations between
participants.
SOTO LABOR (1993, FR) is a poet, visual artist and performer. Strongly
influenced by hip-hop as a means of empowerment, he explores different forms of
narrative and performance, while examining the conditions under which discourse
is exercised. He produces short stories, fables, poems and rap lyrics as
critical tools.

Movulango’s musical paintings are a visual and intuitive reflection of what it
feels like to be him. His weekly radio show, Radio Atlantis on StuBru, Belgium,
is a clever alias he uses to explore different worlds, deconstruct existing
music and blend it with his own musical experiments. Everywhere you listen there
are textural harmonies. This isn’t music built on one narrative. Movulango
understands that music – like life – doesn’t exist in a vacuum. There isn’t one
truth, but thousands of competing, individual stories that when handled
delicately can co-exist and actually transcend all source material.
His latest project ‘The Irony’ is further insight into Movulango's devine mind,
building deeply personal stories on feeling and emotion that bundle into soaring
melodies and lyrics. You can try your best to understand what it all means or
you can sit back and let them bewitch your mind and soul.

Frankie, the band who ignored producing music until they built their own record

dangerous and deranged, their microphones more cracked and dust web covered than
Dan Melchior, Billy Childish and Ben Wallers combined.

A.T.M. sniper victim was born at a meeting in 2023 around a super-sized solid
marble table. A lot of subjects came up in the chatter between the members of
Gut Model and Milk TV. The idea of a rock band came up, however, after listening
to and discovering the superb crap compositions of a certain Lucas Roger. He was
then completely flabbergasted when the band added some completely rubbish drum
rolls, guitar misfires, crappy metal noises and bass lines badly played by a
dunce in the field. The noisy conspiracy is now taking to the stages to spread
its post-metronomic laments. The band draws as much inspiration from branlox
no-wave as it does from prog rock bullshit.

Acte bonté is the electronic duo of sisters Rébecca and Fiona Bonté. Since 2018,
their obsessional loops, occasional kicks, and ethereal auto-tuned melodies have
echoed in many basements and backyards in Western Europe. Their synths, sampler
and drum machine are haunted by an estimated 9 volt electric current. On their
latest record, ‘Service de nuit’ (‘Night shift’), they articulate some of their
favourite themes - such as heartbreak, lonely nightlife, low-key agony - in
eight minimalist songs and instrumentals that earned them the affectionate
nickname ’the Prozac Sisters’.

Soeurs Prozac.

Movulango schildert psychedelische alt-pop harmonieën waarin verschillende

zoals liefdesverdriet, eenzaam nachtleven, low-key lijden - in acht

Veduta is the result of merging the complementary activities of two non-profits,
GROEF vzw and Moodprint vzw. Whilst one tried to get art out of its typical
context, make it accessible and attract an audience less familiar with art, the
other thrived in high-quality exhibitions and blending disciplines. Veduta
combines the best of both organizations; conceptual as well as organizational.
Our merge results in a strong team of 10 ambitious volunteers with each their

Best friends, distant friends, work and play friends, little or lots of friends,
comrades in arms, party buddies, allies and frenemies, chosen families or casual
besties – friendship comes in all shapes and sizes. All of these different
friendships and how they affect our experiences and identities add up to a
significant social phenomenon.
And yet, friendship is hardly ever studied. It remains surprisingly absent from
knowledge institutions and cultural or political events (often shaded by
romantic love or family ties).
The curatorial collective Dis Mon Nom wants to change that. Their goal is to
host a multi-day friendship festival in the future. For now, it is to gather you
and all of your pals to come and think, talk and sing about friendship.
17:00 doors
18:00 workshop
19:30 talk
21:00 karaoké
Dis Mon Nom is a nomadic curatorial platform organizing exhibitions,
conversations, performances and encounters. Founded by Déborah Claire and Erell
Hemmer, both photographers and curators, Dis Mon Nom retorts an overly visual

Between 1920 and 1922, Knud Heckscher, Sirah Foighel Brutmann’s
great-grandfather, traveled from Copenhagen to Bangkok, where he worked for a
Danish-British-Siamese electricity company. During these two years, he
meticulously reported his daily life that includes a series of 107 letters and a
collection of black and white pictures. In 2020, Sirah received these letters
and pictures in inheritance.
These materials are the departure point of Sirah and Eitan work for ᗰEᗩᔕᑌᖇIᑎG

nauseating environment in which he was navigating back then.
Trigger warning: racist and antisemitic content from letters and photos produced
in 1920 and 1922.

Kwart Voor Straks is the brand-new project of Alex Deforce & Charlotte Jacobs,

YOURS,
one collective process, five films, in homage to Chantal Akerman
directed by Eva Giolo, Rebecca Jane Arthur, Katja Mater, Sirah Foighel Brutmann,
Eitan Efrat, Maaike Neuville
2023, 82’, VO EN, FR, NL & ST EN, NL
A group of artists were invited to be inspired by the work of the well-known,
Belgian filmmaker Chantal Akerman, specifically her film 'News from Home'
(1976). The busy city of New York serves as the film’s main character.
Meanwhile, we hear Akerman’s voice reading letters from her mother in Brussels.
She recounts daily anecdotes from the home front and increasingly urgent
requests for news from New York.
The artists made one film together: each with their own voice, style, and
starting point. During the working process, questions arose: how do you as an
artist relate to another film practice, how do you create a collective work
while maintaining your individuality?
You’ll see no less than five different films within one kaleidoscopic film:
'Stone, Hat, Ribbon and Rose' by Eva Giolo
'Barefoot Birthdays on Unbreakable Glass' by Rebecca Jane Arthur
'When Things Fall Apart' by Katja Mater
'Un Âne' by Sirah Foighel Brutmann and Eitan Efrat
'The possibility of being sea' by Maaike Neuville
Details such as letters and metros, and themes such as dislocation, detached
city life, alienation versus feeling at home, distance versus proximity, and the
mother-daughter relationship echo Akerman’s films. Unfortunately, the artists
are no longer able to engage directly with the filmmaker, who passed away in
2015. However, this joint work attests to a way of engaging in dialogue with her
work.

'Stone, Hat, Ribbon and Rose' d’Eva Giolo, 'Barefoot Birthdays on Unbreakable
Glass' de Rebecca Jane Arthur, 'When Things Fall Apart' de Katja Mater, 'Un Âne'
du duo d’artistes Sirah Foighel Brutmann et Eitan Efrat et 'The possibility of
being sea' de Maaike Neuville.

'Sauna Never Dry' is a community and nomadic project, constituting itself
entirely for what it says it is: a wooden room containing the instrumentation to
obtain dry air at high temperature. In the sauna you will find an electric
stove, stones, a bucket of water, a ladle, hourglass and a thermometer: a sealed
environment in which to bring the naked body to a boil in close proximity to
other bodies.
'Sauna Never Dry' has become the winter excuse to gather people, share
practices, discussions and conversations, and to grow a queer and decolonial
community around that space, questioning what words like care, erotic and
intimacy still mean in the context of wealthy exclusive capitals of the Western
world. From here we offer space to whoever needs to experiment a form of
gathering or feels the necessity to reinforce community practices reconnecting
with old and new traditions. This is a space of rest and cuddles for oppressed
subjectivities, fighters needing this space to counterbalance discrimination in
public space, for mutual support and interdependence.
Each day, there will be different artistic openings of the sauna.
Nobody's Indiscipline is an open-source multi disciplinary platform for the
sharing of artistic practices in the Performing Arts. It exists to create space
for lateral exchange, outside of the economies of workshops (wherein the
information is generally unidirectional) and creations (which are usually
supported via single authors and pieces). It is a format in which artists can
meet on equal grounds to share our practical tools and knowledge, to inspire and
feed each other, to foster the proliferation of information and thereby support
each other's work and the general advancement of the field. Diversity is a
criterion in our gatherings, in order to create a catalytic environment where
friction between different ways of working and thinking can support the
discovery of new forms and expansion of each participant’s own artistic
horizons.
A project in the frame of Nobody's Indiscipline curated by Sara Leghissa and
Sebastiano Lorenza Pala.

education in relation to the further development of a career in the performing
arts. Does the value system of these institutions still correspond to the
current practices in the field? Are the ways of teaching, the curriculum and the
possibilities within still relevant to present expectations of the art field?
Are these school programmes necessary to make the bridge to a professional
career, and where does that position the autodidact within our sector? Through
the voices of different guests, we try to look at these questions from a local
to an international perspective. At the table: Haider Al Timimi, Carolina Maciel
de França, Tundé Adefioye, Ingrid Franke, Loucka E. Fiagan and Krystel Khoury.
The conversation is moderated by Julia Reist (Kunstenpunt).
