Marcel s’est fait un prénom en développant son propre langage qui va puiser dans le jazz, la musique classique, le flamenco et bien évidemment dans les nombreux genres brésiliens tels que samba, choro, bossa-nova, baião…

Virtuose de la guitare, Marcel est aussi compositeur : 9 des 14 titres de l’album sont de sa plume, parfois en partenariat avec d’autres musiciens brésiliens. Dans nombre de compositions de cet album le guitariste montre plutôt son côté lyrique et poétique contrastant avec l’énergie de la samba qu’on lui connait habituellement et que l’on retrouve dans Sempre Alegre.

Sur Samba do Avião de Tom Jobim, Marcel montre ses talents d’arrangeur pour la guitare. Il revisite aussi une composition du guitariste brésilien Ravi Sawaya dédiée à Baden : « Badenania 27 ». « Solfegietto » est le seul morceau qui n’est pas brésilien mais on comprend le choix de cette composition de Carl Philipp Emmanuel Bach quand on connait l’admiration qu’avait le père de Marcel pour Jean-Sébastien Bach.
Deux titres dérogent au principe de guitare solo : Bilhete, de Ivan Lins, où Marcel est rejoint par le chanteur David Linx et le mandoliniste Armandinho, et Pro Tião où il invite le tromboniste Roberto de Oliveira.

He is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist. After participating in The Voice Brasil, Matu is touring Europe with the show for his first album called “Matutando.” In an intimate format of voice and guitar, Matu presents his universe and the compositions from his new album, along with reinterpretations of renowned Brazilian popular music composers.

Marcel heeft naam gemaakt door zijn eigen taal te ontwikkelen, puttend uit jazz, klassieke muziek, flamenco en natuurlijk de vele Braziliaanse genres zoals samba, choro, bossa nova, baião...

Als gitaarvirtuoos is Marcel ook een componist: 9 van de 14 nummers op het album zijn door hem geschreven, soms in samenwerking met andere Braziliaanse muzikanten. In veel van de composities op dit album laat de gitarist zich van zijn lyrische en poëtische kant zien, in tegenstelling tot de energie van de samba waar hij meestal bekend om staat en die we terugvinden in Sempre Alegre.

Op Samba do Avião van Tom Jobim laat Marcel zijn talenten als gitaararrangeur zien. Hij herneemt ook een compositie van de Braziliaanse gitarist Ravi Sawaya opgedragen aan Baden: “Badenania 27”. “Solfegietto” is het enige niet-Braziliaanse nummer, maar de keuze voor deze compositie van Carl Philipp Emmanuel Bach is begrijpelijk gezien de bewondering van Marcels vader voor Johann Sebastian Bach.
Twee nummers wijken af van het principe van sologitaar: Bilhete, van Ivan Lins, waar Marcel wordt bijgestaan door zanger David Linx en mandolist Armandinho, en Pro Tião, waar hij trombonist Roberto de Oliveira uitnodigt.

Marcel has made a name for himself by developing his own language, drawing on jazz, classical music, flamenco and, of course, the many Brazilian genres such as samba, choro, bossa nova, baião...

A guitar virtuoso, Marcel is also a composer: 9 of the 14 tracks on the album were written by him, sometimes in partnership with other Brazilian musicians. In many of the compositions on this album, the guitarist shows off his lyrical and poetic side, in contrast to the energy of the samba that he is usually known for, and which we find in Sempre Alegre.

On Tom Jobim's Samba do Avião, Marcel shows off his talents as a guitar arranger. He also revisits a composition by Brazilian guitarist Ravi Sawaya dedicated to Baden: ‘Badenania 27’. ‘Solfegietto’ is the only non-Brazilian track, but the choice of this Carl Philipp Emmanuel Bach composition is understandable given Marcel's father's admiration for Johann Sebastian Bach.
