FREE 7.30pm What’s All This Dramaturgy About? with a response by Castélie Yalombo Lilonge and friendsA drink and launch of Mophradat’s latest booklet from the series Read the Room that looks at the different scopes of dramaturgy within choreographic practice, in the presence of some of the contributors. Castélie Yalombo Lilonge and several friends perform a text in response to the booklet. 8.30pm Nothing Will Remain… Other Than the Thorn Lodged in the Throat of this World Performance by Haig Aivazian and Noor Abed  In a collaboration commissioned by Mophradat for Read the Room Festival, Haig Aivazian and Noor Abed guide the audience through a collective sonic experiment. Sifting through recorded poems, songs, and recitations, the pair have composed a medley made up of guttural sounds, hums, hisses, sighs, whistles, whispers, mumbles, gasps, coughs...Through a loose choreography mirroring the porosity of sound transmission, they will ask the audience to activate mouths and larynxes, in a call and response exercise that will have them listening ‘in the moment’ to the very resonance they generate. This will be an attempt to create a space of collective synchrony and action, a moment in constant formation where the room is traveled and transformed by vibration, where the audience becomes a choir and their bodies a resonance chamber.  9.30pm Makimakkuk Live Experience a unique live performance blending genres such as Palestinian folk, experimental, hip-hop, electronic, and ambient. The artist's concept of Sovereign Hop/SoveRap/Rapsiyade—a term they coined—reflects their creative freedom and commitment to self-determination. This revolutionary subgenre integrates diverse influences and rhythms to assert indigenous sovereignty and resist the effects of colonialism and cultural homogenization. Through original compositions, live rapping, singing, spoken word, and DJing, the performance explores themes of self-expression, justice, and mental health, challenging conventional genre boundaries and celebrating cultural identity.  Haig Aivazian is an artist living in Beirut. Working across a range of media and modes of address, he delves into the ways in which power embeds, affects, and moves people, objects, animals, landscape and architecture.  Noor Abed is a Palestinian artist who works at the intersection of performance and film. Her practice examines notions of social choreographies and collective formations, combining forms of the ‘staged’ and the ‘documentary’. Based in Ramallah, Makimakkuk is a Palestinian music producer, performing artist, MC, and selector; a music blender. Mophradat is a Brussels-based association that creates opportunities for artists from the Arab world through an inventive approach to funding, commissioning, collaborating, and gathering. Launched by Mophradat in 2023, New Agents is a programme that brings together a group of people from across arts fields from the Arab world, whose practices are singular, future facing, and committed to public engagement, to work towards a joint project. The New Agents are Bayan Kiwan, Dani Arbid, Nour El Safoury, Sara Bouzgarrou, and Siwar Krai(y)tem.

Other Than the Thorn Lodged in the Throat of this World Performance de Haig Aivazian et Noor Abed Dans une collaboration commandée par Mophradat pour le festival Read the Room, Haig Aivazian et Noor Abed guident le public dans une expérience sonore collective. Passant au crible des poèmes, des chansons et des récitations enregistrés, le duo a composé un medley de sons gutturaux,  bourdonnements, sifflements, soupirs, chuchotements, marmonnements, halètements, toux... À travers une chorégraphie libre qui reflète la porosité de la transmission du son, iels demanderont au public d'activer bouches et larynx, dans un exercice  dans un exercice de questions-réponse qui les amènera à écouter « dans l'instant » la résonance même qu'ils génèrent. Il s'agit de créer un espace de synchronisation et d'action. 21.30 Makimakkuk LiveDécouvrez un spectacle unique mêlant des genres tels que le folk palestinien, l'expérimental, le hip-hop, l'électronique et l'ambient. Le concept de Sovereign Hop/SoveRap/Rapsiyade - un terme inventé par l'artiste - reflète sa liberté créative et son engagement en faveur de l'autodétermination. Ce sous-genre révolutionnaire intègre diverses influences et rythmes pour affirmer la souveraineté indigène et résister aux effets du colonialisme et de l'homogénéisation culturelle. À travers des compositions originales, du rap en direct, du chant, du spoken word et du DJing, le spectacle explore les thèmes de l'expression personnelle, de la justice et de la santé mentale, en remettant en question les frontières conventionnelles entre les genres et en célébrant l'identité culturelle. Haig Aivazian est un artiste vivant à Beyrouth. Dans sa pratique, il mobilise un large éventail de médias et de modes d'expression, et s'intéresse à la manière dont le pouvoir englobe, affecte et déplace les personnes, les objets, les animaux, les paysages et l'architecture. Noor Abed est une artiste palestinienne qui travaille à l'intersection de la performance et du cinéma. Sa pratique examine les notions de chorégraphies sociales et de formations collectives, en combinant des formes de « mise en scène » et de « documentaire ».Basée à Ramallah, Makimakkuk est une productrice de musique palestinienne, une artiste de scène, une MC et une sélectionneuse ; une mélangeuse de musique.Mophradat est une association basée à Bruxelles qui crée des opportunités pour les artistes du monde arabe à travers une approche inventive du financement, de la commande, de la collaboration et du rassemblement. Lancé par Mophradat en 2023, New Agents est un programme qui rassemble un groupe de personnes issues de différents domaines artistiques du monde arabe, dont les pratiques sont singulières, tournées vers l'avenir et engagées auprès du public, afin de travailler à un projet commun. Castélie Yalombo Lilonge en verschillende vrienden brengen een tekst in antwoord op het boekje. 20:30 Nothing Will Remain… Other Than the Thorn Lodged in the Throat of this World  Performance door Haig Aivazian en Noor Abed In een samenwerking in opdracht van Mophradat voor Read the Room Festival begeleiden Haig Aivazian en Noor Abed het publiek in een collectief sonisch experiment. Ze hebben opgenomen gedichten, liedjes en voordrachten doorgenomen en een medley samengesteld van keelklanken, geneurie, gesis, gezucht, gefluit, gefluister, gemompel, gehijg, gehoest... Door middel van een losse choreografie die de poreusheid van geluidsoverdracht weerspiegelt, zullen ze het publiek vragen om monden en strottenhoofd te activeren, in een vraag- en antwoordoefening die hen 'in het moment' laat luisteren naar de resonantie die ze zelf genereren. Dit zal een poging zijn om een ruimte van collectieve synchronie en actie te creëren, een moment in constante formatie waar de ruimte wordt doorkruist en getransformeerd door vibratie, waar het publiek een koor wordt en hun lichamen een resonantiekamer. 21:30 Makimakkuk Live  Beleef een unieke live performance waarin genres als Palestijnse folk, experimenteel, hiphop, elektronica en ambient samenkomen. Haar praktijk onderzoekt noties van sociale choreografieën en collectieve formaties, waarbij ze vormen van het 'geënsceneerde' en het 'documentaire' combineert.     Makimakkuk, gevestigd in Ramallah, is een Palestijnse muziekproducer, uitvoerend artiest, MC en selecteur; een muzikale blender. Mophradat is een in Brussel gevestigde vereniging die kansen creëert voor kunstenaars uit de Arabische wereld door een inventieve benadering van financiering, opdrachten, samenwerking en ontmoeting. New Agents, gelanceerd door Mophradat in 2023, is een programma dat een groep mensen uit verschillende kunstdisciplines uit de Arabische wereld samenbrengt om aan een project te werken. Het werk van ieder van hen is specifiek. Wat hen verbindt, is hun toekomstgerichtheid en toewijding aan publiek engagement.
