With touching and dazzling fiction films, ARTE will take you off the beaten track this year with films about provoking and risky themes. ********** Français ********** Partenaire du BSFF depuis 2022, la célèbre chaine de télévision apportera un vent d’inédit au festival en proposant un programme d’un genre nouveau au BSFF : le moyen métrage. Avec des films de fiction émouvants et vibrants qui n’hésitent pas à s’attaquer à des sujets provocants et risqués, ARTE vous emmène cette année hors des sentiers battus. ********** Nederlands ********** Als partner van het BSFF sinds 2022, zal de fameuze zender een frisse wind door het festival doen waaien met een programma van een nieuw genre in het BSFF: films van een gemiddelde duur. ********** English ********** The story of cyclist Biniam Girmay.At the age of 17, while training in his home country Eritrea in Africa,he dreams of riding the Tour de France. Against all odds, Biniam climbs up the international rankings. But will he make it into a top team and get selected for the tour?Biniam Girmay, a 17 year old promising cyclist from the African country Eritrea, dreams of one day riding the Tour de France, the most prestigious Grand Tour in the world.For years he thought the Tour was only for European or white cyclists, as over its more than 100 editions, only a handful of the participants were black. Biniam’s evolving performances give a rare insight into cycling in Africa.But to make it into and international pro team, Europe’s visa procedures are a constant hassle. And once he marries in Eritrea and becomes a father, the distance of 6.000kms takes its toll. Against all odds, Biniam climbs up the international rankings. When at age 21, he wins his first ‘Classic’, he proves African riders can win big races. He becomes a cycling hero overnight, but can he change cycling forever? ‘This is my moment’ gives a unique insight into Biniam Girmay’s climb to success and to adulthood. For more than six years, Lieven was the only friend and filmmaker allowed to film Biniam's life in Eritrea as well as in Europe. Having Biniam also filming with a vlogging camera, they have made this film together in a co-creation process. ********** Français ********** Avant-Première en présence du réalisateur Séance Bike Talk, organisée en partenariat avec Pro Velo Biniam Girmay, un cycliste prometteur érythréen de 17 ans, rêve de participer un jour au Tour de France. Sur plus de cent éditions du Tour, seulement six coureurs cyclistes étaient noirs. Sera-t-il le septième ?Ce documentaire montre l'ascension de Biniam Girmay vers le succès sur plus de six années. Malgré les défis liés à l’obtention de visas et à la distance avec sa famille en Érythrée, il devient un coureur cycliste professionnel renommé, remportant la classique flandrienne Gand-Wevelgem à 21 ans, et démontrant que les coureurs africains peuvent aussi entrer dans la légende. ********** Nederlands ********** Biniam Girmay, een 17-jarige veelbelovende wielrenner uit het Afrikaanse land Eritrea, droomt ervan om de Tour de France te rijden. Sinds 1903 hebben meer dan 10.000 wielrenners meegedaan, maar slechts zes van hen waren zwart. Zal Biniam nummer zeven worden?Reeds in 2008 stond filmmaker Lieven Corthouts op DOCVILLE met zijn film My Future. Nadien volgden nog bekroonde documentaires als Little Heaven en The Invisible City: Kakuma. Corthouts volgt in zijn nieuwste film vermaard wielrenner Biniam Grimay vanaf het prille begin van diens carrière. Een bijzonder portret, gefilmd over zes jaar, van een toptalent dat gestaag opklimt in de internationale ranglijst.

Breng de winnaars een warm applaus en feliciteer hen tijdens de borrel die na de ceremonie wordt aangeboden. Gule is preparing a long-way dream wedding day in Serekaniye, a city in Syrian Kurdistan. But the city is bombed by the Turkish army, and the invasion starts. She has to flee from the city. On the way, she meets Barin, who could not finish her wedding that day, and Naze, with whom she ends up sharing life and broken dreams in the school conditioned as a shelter for refugees.
