Animopera est un concert-spectacle du projet « Premiers pas à l’Opéra » qui se veut être une introduction à l’opéra et à l’opérette spécialement destinée aux enfants. Une plongée dans le bestiaire du monde de l’opéra : des arias de chats, de chiens, de canards, d’ânes, de mouches etc. écrits par Rossini, Mozart, Bazin, Messager, Offenbach et chantés par une soprane et un baryton. Retrouver cette magie de l’enfance où l’animal peuple encore le monde des petits lorsqu’ils apprennent à voir, à parler et à lire…

Along the way, friendships are made despite the hardships and hope is found amidst the horror. Ali has to cross several countries, a desert and the Mediterranean along with hundreds of migrants seeking a better future. He arrives at the Brussels South railway station in 2019, alone, without knowing a word of French or Dutch. He is 14 years old …   This incredible epic is the true story of Ali Abdi Omar, adapted for the opera in collaboration with Ali himself. This moving creation reconstructs all the stages of his journey. A sensory experience where electronic music, voice, string and wind instruments, percussion and dance pay a vibrant tribute to the resilience of a young boy forced, like so many others, to leave his family and home in order to survive. ********** Français ********** Nul ne fuit par plaisir. Het waargebeurde verhaal van Ali Abdi Omar komt nu tot leven in een nieuwe opera, gecreëerd in nauwe samenwerking met Ali zelf. Een zintuiglijke ervaring waarin elektronische muziek, stem, snaar- en blaasinstrumenten, percussie en dans een aangrijpend eerbetoon brengen aan de veerkracht van een tiener die, zoals zovele lotgenoten, zijn familie en zijn thuis moest achterlaten om te overleven.

********** English ********** DREAM is a five-hour score moving between music, dance and theater. The artists bring to the stage a durational performance, an action without beginning or end, long enough to make one forget the very concept of time. The viewer will be able to move, doze off or dream to his or her heart’s content. Spectators are invited to visit the space for as long as they wish, as if they were inside a museum. The dramaturgical and aesthetic framework, that generates and alters the performers’ state, is formed by music performed live by the pianist, soundscapes composed by Aurora Bauza and Pere Jou, and lighting by Valeria Foti.   Alessandro Sciarroni is an Italian performance artist who involves professionals from different disciplines and uses techniques from dance, as well as circus or sports. In 2019 he received the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement in Dance by the Venice Biennial.  In collaboration with the Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Bruxelles. The public is free to move around the space, to leave and re-enter. You can arrive at any time and watch the performance for as long as you wish. Depending on the number of visitors, you may have to wait before you can enter. En 2019, il a reçu le Lion d'or de la Biennale de Venise pour l'ensemble de sa carrière dans le domaine de la danse.  En collaboration avec l'Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Bruxelles. Le public est libre de se déplacer dans l'espace, de le quitter et d'y revenir. Vous pouvez arriver à tout moment et assister à la performance aussi longtemps que vous le souhaitez. ********** English ********** "It may be a play, but it starts out like a film. The heart of the work is in the cinema," Christiane Jatahy says of the play."It is through cinema that we arrive on the stage.”  This story is 3000 years old, but it is replayed every day in cinema, but also in Homer's ‘Odyssey.’ All over the world, people cross borders in search of asylum or a home.   The film travels through Jenin, Palestine, refugee camps in Lebanon and Greece, downtown Johannesburg, the Amazon rainforest and ends up in Rio de Janeiro. The context of the filming may be documentary, but the whole thing is primarily fiction. The actors in these communities take Homer's verses to speak about their reality. The actors are manifestations of Odysseus, Penelope and Telemachus, they draw a straight line from ancient Greek characters to each of us, present, in the theatre.  For some people in exile or in countries at war, only the present exists, the past is already too far away or almost destroyed, and the future is unthinkable. Only the time of waiting remains. A present that overflows.  • Born in Rio de Janeiro, Christiane Jatahy has degrees in theatre and journalism, and a Masters degree in art and philosophy. In January 2022, Christiane Jatahy was awarded the Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale for her entire theatrical work. Created in 2020, ‘Le présent qui déborde’, was filmed in Palestine, Lebanon, South Africa, Greece and the Amazon. The film is in dialogue with theatre and mixes fiction with real stories of refugee artists. This production by Théâtre National Wallonie-Bruxelles has been performed at the Avignon Festival and has toured in Europe, Asia and the United States. ********** Français ********** “C’est peut-être une pièce, mais ça débute comme un film. The Overflowing Present', gemaakt in 2020, werd gefilmd in Palestina, Libanon, Zuid-Afrika, Griekenland en het Amazonegebied.
