Phil Abraham (trombone), Steven Delannoye (tenor & soprano sax),Igor Gehenot (piano), Sal La Rocca (double bass) & Umberto Odone (drums)  Sal La Rocca is a major bassist of the Belgian and European scene. He is the guardian of actual hard bop and post bop, solid and strong. He’s a protector of a mainstream jazz that knows how to reinvent itself, look forward and jostle with the ordinary while respecting fundamentals. Alongside his old accomplice Phil Abraham at the trombone, he’s gathered a new guard of spirited and talented jazz musicians. Nothing beats this ensemble in blowing up an already energetic music, and melodies full of sensitivity. On stage, the incandescent saxophonist Steven Delannoye responds to the attacks of pianist Igor Gehenot, while, behind his ‘barrels,’ Umberto Odone beats skins and cymbals. It’s incredible! Sal’s jazz is pleasure in its purest form: good mood that travels along the stage and spills into the audience. It’s a jazz slightly tainted by Latin or Caribbean choruses, but also a jazz full of demands (it remains a music born out of struggles) turned towards optimism. Quoi de mieux pour fêter l’été que de siroter une boisson fraiche entre amis sur des airs de jazz ? La place Reine Astrid à Jette sera le centre des festivités ce 21 juin dès 17h30. La fête commencera en force avec le brass band bruxellois, Brussels Bayou Orchestra qui vous emmènera dans l’ambiance des fêtes folles de la Nouvelles Orléans. On compte sur eux pour mettre l’ambiance tout au long du festival. Nous retrouverons ensuite sur scène schroothoop, groupe innovant de la scène jazz actuelle qui a la particularité de créer ses propres instruments à partir de matériaux de récupération. Leur show est un plaisir pour les oreilles mais aussi pour les yeux ; c’est captivant de découvrir l’inventivité de leurs créations. Le groupe incorpore sans effort le jazz, la musique d’Afrique du Nord et les rythmes Afro-Cubains, ce qui donne un voyage dansant et hypnotique. Un rendez-vous qui ravira petit·es et grand·es. Les femmes seront encore à l’honneur avec le groupe Adja. Adja Fassa est une artiste belge pluridisciplinaire et ambitieuse. Elle est non seulement musicienne, mais aussi créatrice de théâtre et elle développe actuellement ce qu’elle appelle elle-même « Une soul sophistiquée dans un format de concert hybride ». Avec ses influences soul, gospel et jazz, sa musique se rapproche de la néo-soul spirituel d’Erykah Badu, l’empowerment noir de Solange et l’approche veloutée de Lianne La Havas. Le journal De Morgen voit en elle « l’une des six promesses belges de 2023 ». Ces deux premiers groupes sont signés sur l’excellent label belge Sdban Records. Le groupe bruxelleois NØ Steam vous attend pour clôturer cette belle journée sur des notes de jazz, de funk et hip-hop. Les musiciens nous plongent dans la fièvre de la période électro-jazz en la mélangeant à des influences contemporaines allant d’Herbie Hancock à Earth Wind & Fire. L’énergie des cuivres, le groove puissant de la section rythmique (que l’on peut retrouver dans le groupé électro ECHT! ), le son des platines de DJ Eb Kaito, compétiteur international en la matière, les improvisations bouillonnantes et les arrangements minutieux font l’identité unique de ce groupe.
