The newly opened hotel Mix Brussels announces the first edition of Curated, a collectible design exhibition open to all, featuring the works of 44 designers and curated by Lionel Jadot (who was just awarded Designer of the Year 2024 by Maison & Objet). This unique event transforms the former Royale Belge into a vibrant space for designers, artists, collectors and architects to exchange and share their work.

​The three-day gathering is taking place from Friday, October 11, to Sunday, October 13, 2024. The exhibition is open and accessible to everyone - both hotel guests and visitors - giving a rare opportunity to discover a diverse range of collectible design in the unique setting of Mix Brussels. In the remarkable 70s building, where the old and the new coexist, Curated will introduce the creations and projects of designers and artists curated by Lionel Jadot, the (interior) designer who envisioned the renovation of Mix.

Curated serves as a platform for showcasing collectible design and fostering connections among designers, artists, and the public. In a landscape increasingly influenced by globalization, this event highlights the importance of locality and craft, inviting both Belgian and international audiences to engage in discourse around the future of design.

The event will include a vernissage and various opportunities for guests and participants to interact with the exhibited works, all set within the shared spaces of Mix. On the occasion, cocktails, brunch all day and several food options. will be served in both the Romeo Bar and the Joule Eatery.

Attendees will experience an environment where each piece of art or design not only stands independently but also interacts with the architectural features of the hotel. From expansive open areas to intimate rooms, the exhibition will showcase how functional art can enhance our surroundings.

Curated will present a variety of works, including ceramics, woodworking, and experimental materials. Notable participants include Boquita De Cielo, a ceramics studio based in London; and Studio mo-mo, a French creative studio of artisans and artists. Belgian artists such as Thibeau Scarcériaux, Dirk Meylaerts, and Nathalie Van der Massen will also contribute their interpretations of craft and design.

Lionel Jadot's approach to curating this event aligns with the vision of Mix Brussels—a multifaceted space that combines a 180-room hotel, restaurants, a food market, co-working areas, and wellness & gym facilities, all designed with a focus on creating a true community. The building, formerly known as La Royale Belge, has been transformed into a destination that merges hospitality, art, and design.

After the renovation of the Royale Belge building, a masterpiece of 1960s brutalist architecture, Lionel Jadot gave carte blanche to the designers of Zaventem Ateliers (a former industrial wasteland of 6000M2 that is used as a place for artisans, artists, designers and set designers to meet, discuss, create and produce) to work on the project under his direction - the first time the group have worked all together. Employing a horizontal approach with no middlemen, firmly anchored in the building’s aesthetic, Jadot, his team, and the designers of the 25 studios that (literally) surround them, along with 27 other Belgian designers, set to work to create furniture, light fixtures, sculptures, tapestries, curtains, accessories and more, all crafted specially for this unique location and bring out the unique atmosphere that defines Mix.
