Quand les lumières s’éteignent dans le vieux théâtre de Central Park, les marionnettes prennent vie. Parmi elles, Don, qui joue le même rôle de bouffon depuis des années. Il rêve d’avoir pour une fois un rôle de vrai héros et de découvrir le monde. Il prend son courage à deux mains et claque la porte. En chemin, il croise DJ Doggie Dog, une peluche abandonnée qui aimerait devenir une star du rap. C’est le début d’une extraordinaire histoire d’amitié. Une grande aventure en plein cœur de New York pour transformer leurs rêves en réalité : même les plus petits personnages peuvent jouer de grands rôles !

********** Français ********** Nouvellement restauré en 4K pour coïncider avec son 40e anniversaire, le film de 1984 a été réalisé par le célèbre cinéaste Jonathan Demme et est considéré par les critiques comme le plus grand film de concert de tous les temps. Stop Making Sense met en scène les membres de Talking Heads, David Byrne, Tina Weymouth, Chris Frantz et Jerry Harrison, ainsi que Bernie Worrell, Alex Weir, Steve Scales, Lynn Mabry et Edna Holt. La performance live a été tournée pendant trois nuits au Pantages Theater d'Hollywood en décembre 1983 et comprend les chansons les plus mémorables du groupe. ********** Nederlands ********** De film uit 1984 werd geregisseerd door de veelgeprezen filmmaker Jonathan Demme en is nieuw gerestaureerd in 4K ter gelegenheid van de 40e verjaardag. De film wordt door critici beschouwd als de beste concertfilm aller tijden. In Stop Making Sense spelen Talking Heads-leden David Byrne, Tina Weymouth, Chris Frantz en Jerry Harrison, maar ook Bernie Worrell, Alex Weir, Steve Scales, Lynn Mabry en Edna Holt. Het live-optreden werd gefilmd gedurende drie avonden in het Pantages Theater in Hollywood in december 1983 en bevat de meest memorabele nummers van de band.

La nuit du coup d'Etat Lisbonne 74 de Ginette Lavigne - 2001, 57' Portugal, la délivrance, reportage de Josy Dubié - 1974, 36' Le 25 avril 1974, au Portugal, un coup d'État militaire organisé par de jeunes officiers regroupés dans une organisation clandestine – le Mouvement des Forces Armées (MFA) – renversait le gouvernement de Marcelo Caetano, le successeur de Salazar. Dans le film : "La nuit du coup d'Etat" de Ginette Lavigne datant de 2001, Otelo de Carvalho qui a conçu et écrit le plan des opérations, explique et décrit en détail la technique du coup d'État. Plus que dans une interview, il revit sur les lieux même de cette nuit-là, les tensions, les organisations, les surprises... Tout est détaillé : l'élaboration du plan, de combien de forces il disposait, comment il s'est assuré des appuis, quels étaient les objectifs prioritaires, comment il a planifié leur occupation etc. Un second film, le reportage de Josy Dubié de 1974 : "Portugal, la délivrance" nous montrera la réaction de la rue. (avec le soutien de la Sonuma) En présence de la chorale "Chants d'attac"

Sarah Lederman (1994) studied Documentary and Fiction at the Royal Institute for Theatre, Cinema & Sound (RITCS) in Brussels and is one of the 'Future Five' of international award-winning film director Lukas Dhont. As part of the exhibition Chantal Akerman: Travelling, Bozar selected three short films by Lederman that will be screened at Cinéma RITCS. The films highlight the talent and stylistic similarities between Lederman and Chantal Akerman. Lukas Dhont and Sarah Lederman will introduce the screenings, followed by a conversation about Lederman's filmography and production style, and Chantal Akerman's ongoing influence on her work. Les Racines de l'Eau (documentary, 2021) Light (documentary, 2022) Friday, 1st of July (fiction, 2024) "Chantal Akerman’s films inspire me in to telling stories that are simple yet vulnerable where the viewer is part of something authentic. Dans le cadre de l'exposition Chantal Akerman : Travelling à Bozar, trois courts métrages de Lederman sélectionnés par Bozar seront projetés au Cinéma RITCS, mettant en lumière son talent ainsi que ses similitudes stylistiques avec Chantal Akerman. Bozar selecteerde in het kader van de tentoonstelling Chantal Akerman: Travelling drie kortfilms uit Lederman’s filmografie die het talent, de thema's en de dialoog tussen haar stijl en Chantal Akerman laten zien. De vertoningen, die zullen plaatsvinden in Cinema Ritcs, worden voorafgegaan door een introductie van Lukas Dhont en Sarah Lederman.   Afsluitend vindt er een talk plaats tussen de twee cineasten die het zullen hebben over Lederman’s filmografie en productiestijl. Lederman zal blootleggen op welke manier Chantal Akerman haar inspireerde en blijft inspireren. This includes brash and no-nonsense teenager Jewel, who Marian soon realises is living alone with no obvious means of supporting herself. Marian finds herself striking a deal with Jewel – she won’t report her to the authorities if Jewel helps her get the locals to fill out their census forms. As they walk the streets of Dublin, an unlikely friendship blooms.

In Sabra, one of Beirut’s toughest urban slums, sectarianism and violence is a permanent way of life. Rabia, a 38-year-old hardworking but undocumented Lebanese mother cannot afford to admit her chronically ill daughter to hospital, leaving the life of her innocent child hanging in the balance. In the Shadow of Beirut weaves four compelling storylines together in a searing portrait of a people and a city struggling to survive amidst some of the most difficult living conditions imaginable. In this failing state, it is the vulnerable who suffer most. Through intimate, character driven and cinematic storytelling, the stark reality of life for the protagonists of the film is symbolic of the hundreds of thousands of others who fight for survival in the most diverse country in the Middle East, which has the highest per capita refugee numbers in the world. This is a nation suffering one of the worst global financial meltdowns on record, a country and a city that many now are trying desperately to flee. Despite the inhumane conditions and enormous challenges, the areas’ inhabitants possess unfathomable reserves of resilience and even hope, as they go about their daily lives in the struggle to forge a brighter future for their families.

Hij ontmoet 3 personages, die zich aandienen als klankbord voor zijn gevoelens van ontreddering : een oude werkmakker, het barmeisje Alice en de Marokkaanse trambestuurder Abdel. De ontmoetingen leiden tot een desastreuze finale aan het hellend vlak van Ronquières.

Ó Bhéal is a cinematic exploration of the rise of Hip Hop and Electronic artists in Ireland embracing oral traditions of folklore, ancient poetry and sean nós singing to create a new fusion sound, a culture clash through music. An ensemble piece, featuring Irish language rappers Mory and Oisín Mac, producer and multi-instrumentalist Fehdah, and Limerick rapper Strange Boy. This beautiful black & white film delves deep into these four artists’ process and how they are breaking new ground in Irish music. Ó Bhéal shines a light on a modern musical movement in Ireland. The Hip Hop scene in this country is vibrant and far reaching. But for many years the scene has focussed on a derived version of Hip Hop that is drawn from American and British styles and subject matter. This film captures a moment in time in which authentically Irish Hip Hop is emerging as a unique, vital sub-genre that is growing in popularity. It reveals how telling our own stories, in our own accents and language, helps us to connect our history and heritage to this contemporary music in a new and interesting way.
