Artists’ Film International 2024: Solidarity

argos is proudly taking part in Artists’ Film International (AFI’24) - a touring film programme that is collectively curated and presented by fifteen international arts organisations and convened by Forma. AFI’24 introduces the work of talented moving image artists to worldwide audiences, and runs over 300 days, with exhibitions, screenings and public programmes hosted across four continents.

This year, the AFI partners have commissioned or selected recent artists’ films, which respond to the theme ‘solidarity’. Considering solidarity as a collective form of resistance, togetherness and interdependence, the fifteen films in AFI’24 address the ways in which solidarity is needed, sought and enacted on micro and macro scales.

Cette année, les partenaires d’AFI ont sélectionné ou commandé des films récents sur le thème de la solidarité. Envisagée comme une forme collective de résistance, de cohésion et d’interdépendance, elle est explorée à travers quinze films qui montrent comment elle est nécessaire, recherchée et mise en œuvre à différentes échelles. Le programme d’AFI’24 suscite et nourrit des imaginaires radicaux capables de transformer notre expérience collective à plus grande échelle.

argos neemt deel aan Artists’ Film International (AFI’24), een reizend filmprogramma dat collectief wordt gecureerd en gepresenteerd door vijftien internationale kunstorganisaties onder leiding van Forma. AFI’24 introduceert het werk van getalenteerde videokunstenaars aan een wereldwijd publiek.

Dit jaar hebben de partners recente kunstenaarsfilms geselecteerd of geproduceerd rond het thema ‘solidariteit’. Solidariteit wordt hier begrepen als een collectieve vorm van verzet, saamhorigheid en onderlinge afhankelijkheid. De vijftien films in het programma belichten hoe solidariteit wordt gezocht, nodig is en tot stand komt op micro- en macroniveau.
