On 18 November, Ludovico Einaudi will halt at the Bozar in Brussels. Last summer, the Italian pianist and composer sold out no less than two festival days at Gent Jazz in record time. So if you don't want to miss him this time, don't wait too long!
 
Ludovico Einaudi is so universally present and well-known that it is difficult to imagine that he too comes from somewhere in particular. After his studies, the Italian pianist and composer went to work for some time with the celebrated contemporary composers Luciano Berio and Karlheinz Stockhausen For a moment, it seemed as if his path was mapped out towards music theatre and opera - a path he also walked in the eighties. At the end of that decade, however, he was being asked to write film music, putting the Italian firmly on the path towards worldwide fame. Meanwhile - we are in the mid-1990s - his solo work - minimalist piano compositions, sometimes complemented by some other instruments but always equally soothing and involving - was finding its way to a larger audience.
 
During the beginning of the new century, Einaudi burst onto the scene with ‘Una Mattina’ and ‘Divenire’. Both albums found their way to the top of the classical music charts and the general charts. Not that it was not good for Einaudi’s career, but from then on it was a roller-coaster that the average pop star can only dream of; with soundtracks for Oscar-winning films, solo albums that reached millions of people and sold-out world tours in ever-expanding venues and arenas. The effectiveness of his minimalist approach was remarkable; with a few notes, combined with some overlapping themes, the Italian draws every listener into his world. There is a lot of nature in that world; Einaudi is not only vociferous about the effects of climate change, he also regularly draws to the countryside in various places in the world to get inspiration for his music.
 
Main achievements include "I Giorni" (2001), "Nightbook" (2009), "In A Time Lapse" (2013), "Taranta Project" (2015), "Elements" (2015) , "Seven Days Walking" (2019) and "Underwater" (2022). With the latter, he played to sold-out venues in America, Central Asia and Europe. In Belgium, he then sold out the Bozar (Brussels), Capitole (Ghent) and Koningin Elisabethzaal (Antwerp) in no time.

Ludovico Einaudi annonce aujourd’hui son retour en Belgique. Le 18 novembre, Ludovico fera escale à Bozar, à Bruxelles. L’été dernier, le pianiste minimaliste italien avait donné deux concerts sold-out au Gent Jazz. Les billets s’étaient vendus comme des petits pains. De formation classique, Ludovico Einaudi s’est fait connaître d’un large public grâce à ses bandes originales de films et de séries télévisées tels que « Intouchables », « I’m Still Here », « Docteur Jivago », « Acquario » et, plus récemment, « La Tresse » et « A Cielo Abierto ». Ludovico a ouvert grand les portes du succès avec ses albums « Una Mattina » et « Divenire ». Ceux-ci se sont hissés en tête des classements de musique classique et des classements généraux. Ce n’est pas que la carrière de Ludovico était atone auparavant, mais à partir de ce moment-là, il a connu une ascension fulgurante dont la pop star moyenne ne peut que rêver. Les critiques encensent ses œuvres pianistiques oniriques et ses paysages sonores orchestrés avec art. Ils clament haut et fort qu’il s’inscrit dans la longue tradition de grands maîtres tels que Chopin, Satie, Glass et Reich. Il sort régulièrement des albums en solo, interprétant ses compositions intrigantes avec des formations toujours différentes. L’efficacité de son approche minimaliste est remarquable : au fil de quelques notes, de quelques thèmes qui se chevauchent, le Transalpin entraîne chaque auditeur dans son univers, avec de multiples références à la nature. Ludovico s’exprime non seulement en long et en large sur les effets du changement climatique, mais il se retire aussi régulièrement dans la nature, dans divers endroits du monde, pour y puiser l’inspiration créatrice.

Ludovico Einaudi kondigt vandaag zijn terugkaar naar België aan. Op 18 november speelt hij in de Bozar in Brussel. Afgelopen zomer verkocht de Italiaanse pianist en componist in recordtempo maar liefst twee festivaldagen uit tijdens Gent Jazz. Wie hem niet wil missen deze keer, wacht dus best niet te lang!
 
De klassiek geschoolde Einaudi verwierf faam bij een breed publiek met zijn soundtracks voor films en televisieseries als 'Intouchables’, 'I’m Still Here’, 'Doctor Zhivago’, 'Acquario’ en meer recent ‘La Tresse’ en ‘A Cielo Abierto’. Einaudi breekt volledig door met ‘Una Mattina’ en ‘Divenire’. Beide albums vinden hun weg naar de top van de hitlijsten voor klassieke muziek én de algemene hitlijsten. Niet dat het daarvoor niet goed ging met de carrière van Einaudi maar vanaf dan is het een rollercoaster waar de gemiddelde popster enkel van kan dromen. Critici loven hem voor zijn dromerige pianowerken en kunstig georkestreerde soundscapes. Ze voegen hem vlot toe aan het rijtje van meesters als Chopin, Satie, Glass en Reich. Hij brengt met de regelmaat van de klok solo-albums uit waarbij hij zijn intrigerende composities met steeds wisselende bezettingen uitvoert. De doeltreffendheid van zijn minimalistische aanpak is merkwaardig; met enkele noten, met enkele overlappende thema’s trekt de Italiaan elke luisteraar mee in zijn wereld. In die wereld is veel natuur aanwezig; Einaudi is niet alleen zeer uitgesproken over de gevolgen van klimaatverandering, hij trekt zich ook regelmatig terug in de natuur op verschillende plaatsen in de wereld om inspiratie op te doen voor zijn muziek.
