People have always danced intensively together, and raves have always existed under various names. In 'While we are here', Lisa Vereertbrugghen investigates the timeless desire to dance hard collectively. She invited Claire Godsmark, Dolores Hulan, Eimi Leggett and Castélie Yalombo Lilonge to collectively practice hardcore rave parallel to folk dances that celebrate joy and togetherness.

Without nostalgia and with no fixed vision of the future, the group brings to life a hybrid techno-folk dance. While we are here works against control and celebrates a collective physicality.

Lisa Vereertbrugghen has been researching hardcore techno sound and dance styles since 2014, using performance, sound and installation. She often works with long-term collaborators Michael Langeder, Sophie Guisset, Vera Martins and Madison Bycroft. She also works as a dramaturg, performer and choreographer for various performance and visual artists in between Brussels, Berlin and Amsterdam. In recent years Lisa created Softcore  - a hardcore encounter (2019) and DISQUIET - sensational aesthetics of a technokin (2021). 'While we are here' (2023) is the first work she makes for a group, produced by the Ghent-based arts centre CAMPO.

Les gens ont toujours dansé intensément ensemble, et sous divers noms, les raves ont toujours existé. Dans "While we are here", Lisa Vereertbrugghen explore le désir intemporel de danser collectivement de manière intense. Elle a invité Claire Godsmark, Dolores Hulan, Eimi Leggett et Castélie Yalombo Lilonge à pratiquer collectivement la rave hardcore en parallèle des danses folkloriques qui célèbrent la joie et la camaraderie. Sans nostalgie et sans vision fixe de l'avenir, le groupe fait vivre une danse hybride techno-folk. "While we are here" va à contre-courant du contrôle et célèbre une physicalité collective.

Lisa Vereertbrugghen effectue des recherches sur les styles de son et de danse hardcore techno depuis 2014, en utilisant la performance, le son et l'installation. Elle travaille également en tant que dramaturge, performeuse et chorégraphe pour divers artistes de la performance et des arts visuels entre Bruxelles, Berlin et Amsterdam. Ces dernières années, Lisa a créé Softcore - a hardcore encounter (2019) et DISQUIET - sensational aesthetics of a technokin (2021). 'While we are here' (2023) est la première œuvre qu'elle réalise pour un groupe, produite par le centre d'arts basé à Gand, CAMPO.

Lisa Vereertbrugghen woont in Brussel en is danser, choreograaf en onderzoeker. Sinds 2014 doet ze onderzoek naar hardcore techno-dansstijlen in verschillende vormen: voorstellingen, lecture-performances, performance-installaties en publicaties. Ze werkt vaak samen met Michael Langeder, Sophie Guisset, Vera Martins en Madison Bycroft en werkt ook als dramaturg, performer en choreografe voor verschillende performance- en visuele artiesten tussen Brussel, Berlijn en Amsterdam. Lisa maakte Softcore  - a hardcore encounter (2019) en DISQUIET - sensational aesthetics of a technokin (2021). 'While we are here' (2023) is haar eerste groepsvoorstelling.
