LaughPlug Comedy Club, in collaboration with Tech-noir, is putting together a new show that tries to mix things up in the Rotterdam comedy scene. The night will feature some of the best comics of the English-speaking scene in the Netherlands, alongside up-and-coming local acts and international comedians.

-LaughPlug Comedy Club is a grassroots initiative born through open-air shows at Het Park during the past summer. We aspire to help grow the comedy scene in Rotterdam, whilst making it more weird and more accessible!

Kimina is een voorstelling waarin Tambú; de muziek, dans, storytelling en
spiritualiteit centraal staat. Het is de derde voorstelling in de reeks
vertoningen van Chatlein’s onderzoek & performace platform Voices From Letters,
waarin hij de traditionele muziek vertaalt naar het hedendaagse.
In the Making #5: Barbro Scholz and Li Lorian, Experiencing Text and Textile. In
this session researchers Barbro Scholz and Li Lorian ask the following
questions: How does light feel on the body? What sort of togetherness is there
in reading text?
They will explore tangible and intangible experiences of voice and textile
light. In their practice, both artists are interested in ways of communicating
aesthetic experience. Procedures of documentation and transmission bring up
questions concerning audience, spectatorship and participation in the art field
and artistic research. We aim to open up for participative thinking and valuing
aesthetic and experiential knowledge of ourselves and others.
Artist and designer Barbro Scholz deals with experiential qualities of tangible
(textiles) and intangible (light) materials, and how their interplay invites for
novel forms of performativity.
Performer and artist Li Lorian is interested in practices of reading text, to
oneself and outloud, voicing and finding new means of commonality. Both of them
have an interest in movement, affect, and entanglement to be investigated in a
playful, participatory, collaborative research. This session is a great
opportunity for them to find ways to share their yet unformulated thoughts in an
experiential method with an audience.

IN THE MAKING
The Academy of Creative and Performing Arts (ACPA) of Leiden University and Art
Institute West Den Haag are pleased to announce their close collaboration in the
new public series ‘In the Making’. In six public sessions they will present to
the public different practices of research in the arts.
Artistic production has always expressed the forms in which we know, explore,
and sense the world we live in. The current practice of research in the arts
consciously assumes this exploration. In the past decades the focus on research
in the domain of the arts has grown – as well as its role in universities and
other research contexts – expressing its engagement with the realities of the
world at large.
‘In The Making’ will address how artists conduct their research. Guest artist
researchers and artist researchers from Leiden University will present their
projects, approaches to research, methods and results. Each session will address
questions inherent to these projects. ‘In The Making’ aims to deepen a
perspective which conceives of artistic practice not as the sole product of
individual visionaries but as a collective endeavor embedded in society. It
addresses the role of art in the construction of the present and the creation of
possible futures.

In Paradise Circus Now zien we zeven vluchtende personages dwalend in een
woestijn. Opgejaagd door een verleden dat ze achtervolgt. De laatste die zich
aansluit bij de groep is een jonge vrouw die naar Nederland is gevlucht, weg van
geweld. Als een nieuwe en eigenzinnige familie trekken ze rond, in een
voorstelling waarin gezongen, gedanst, gesproken en gespeeld wordt.
De voorstelling wordt in verschillende talen gesproken en is voorzien van
ondertiteling in zowel Nederlands als Engels.

IN EEN NOTENDOP
In 1766 is het pand, dat we nu als de Koninklijke Schouwburg kennen, gebouwd.
Oorspronkelijk als stadspaleis, maar dit is nooit in gebruik genomen - de prins
en de prinses vertrokken. Het leegstaande gebouw deed dienst als kazerne voor
het Franse leger. Pas later, in 1804, werd het de Koninklijke Schouwburg. Eerst
voor de elite en later voor het hele volk. In de Tweede Wereldoorlog zaten de
Duitsers er, terwijl er tegelijkertijd onderduikers zich schuilhielden.
IN A NUTSHELL
EN| The venue, now known as our Royal Theatre (Koninklijke Schouwburg in Dutch)
was built in 1766. Originally it was a palace, but because the prince and
princess left it has never been used as such. The vacant building served as a
base for the French Army. It was not until 1804 that the Royal Theatre was born.
At first it was only to be visited by the elite, but over time it became a
theatre for the people. During The Second World War it was taken over by the
Germans. Still, there were a lot of people in hiding in the theatre.
JOUW BEZOEK
Je komt binnen als een echte artiest via de artiesteningang aan Schouwburgstraat
10. We drinken een kopje koffie in de artiestenfoyer, spieken even in de
kleedkamers en ontdekken dan de verborgen plekjes van de schouwburg. Je loopt
met een groep van 15 tot 20 personen en de rondleiding duurt ongeveer een
uurtje. Na afloop kun je nog iets drinken in onze theaterbrasserie. We kijken
ernaar uit!
YOUR VISIT
EN| Like a true artist you will start your tour by entering through the stage
door on Schouwburgstraat 10. We start off with a cup of coffee in the green room
and a quick peep into the dressings rooms. Then it's time to discover the hidden
spots of the theatre. We will walk around in a group of 15 to 20 people and the
tour takes about an hour. After the tour you can have a drink in our
bar-restaurant. We are looking forward to having you!

Na de enorme successen van de Tribute to Lata Mangeshkar in 2022 én 2023 en op
veler verzoek brengt InSuNed u de 3e editie van dit evenement! In de prachtige
zaal van de Koninklijke Schouwburg brengen diverse vocalisten een ode aan deze
legendarische zangeres. De muzikale omlijsting wordt verzorgd door Avishkar
Orchestra. Dit wil je niet missen!
