KOSMOKRATORS présente des chansons grecques de la tradition rebetiko en
Français, Néerlandais et Grec. Les paroles sont des traductions plus ou moins
littérales des originaux, qui rendent bien le caractère dur et marginal
authentique.
Le thème par excellence est le monde des ‘mangas’, les musiciens tenaces et
orgueilleux fumeurs de haschich d’Athènes et du Pirée.
Toujours des paroles bien enfumées, parfois adaptées aux temps modernes, parfois
rustres, parfois tendres, mais l’humour est de rigueur.

KOSMOKRATORS brengt Griekse rebetikaliederen met Nederlandse, Frans en Griekse
teksten. De vertalingen blijven dicht bij het origineel, en behouden het
authentieke harde en ondergrondse karakter. Het thema bij uitstek is de wereld
van de manges, de taaie muzikanten, stoere binken en hasjrokers uit Athene en
Piraeus. Steeds gaat het om doorgewinterde teksten, soms aangepast aan het hier
en nu, soms hard, soms teder, maar altijd voorzien van een flinke dosis humor.

K.G. Westman is one of Europe´s foremost sitar players in the field of North
Indian classical and semi classical music. As a senior disciple of Pandit
Rabindra Narayan Goswami he has performed in India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh,
Egypt, Europe, USA and Russia as well as for radio and T.V.
Due to training in both Indian and Western Music, he also makes an excellent
teacher and conductor of workshops regardless of the background of the
participants.
K.G. Westman is one of the founders and main organizers of the Stockholm Sangeet
Festival, Scandinavia’s most prestigious event for Indian Classical Music and
dance, which has run continuously for over 15 years.
The interest in Indian Music began when his father moved to Kerala in 1996.
Already an accomplished guitar player and recording artist, he tried his hand at
the Saraswati Veena, before making up his mind that the sitar was the instrument
for him. Then in 2004 he started to learn the basics of sitar technique, raag
and taal, first from Stian Grimstad, then also from Anil Singh of Dharamshala,
before he was accepted as a student of Goswamiji in 2006.
In 2017 the classical album Sonashish was released on the Kolkata label Bihaan
Music, in 2022 the Swedish-Indian-Egyptian collaboration KG Westman & Zaعfaran
and in 2023 an album featuring the self composed raag Anandpriya.
ARUP SENGUPTA doesn't need any introduction to Hindustani music lovers in
Europe as he regularly performs with renowned Hindustani Musicians
throughout Europe, India and the US. Arup is considered to be one of the
most sought after Tabla accompanists in Europe. He studied Tabla with
Tabla exponent Pandit Subhen Chatterjee from Kolkata (India) as well as
with Subhenji's own Guru, the renowned and legendary Tabla Master Pandit
Swapan Chaudhuri, who is considered to be one of the world top most Tabla
players.

On Saturday 20 July at 8pm, the Belgian National Day celebrations will kick off
with a free concert. This concert by the Belgian National Orchestra and the
Queen Elisabeth Competition enjoys the support of the FPS Chancellery of the
Prime Minister and the National Lottery. The King and Queen will attend this
concert.
South Korean soprano Sumi Hwang, winner of the Queen Elisabeth Singing
Competition 2014, will sing some highlights from Puccini's operas in this gala
concert, in addition to some songs by Richard Strauss. Chief conductor Antony
Hermus ventures into the prelude to the third act of Lohengrin and also performs
Ravel's famous La Valse.

Le samedi 20 juillet à 20h, un concert gratuit donne le coup d’envoi des
festivités de la Fête nationale. Ce concert de musique classique est organisé
par le Concours Reine Elisabeth en collaboration avec le Belgian National
Orchestra et Bozar, grâce au soutien du SPF Chancellerie du Premier Ministre et
de la Loterie Nationale.
Le concert aura lieu, en présence du Roi et de la Reine, dans la magnifique
salle Henry Le Bœuf du Palais des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelles (Bozar), considérée
comme l’une des meilleures salles au monde pour ses qualités acoustiques.
Programme
Cette année, la soliste sera la soprano Sumi Hwang, Première Lauréate du
Concours Reine Elisabeth 2014. Elle sera accompagnée par le Belgian National
Orchestra, sous la direction de Antony Hermus.
Le concert débutera par un prélude orchestral extrait de Lohengrin de Richard
Wagner. Sumi Hwang interprétera trois Lieder de Richard Strauss, deux airs
extraits de Gianni Schicchi et La Bohème de Giacomo Puccini et un autre de Faust
de Charles Gounod. L’orchestre jouera également un intermède extrait de Le Villi
de Puccini et clôturera ce concert avec La Valse de Maurice Ravel.

Op zaterdag 20 juli om 20 uur worden de feestelijkheden rond de Nationale
Feestdag ingezet met een gratis concert. Dit klassieke muziekconcert wordt
georganiseerd door de Koningin Elisabethwedstrijd, samen met het Belgian
National Orchestra en Bozar, dankzij de steun van de FOD Kanselarij van de
Eerste Minister en de Nationale Loterij.
Plaats van het gebeuren is de prachtige Henry Le Boeufzaal van het Paleis voor
Schone Kunsten van Brussel (Bozar) die akoestisch tot de beste concertzalen ter
wereld behoort. De Koning en de Koningin zullen het concert bijwonen.
Programma
Dit jaar is de soliste sopraan Sumi Hwang, Eerste Laureate van de Koningin
Elisabethwedstrijd 2014. Zij zal begeleid worden door het Belgian National
Orchestra, onder leiding van Antony Hermus.
Het concert begint met een orkestrale prelude uit Lohengrin van Richard Wagner.
Sopraan Sumi Hwang zal drie Lieder van Richard Strauss uitvoeren, twee aria's
uit Gianni Schicchi en La Bohème van Giacomo Puccini en nog een aria uit Faust
van Charles Gounod. Het orkest speelt tevens een intermezzo uit Le Villi van

"Tzigan" (Gypsy Tango Trio) formerly Zingaros, is an Argentinian trio with
violin, accordion, guitar and vocals, who blends eastern gypsy music with tango
and jazz.
Their concerts are distinguished by a great musicality and virtuosity, making an
exciting performance.
They were touring in Europe from 2009 to 2023, performing in different venues
among others:
Salzburger Festspiele (Austria), Tolwood Festival (Germany), Fusion Festival
(Germany), Romane Dyvesa (Poland), Schlossnacht Dresde (Germany), Donauinselfest
(Austria), Breminale Festival (Germany), Festival Internacional de tango
(Argentina), Vamos Festival (UK), Gyspy Festival Slovakia (Slovakia), Vincoli
Sonori Festival (Italy), Birmingham Jazz Festival (UK) etc etc.
In January 2010 their CD "Cirkari" was released in 65 countries by ARC music
label in the UK (www.arcmusic.co.uk).
Also some songs were included in compilations of ARC’s 35th anniversary.
In 2013 a new CD "Gitango" was released in UK by the same label.
The band was nominated for Best Group and Newcomer for the Songlines Music
Awards 2014.
