Le temps d'une soirée, Bozar vous fait vivre les récits des Mille et Une Nuits avec la puissance des cordes et du piano. Le compositeur danois Christian Frederik Emil Horneman, après le succès de son ouverture de concert Fairytale, a décidé de consacrer un opéra entier à la figure d'Aladdin. Un siècle et demi plus tard, le compositeur-pianiste turc Fazil Say puise dans une ancienne légende persane qui rappelle la fable du phénix renaissant de ses cendres. Fazil Say a écrit son concerto Anka kusu, plein de rythmes orientaux, sur mesure pour les frères néerlandais Arthur et Lucas Jussen. Ensemble, ils parcourent à quatre mains cette œuvre récente de 2020. Mais toutes les histoires ont malheureusement une fin, comme l'a également éprouvé Franz Schubert. Sa dernière, la Symphonie No. 9, est un bouillonnement de joie et de tristesse.

Slechts één concertavond volstaat om de verhalen van Duizend-en-een-nacht met strijkersgeweld en pianoverleiding in te kleuren. De Deense componist Christian Frederik Emil Horneman besloot na het succes van zijn concertouverture Fairytale een hele opera te wijden aan de figuur van Aladdin. Anderhalve eeuw later grijpt de Turkse componist-pianist Fazil Say naar een oude Perzische sage die doet denken aan de fabel van de feniks die uit zijn as herrijst. Fazil Say schreef zijn concerto Anka kusu vol oosterse ritmes op maat van de Nederlandse broers Arthur en Lucas Jussen. Ze gaan vierhandig en in vogelvlucht door het recente werk uit 2020. Maar aan alle sprookjes komt helaas een einde, zo ondervond ook Franz Schubert. Zijn laatste, Negende Symfonie is een stuiptrekking van vreugde én verdriet.

Just one concert evening is enough to colour the tales of One Thousand and One Nights with strings and piano accompaniment. Danish composer Christian Frederik Emil Horneman decided to dedicate an entire opera to the figure of Aladdin after the success of his concert overture Fairytale. A century and a half later, Turkish composer-pianist Fazil Say reaches for an ancient Persian saga reminiscent of the fable of the phoenix rising from its ashes. Fazil Say wrote his concerto Anka kusu full of oriental rhythms especially for Dutch brothers Arthur and Lucas Jussen. They go four-handed through the recent work from 2020. But all fairy tales unfortunately come to an end, Franz Schubert also experienced. His last, Ninth Symphony is a final convulsion of joy and sorrow.
