À l’occasion de la journée internationale des migrants, l’équipe d’éducation permanente du Sireas organise cette année la 13ème édition de son festival Let’s Art. Cette année, nous vous invitons à explorer la richesse culturelle de l’Algérie, en mettant en lumière ses multiples facettes et son héritage diversifié.SAMEDI 9 Décembre14h30 : Vernissage de l’expo-photo « Cléa Rekhou »Les œuvres visuelles de Cléa Rekhou explorent la société et l’histoire algérienne mais aussi son identité à travers la compréhension de son propre héritage. Des manifestations de 2019 aux traces coloniales visibles à Alger, nous vous invitons à découvrir différents projets de cette talentueuse photographe.L’exposition peut être visitée jusqu’au 16/12/202317h00 – 18h30 : Projection du film documentaire « Nardjes A. » (2020 – Karim Aïnouz)Suite à l’annonce de la candidature du président Bouteflika pour un cinquième mandat, un mouvement de protestation et d’indignation enflamme les rues d’Alger. Tourné le 8 mars 2019, lors de la Journée internationale des droits des femmes, le film dresse le portrait de Nardjes, une jeune femme qui lutte pour faire entendre sa voix.18h30 – 19h15 : Conférence-débat avec le publicEn avril 2019, le président Bouteflika démissionne sous la pression populaire et l’Algérie tourne une page longue de vingt années. Les manifestations massives et la mobilisation populaire ont-elles modifié la société algérienne ? Kom langs voor een babbel en een drankje in aanwezigheid van fotografe Marlies
Van Wielendaele.
Marlies Van Wielendaele (1990) is een analoge fotografe die in Brussel woont
maar met regelmaat de oceaan in binnen- en buitenland opzoekt. De zee is bij
uitstek haar veilige haven. Ze duikt diep met haar analoge Nikonos V camera uit
de jaren 80 en tegelijkertijd speelt ze aan de oppervlakte met reflecties en de
vormen die het bewegende water aannemen. Ze is geïnspireerd door zowel de
verschillende kleuren en patronen van die gekke vissen en koralen als de relatie
tussen mensen en zo’n watermassa. Omgeven door water voelt Marlies zich op een
fijne manier klein én deel van iets groots. Daarnaast levert een watersessie met
haar Nikonos V gegarandeerd een grote glimlach op voor de rest van de dag."

analogique qui vit à Bruxelles mais qui visite régulièrement la mer, sa source

Many migration movements demand a lot from migrants. Their lives and health are
threatened, their right to self-determination is challenged, and their
individual identities become objects of other people’s prejudices and actions.
All migration processes, even the painful ones, lead to new cultural diversity,
which can be seen as a positive force in today’s societies. Shared experiences
empower the citizens of Europe and help create our joint European identity.
Featured are some very specific situations at European level:
1. The long-term consequences of the German occupation of Norway during World
War II.
2. Prejudices against many Greenlandians after the migration from Greenland to
Denmark since 1945.
3. Forced migration of Sámi from the North to the South of Sweden.
4. Population exchange in former German Pomerania after 1945, exemplified by the
Polish town Slupsk .
5. The long-term consequences of the Holocaust for Lithuanian women.
6. Migration to Slovenia after World War II and the impact of the country’s
independence in 1991 on the migrants.
7. The complex political history of the Istrian peninsula and its multi-ethnic
population related to 200 000 emigrants after World War II.

De nombreux mouvements migratoires exigent beaucoup des migrants. Leurs vies et
leur santé sont menacées, leur droit à l’autodétermination est remis en
question, et leurs identités individuelles deviennent des objets des préjugés et
des actions d’autrui. Tous les processus de migration, même les plus douloureux,
conduisent à une nouvelle diversité culturelle, qui peut être perçue comme une
force positive dans les sociétés d’aujourd’hui. Les expériences partagées
renforcent les citoyens européens et contribuent à créer notre identité
européenne commune.
Il existe quelques situations très spécifiques au niveau européen :
1. Les conséquences à long terme de l’occupation allemande de la Norvège pendant
la Seconde Guerre mondiale.
2. Les préjugés contre de nombreux Groenlandais après la migration du Groenland
au Danemark depuis 1945.
3. La migration forcée des Sámis du Nord vers le Sud de la Suède.
4. L’échange de population dans l’ancienne Poméranie allemande après 1945,
exemplifié par la ville polonaise de Slupsk.
5. Les conséquences à long terme de l’Holocauste pour les femmes lituaniennes.
6. La migration en Slovénie après la Seconde Guerre mondiale et l’impact de
l’indépendance du pays en 1991 sur les migrants.
7. L’histoire politique complexe de la péninsule istrienne et de sa population
multiethnique liée à 200 000 émigrants après la Seconde Guerre mondiale.

Veel migratiebewegingen eisen veel van migranten. Hun levens en gezondheid
worden bedreigd, hun recht op zelfbeschikking wordt uitgedaagd, en hun
individuele identiteiten worden objecten van vooroordelen en acties van anderen.
Alle migratieprocessen, zelfs de pijnlijke, leiden tot nieuwe culturele
diversiteit, die kan worden gezien als een positieve kracht in de hedendaagse
samenlevingen. Gedeelde ervaringen versterken de burgers van Europa en helpen
bij het creëren van onze gezamenlijke Europese identiteit.
Er bestaan enkele zeer specifieke situaties op Europees niveau:
1. De langetermijngevolgen van de Duitse bezetting van Noorwegen tijdens de
Tweede Wereldoorlog.
2. Vooroordelen tegen veel Groenlanders na de migratie vanuit Groenland naar
Denemarken sinds 1945.
3. Gedwongen migratie van Sami van het noorden naar het zuiden van Zweden.
4. Bevolkingsuitwisseling in het voormalige Duitse Pommeren na 1945,
geïllustreerd door de Poolse stad Slupsk.

6. Migratie naar Slovenië na de Tweede Wereldoorlog en de impact van de
onafhankelijkheid van het land in 1991 op de migranten.
7. De complexe politieke geschiedenis van het Istrische schiereiland en zijn

l'academie RHOK présentent certains des projets artistiques qu'ils ont réalisés
l'année passée.

As the daughter of the child who was left in the home, Greene traces her family
story along the matrilinear line, and the resulting film enters into the gaps in
memory and record. Máthair offers a fragmented and elliptical account of a
search for knowledge in the face of institutional oppression and obfuscation;
the film resists linear narrative and documentary modes, offering us an intense
and revelatory encounter with a shared family trauma.
Scant records and redacted documents describe the negation and erasure of those
who passed through the church’s homes for unmarried mothers. The sensory lives
of these ungraspable women are embodied in choreographed phrases performed by
four dancers, whose costumed movements both gesture towards and subvert the
constrictive clothing regulations of Catholic institutions and the forced female
labour in the church’s laundries. Glimpses of this performance are threaded
between a chaotic collage of archival material and present-day online chat
rooms; the only respite is found in the holding space of the landscape and the
bodies of water between England and Ireland. The silences of the archive are
countered by a dissonant sound score, a pulsing polyphonic composition dense
with complex sensory impressions, and a chorus of unvoiced voices compelling us
to stay with the problem.
Keira Greene is an artist working across film, photography, performance and
text. Her work is preoccupied with the social and organic life and landscape of
specific environments. Her work is produced through a collaborative and
conversational practice of looking, writing and forming enduring relationships.
Recent works are concerned with ideas of the body and the experience of emotion,
in dialogue with an embodied filmmaking practice.

En 1954, une femme Irlandaise se rend en Angleterre pour donner naissance à un
enfant illégitime. En 2024, sa petite-fille – la réalisatrice – retrace son
parcours en reconstituant les fragments de son histoire. Máthair (Mère) s'appuie
sur un réseau complexe d'informations obfusquées, provenant d'agences
administratives d'adoption, des dossiers d'un foyer catholique pour mères et
bébés et de conversations en ligne entre des inconnu·e·s suivant les mêmes
traces d'archives. Máthair interroge les institutions religieuses, le concept de
maternité et le sentiment d'appartenance à un lieu.
Keira Greene est une artiste qui travaille à la frontière du film, de la
photographie, de la performance et du texte. Son travail se concentre sur la vie
sociale et organique au sein de paysages spécifiques. Son travail est produit
par une pratique collaborative et conversationnelle du regard, de l'écriture et
par la formation de relations durables. Ses œuvres récentes s'intéressent aux
corps et à l'émotion, en dialogue avec une pratique cinématographique incarnée.

buitenechtelijk kind. In 2024 volgt haar kleindochter, de filmmaker, haar reis
door fragmenten van haar verhaal bij elkaar te zoeken. Máthair (Mother) is
gebaseerd op een complex web van verdoezelde informatie van adoptiebureaus,
verslagen van een katholiek tehuis voor moeders en baby's, en chatgesprekken
tussen vreemden die hetzelfde archiefspoor volgen. Máthair bevraagt de
instellingen van religie, noties van moederschap en een gevoel van plaats.
Keira Greene is een kunstenaar die werkt met film, fotografie, performance en
tekst. Haar werk houdt zich bezig met het sociale en organische leven en
landschap van specifieke omgevingen. Haar werk wordt gemaakt door middel van een
collaboratieve en conversationele praktijk van kijken, schrijven en het vormen
van duurzame relaties. Recente werken houden zich bezig met het lichaam en de
ervaring van emotie, in dialoog met een belichaamde filmpraktijk.

Het Volk der Introverten is een geboetseerde menigte bestaande uit hoofdjes van
klei met ogen dicht, gemaakt door vele handen. Onder leiding van kunstenaar
Mirthe Dokter (Pollif Projects) wordt je meegenomen in een zoektocht van je
handen naar jezelf, met de klei als vriendelijke bondgenoot. Door een moment
gezamenlijk introvert te zijn poogt Mirthe deze kant van de mens meer ruimte te
geven in het dagelijkse leven. Ook biedt het kunstwerk een podium aan de mensen
die zich ongezien voelen.
Je kan bijdragen aan het Volk der Introverten van Sint-Gillis door mee te kleien
tijdens een boetseersessie. Jouw hoofdje wordt onderdeel van het kunstwerk, dat
zo groeit en groeit. Dat kan tijdens gezamenlijke sessies, maar je kan
doorlopend ook zelf komen kleien in de exporuimte, te midden van alle
gezichtjes. De hoofdjes worden niet afgebakken, maar zullen uiteindelijk buiten
geplaatst worden waar ze weer zullen verdwijnen. Terug naar waar de klei vandaan
komt, opnieuw onzichtbaar.
