With his musical versatility, astute lyrics and fluid flows, the artist wrote hip-hop history with albums like Mos Def & Talib Kweli Are Black Star and the acclaimed Black On Both Sides. In 2017, he put a stop to his musical career in order to pursue other artistic endeavours.But one thing has always remained: his outspoken love of MF DOOM’s rhymes. Bey often spoke of how DOOM’s complex rhyme patterns and productions shaped his view of the hip-hop world. As a tribute to MF DOOM aka Viktor Vaughan aka The Villain aka King Gheedorah or simply DOOM, who passed away in 2020, Yasiin Bey comes to Brussels for an exclusive show in which he will only perform his favourite tracks by the masked artist.THANK GOD, IT'S DOOMSDAY!

In the first part, attendees will enjoy the soulful melodies of German Lieder by F. Mendelssohn and Brahms, accompanied by a piano interlude with music by R. Schumann. This first part evokes the freshness of the season, with a recurring theme of flowers and the awakening of spring. In the second part, the audience will experience the captivating opera duets of Tchaikovsky, Delibes, and Offenbach. Attendees are invited to join for an evening of music that captures the beauty and vitality of springtime. It’s a set of original compositions written with the aim of experimenting with new ways of exposing sound, deepening interactions and the role of each instrument in the group. After researching into the repertoire of the great Fred Hersch, Enrico Pieranunzi and Keith Jarrett, It became very important to try and put down on paper all the inspiration they provided. And this with all the precious help of his close circle. The music is characterized by the necessary use of silence and space to express the feelings of personal experiences. FREE ENTRANCE
