Plum Road Tea Dream

Plum Road Tea Dream unfolds as a video game, performance, and exhibition. Drawing from their experience as a queer person of colour, Samuel Baidoo transforms their grief, joy, and memory into the story and mythology of the game. Through the avatar ‘S.’, visitors are invited to explore personal sanctuaries—spaces to slow down, reflect, and wander.With each encounter, you dive deeper into S.’s psyche, framing exploration as a gentle archaeology of healing and connection. Moving fluidly between virtual environments and physical installations, Plum Road Tea Dream reimagines the video game as a space for introspection rather than conquest. • Samuel Baidoo (they/them) received their Master's in the Arts with a focus on Illustration and Graphic Design from Sint-Lucas in 2015 and graduated as a dancer from the Dance department at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp in 2018.They take on different roles in the performing arts field. As a performer, they co-create and tour works for young audiences and adults in Belgium and abroad for makers and companies such as Koen de Preter, Maud Le Pladec, Lola Bogaert, Agostina D'Alessandro, Nat Gras, Tuur Marinus, Michiel Vandevelde, and Nikima Jagudajev. As a mentor and coach, they worked with Rino Sokol and Hernan Mancebo Martinez, the students of the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp, Annelies Van Hullebusch, Zoë Chungong, and Kaori Ishiguro. As part of the Hanafubuki collective, they merge their love for movement and strong visual aesthetics while enjoying collaborative work.As an individual maker, they created wijtwee//nosotrosdos for Nat Gras in collaboration with Hernan Mancebo Martinez and grot-nest-tempel-huis for tout petit (2024). They presented Huis voor Tranen during STORMOPKOMST in De Warande in 2022 and 2023.

Plum Road Tea Dream se déploie sous la forme d’un jeu vidéo, d’une performance et d’une exposition. S’inspirant de leur expérience en tant que personne queer racisée, Samuel Baidoo transforme leur chagrin, leur joie et leurs souvenirs en récit et mythologie du jeu. À travers l’avatar ‘S.’, les visiteurs sont invités à explorer des sanctuaires personnels—des espaces où ralentir, réfléchir et errer librement.À chaque rencontre, vous plongez plus profondément dans la psyché de S., l’exploration se dessinant comme une archéologie délicate de guérison et de connexion. Vertrekkend vanuit hun ervaring als queer persoon van kleur, transformeert Samuel Baidoo hun verdriet, vreugde en herinneringen in het verhaal en de mythologie van de game. Via de avatar ‘S.’ worden bezoekers uitgenodigd om persoonlijke toevluchtsoorden te verkennen—plekken om te vertragen, te reflecteren en te dwalen.Bij elke ontmoeting duik je dieper in de psyche van S. Deze verkenning wordt benaderd als een zachte archeologie van heling en verbinding. Plum Road Tea Dream beweegt vloeiend tussen virtuele omgevingen en fysieke installaties en herdenkt de videogame als een ruimte voor introspectie in plaats van verovering. • Samuel Baidoo (die/hun) behaalde in 2015 een Master in de Beeldende Kunsten met een focus op Illustratie en Grafisch Ontwerp aan Sint-Lucas, en studeerde in 2018 af als danser aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium Antwerpen, afdeling Dans. Binnen de podiumkunsten neemt Samuel verschillende rollen op zich. Als performer co-creëert en toert hen voor jong en volwassen publiek in België en internationaal, met makers en gezelschappen als Koen de Preter, Maud Le Pladec, Lola Bogaert, Agostina D’Alessandro, Nat Gras, Tuur Marinus, Michiel Vandevelde en Nikima Jagudajev. Als mentor en coach werkte hen met Rino Sokol en Hernan Mancebo Martinez, de studenten van het Koninklijk Conservatorium Antwerpen, Annelies Van Hullebusch, Zoë Chungong en Kaori Ishiguro.
