The programme
Liszt’s 2nd Hungarian Rhapsody
One of the most famous Hungarian pieces ever written by Hungary’s famous composer Franz Liszt: a piece that nearly all of you probably heard, or saw before, be it in a concert hall or as a child watching Bugs Bunny or Tom&Jerry.
Márton Wirth’s “A life for Europe”
This piece won our orchestra’s competition for Hungarian Composers. It was written as an ode to Otto von Habsburg, the last crown-emperor of the Austro-Hungarian empire and one of the first leaders to promote the idea of European integration – a beautiful message in the current world.
Kodály’s Dances of Marosszék
A tribute to Hungarian folklore that goes straight to the heart and cannot leave anyone untouched.
Dvořák’s 8th symphony
After the break, the orchestra moves away from Hungary but stays in the region with this famous piece, also nicknamed the sunny symphony because it is such a glorious piece, combining Bohemian sounds with delicious lyricism, in other words: a real audience favourite!
One more reason to come
If you need a final reason to be convinced: the Brussels Chamber Ensemble managed to get just about the final concert date in the Royal Conservatory of Brussels before they embark on 10 years renovations.
So this is your last chance to discover this Brussels’ marvel until it reopens in 10 years (or 20 – one never knows…)!
We would be thrilled to have you in our audience!
