Guido Belcanto: 'Tedere Baldadigheden' - première

Fair is fair: it's been far too long since Guido Belcanto was back on the AB stage. And that while just about all of The King of Broken Hearts' AB passages were downright memorable. Especially his passage in the ◄◄ REWIND series - in which Belcanto performed his debut ‘Op Zoek Naar Romantiek’ (In Search of Romance) in its entirety - will always be remembered. That this series also featured dEUS, Jan De Wilde, Girls in Hawaii or Wim Mertens shows what a class act Belcanto is.Belcanto expressed his wish to have his brand new album - ‘Tedere Baldadigheden’ - premiered in AB. And look: a wish we are only too happy to realise. ‘Tedere Baldadigheden’ is once again vintage Belcanto with song titles - ‘Sex in strange places’, ‘I want to thank myself’ or ‘Alzeimerblues’ - that only Belcanto can come up with. Notable are the Dutch translations of ‘The Look You Give that Guy’ (Eels) and ‘La Médaille’ by his idol Renaud. Also notable: the passage of Lara Chedraoui (Intergalactic Lovers) and The Bonnie Blues, among others.Guido Belcanto will perform ‘Tedere Baldies’ in its entirety this evening with a 10-piece band (including The Bonnie Blues). Il est vrai que cela fait bien trop longtemps que Guido Belcanto n'est pas revenu sur la scène de l'AB. Et ce alors qu'à peu près tous les passages du Roi des cœurs brisés à l'AB étaient carrément mémorables. En particulier son passage dans la série ◄◄ REWIND - dans laquelle Belcanto a interprété son premier 'Op Zoek Naar Romantiek' (À la recherche de la romance) dans son intégralité - restera à jamais dans les mémoires. Le fait que cette série ait également accueilli dEUS, Jan De Wilde, Girls in Hawaii ou Wim Mertens montre à quel point Belcanto est un artiste de classe.Belcanto a exprimé son souhait de voir son tout nouvel album, 'Tedere Baldadigheden', présenté en avant-première à l'AB. Un souhait que nous sommes heureux de réaliser. Tedere Baldadigheden' est à nouveau du Belcanto vintage avec des titres de chansons - 'Sex in strange places', 'I want to thank myself' ou 'Alzeimerblues' - que seul Belcanto est capable d'inventer. A noter les traductions néerlandaises de « The Look You Give that Guy » (Eels) et de « La Médaille » de son idole Renaud. Eerlijk is eerlijk: het is veel te lang geleden dat Guido Belcanto nog eens op het podium van AB stond. En dat terwijl zowat alle AB-passages van De Koning der Gebroken Harten ronduit memorabel waren. Vooral zijn passage in de ◄◄ REWIND reeks - waarin Belcanto integraal zijn debuut ‘Op Zoek Naar Romantiek’ bracht - zal ons altijd bijblijven. Dat in deze reeks ook dEUS, Jan De Wilde, Girls in Hawaï of Wim Mertens aantraden, toont wat een klasbak Belcanto wel niet is.Belcanto drukte zijn wens uit om zijn gloednieuwe album – ‘Tedere Baldadigheden’ - in première te laten gaan in AB. En kijk: een wens die we maar al te graag realiseren. ‘Tedere Baldadigheden’ is opnieuw vintage Belcanto met songtitels - ‘Seks op vreemde plaatsen’, ‘Ik wil mezelf bedanken’ of ‘Alzeimerblues’ – die enkel Belcanto kan bedenken.
