'Into Thin Air', contemporary dance (55 mins) | May 14, 2024 | 1 PM, 5 PM @
Korean Cultural Center
〈Into Thin Air〉 is a trash art based, real life inspired visual theater piece.
It is about emptiness. It deals with the disappearance of value and cause, the
loss of the present in the rush for a better future. Into Thin Air is set in a
world of commercial values and soap opera morals. The piece's dramatic aspects,
filled with dark humor, are derived from the true stories if there are 9
participants. As the piece unfolds, the dancers stretch their physical
boundaries, as the characters in the piece are stretching their realistic
boundaries to fit comics-like prototypes. Through rhythmical movement sections
and beautifully crude visual imagery, short stories emerge, exposing a vast
emotional field in which the 9 characters' virtuosity move around.
'Dance Speaks', contemporary dance (83 mins) | May 16, 2024 | 1 PM, 5 PM @
Korean Cultural Center
is a lecture performance featuring dancers from various fields, including
traditional Korean dance, contemporary dance, ballet, and street dance, who
reflect on contemporary dance through dance and narrative, focusing on the
specific body of the dancer. Dancers' bodies embody the illusion of beauty on
stage, but in reality, they are often injured or deformed as professionals who
use their bodies. In the performance, the dancers tell autobiographical stories
about their bodies and use their own experiences with health and injury to
critique the illusions that surround dance, and also show their dedication to
dance on stage.
'Dallae Story', non-verbal puppet show (70 mins) | June 6, 2024 | 1 PM, 5 PM @
Korean Cultural Center
is a story of three families who cherish the simple things in their lives
together. It is a story of childhood memories that everyone has, and how the
small pleasures of a happy and warm day can help us through the inevitable hard
times. The unique form of actors and puppets performing together uses a variety
of media, including objects, theater, mime, Korean dance, shadow play, and 3D
video. It is a non-verbal puppet theater that uses lyrical dance and implied
gestures to convey the content, making it easy for anyone to understand and
relate to.

'Into Thin Air', danse contemporaine (55 minutes) | 14 mai, 2024 | 13h, 17h @

Brussels has been singing for years and did not wait for Jacques Brel to
proclaim its musicality! Around 1730, equipped with a brand-new opera house, it
was close to Paris, on the road to London, and buzzing with sound. Whether it
was the music-loving nobility, carefully selected Italian musicians and singers,
or French composers in exile, it resonated and sang.
Rachel Heymans and Gwennaëlle Alibert will introduce you to a little-known part
of our capital's sound history, to the sounds of the harpsichord, baroque oboe
and recorders. Perhaps you will be lucky enough to be the first to hear certain
works from the collections of the library of the Royal Conservatory or the
archives of the Dukes of Arenberg since the 18th century?

How do we feel the impact of events which are so much larger than us, move
through us, and animate and activate our bodies all the time? Ten performers
enact a glacially morphing tableau vivant on a mobile raft-like stage. Their
voices generate a score that crescendos and resonates as they clutch, careen and
cleave in a space too small to contain them, spilling off the edges. The scenes
shown reference at times images from classical iconography. Tenderness and
violence, sensuality and brute force cohabitate. The audience sits all around as
if watching a boxing match, embanking the performers, close enough to smell
their sweat and feel the steam of the spiralling scenes. Celebrated American
choreographer Faye Driscoll returns to the festival with a multi-sensory flesh
and breath sculpture made of bodies, sounds, scents, liquids and objects. She
pushes her performers to their limits in this compelling, adventurous work,
presented in the impressive Horta Hall, originally an exhibition space for
sculptures. Weathering is an ode to the inexhaustible physical power of queer
bodies.

How do we feel the impact of events which are so much larger than us, yet move
through us, and animate and activate our bodies all the time? Ten performers
enact a glacially morphing tableau vivant on a mobile raft-like stage. Their
voices create a score that grows larger and resonates as they clutch, careen and
cleave in a space too small to contain them, spilling off the edges. The scenes
shown reference at times images from classical iconography. Tenderness and
violence, sensuality and brute force cohabitate. The audience sits all around as
if watching a boxing match, embanking the performers, close enough to smell
their sweat and feel the steam of the spiralling scenes.
Celebrated American choreographer Faye Driscoll returns to the festival with a
multi-sensory flesh and breath sculpture made of bodies, sounds, scents, liquids
and objects. She pushes her performers to their limits in this compelling,
adventurous work, presented in the impressive Horta Hall, originally an
exhibition space for sculptures. Weathering is an ode to the inexhaustible
physical power of queer bodies.

Weathering is
