Yousra Dahry, from Anderlecht, is in her thirties and has Moroccan roots. She is also a specialist educator, a radio presenter, a writer-actor of video clips and a slam singer. Silver-tongued and streetwise. A pen and a presence. Beyond that, it all came down to a matter of meetings – and desire – for this first solo show to be born. First at Le Rideau, then at Épiscène in Avignon, and on many other stages, attracting an enthusiastic and diverse audience, many of them new spectators.

In this one-woman show, the autobiography of this young woman marked by the ‘only-child syndrome’, who responds to expectations by swaggering along and who stubbornly defines herself through the collective. A life dissected, portrayed and embodied in a skilful dramaturgy that makes light of clichés. A life whose shortcomings are made up for by sassiness and resourcefulness. A real life, reconstructed and questioned with panache, humour and sensitivity.

C’est l’histoire d’une fille unique de parents marocains, dans les rues de Bruxelles,

parmi ses « frères ». 

Anderlechtoise, la trentaine, des racines marocaines, Yousra Dahry est aussi éducatrice spécialisée, animatrice radio, autrice-actrice de capsules vidéo, et pratique le slam. La tchatche et le terrain. Une plume et une présence. Ensuite, tout est affaire de rencontres – et d’envie – jusqu’à l’éclosion de ce premier solo de théâtre qui, au Rideau de Bruxelles d’abord, à Épiscène à Avignon ensuite, et sur bien d’autres plateaux, draine un public enthousiaste et divers, souvent neuf.

Seule-en-scène autobiographique de cette jeune femme marquée par le «syndrome de l’enfant unique», qui répond aux attentes en roulant des mécaniques, et obstinément se définit par le collectif. Une vie décortiquée, figurée, incarnée au fil d’une dramaturgie habile, se jouant des clichés. Une vie où la gouaille et la débrouille masquent les failles. La vraie vie, la vie d’une femme recomposée et questionnée avec panache, humour et sensibilité.

Yousra Dahry, een dertigjarige inwoonster van Anderlecht met Marokkaanse roots, is ook gespecialiseerd opvoedster, radiopresentatrice, videoclipschrijfster en -actrice en slamartieste. Radheid van tong en het terrein. Een pen en een aanwezigheid. Daarna is het allemaal een kwestie van ontmoetingen - en verlangen - tot dit eerste solospel geboren wordt. Eerst in Le Rideau, daarna in Épiscène in Avignon en op tal van andere podia trekt het een enthousiast en gevarieerd publiek, waaronder veel nieuwe bezoekers.

In deze one woman show wordt de autobiografie verteld van een jonge vrouw die getekend is door het "één-kind-syndroom", die inspeelt op verwachtingen door haar mouwen op te stropen en zichzelf koppig definieert via het collectief. Haar leven wordt ontleed, geportretteerd en belichaamd in een deskundige dramaturgie die met clichés speelt. Een leven waarin sluwheid en vindingrijkheid de foutjes maskeren. Het echte leven, opnieuw in elkaar gestoken en bevraagd met flair, humor en fijngevoeligheid.
