Avec ses magnifiques sgraffites extérieurs et intérieurs, la maison Cauchie est l’un des fleurons de l’Art Nouveau à Bruxelles. C’est dans cet écrin que raisonneront les improvisations et mélodies persanes de Milâd Mohammadi. Joueur de tar primé et multi-instrumentiste, Milâd Mohammadi est né en Iran en 1988. Il a collaboré et enregistré avec les plus grands musiciens iraniens tels que Hoshyar Khayyam (Music for Tar and Piano) ou encore des chanteurs comme Alireza Ghorbani (« Blaze ») et Homayoun Shajarian (« Rag Khab »). Par sa musique persane classique et traditionnelle, Milâd Mohammadi cherche constamment à franchir les frontières stylistiques et techniques. Il s’inspire principalement de musiques d’autres cultures, telles que les musiques indienne et arabe, pour enrichir son univers musical. Au cœur de l’atelier de la Maison Cauchie, ses improvisations persanes sur tar (luth à grand manche) seront inspirées par les œuvres du duo d’artistes Paul Cauchie et Caroline Voet. Ce concert sera combiné avec une visite guidée de la Maison Cauchie d’une durée de 45 minutes. Ce concert aura lieu une deuxième fois à 13h30. En partenariat avec la Maison Cauchie.

Met zijn prachtige sgraffito-decoraties zowel buiten als binnen, is het Cauchie huis één van de parels van de Art Nouveau in Brussel. Het is dan ook een ideale locatie voor de Perzische improvisaties en versieringen van Milad Mohammadi. Mohammadi is een bekroond speler van de tar, de Iraanse langhalsluit. Hij werkte samen en nam op met de grootste Iraanse muzikanten zoals Hoshyar Khayyam, het bekroonde album “Music for Tar and Piano”, met zangers Alireza Ghorbani (“Blaze”) en Homayoun Shajarian (“Rag Khab”). Vanuit zijn de klassieke en traditionele Perzische muziek, probeert Milad Mohammadi voortdurend stilistische en technische grenzen te overschrijden. Hij laat zich vooral inspireren door muziek uit andere culturen, zoals Indiase en Arabische muziek, om zijn muzikale expressie te verrijken. Tijdens zijn Perzische improvisaties op tar laat hij zich inspireren door het Cauchiehuis, het eigen woonhuis-atelier van het kunstenaarsduo Paul Cauchie en Caroline Voet. Het concert wordt gecombineerd met een rondleiding in het huis van 45 minuten. Dit concert vindt een 2e maal plaats om 13u30. In samenwerking met het Cauchie Huis.

With its magnificent exterior and interior sgraffito, the Cauchie house is one of Brussels' jewels of Art Nouveau. It is in this setting that the Persian improvisations and melodies of Milâd Mohammadi will echo. Award-winning tar player and multi-instrumentalist, Milâd Mohammadi was born in Iran in 1988. He has collaborated and recorded with the greatest Iranian musicians such as Hoshyar Khayyam (Music for Tar and Piano) or singers like Alireza Ghorbani (“Blaze”) and Homayoun Shajarian (“Rag Khab”). Throughout his classical and traditional Persian music, Milâd Mohammadi constantly seeks to cross stylistic and technical boundaries. He is mainly inspired by music from other cultures to enrich his musical universe, such as Indian and Arabic music. At the heart of the Maison Cauchie workshop, his Persian improvisations on tar (long-necked lute) were inspired by the works of the duo: Paul Cauchie and Caroline Voet. This concert will be combined with a 45-minute guided tour of the Maison Cauchie. This concert will take place a second time at 1:30 p.m. Milad Mohammadi : tar In partnership with Maison Cauchie.

Oscillation ::: Materia Forma New Oscillation (https://www.oscillation-festival.be/) edition, new format ::: after online, nomadic and sedentary editions, we're in for six days of sound celebrations. The marathon edition? Those who have been following us for some time know that this range is not a try-out for the Q-O2 crew. Those concerned about physical effects, sleep deprivation, and sonic saturation? Don't worry, the evenings will be intense, but, concise. This year's edition is hosted by VK Vaartkapoen in Molenbeek, complemented with outings to B.A. in Anderlecht and the Saint-Jean-Baptiste de Molenbeek-Saint-Jean Church. The six days feature concerts, (in-situ) performances, a conference, round table conversations, walks, and a series of workshops. T This year, we reflect on form, format and performance. The self-evidence of an active performance linked to music has been altered with the ubiquity of electronic instruments and forms of amplification, which has also resulted in a larger variety of concert formats. Yet, absence of activity on stage does not equate to an absence of performance: objects might take that role, everyday events can be framed to perform themselves, sounds may exist as forms in themselves. Les Jazz au Marché sont de retour et pour ce premier rendez-vous de la saison, nous vous emmenons en Afrique de l'Ouest, avec l'excellent Zouratié Koné Ensemble, pour partager les rythmes et les chants du Burkina Faso, du Sénégal, de Côte d’Ivoire, du Niger, du Mali et de Guinée. Zouratié Koné, chanteur, musicien et fabriquant d’instruments de musique, est née à Bobo Dioulasso, Burkina Faso et a vécu au Mali et en Côte d’Ivoire. Maître percussionniste issu d’une famille de Griots et éduqué dans une culture orale, ce musicien hors pair s’est approprié de multiples instruments de la tradition ouest-africaine :djembé, dundun, talking drum, longa, kora, ngoni, balafon. Ouverture de la terrasse dès 11:00 pour l'apéro et petite restauration, début du concert vers 13:00. TCHA LIMBERGER ( VIOLIN), RENÉ BIKAR ( BRÁCS), VILMOS CSIKOS ( DOUBLE BASS) Tcha’s trio of Budapest musicians causes a sensation, with bursts of soaring musical tragedy and czardas madness delivered with an astounding purity of sound and hardly imaginable depth of musical dialogue. In true Budapest gypsy style they switch between soaring intensity and smouldering pathos delivering a passion and technical virtuosity that astounds. MAGYAR NÓTA is music actually composed by the Hungarian nobility, to liven up their noble feasts and parties. They were looking in the 19th century for Hungarian music, that had to be less primitive than the traditional Hungarian music, which was only played by the illiterate peasants. So they invented a new style, based on elements of Hungarian folk music, both textual and melodic-harmonic, all played with a classical Western European sound. They hired gypsy musicians to come and live with them at the castles, where they should learn to play violin, double bass, clarinet and cimbalom in a classical way. Then they should make the new repertoire into one of the most highly regarded forms of popular music. ‘I myself started to learn that style because the Sinti, Gypsies from western Europe, including my own family, very much look up to, and love, this Hungarian music. Manouche and Sinti used to copy that style, but without the necessary know-how and especially without the Hungarian language, which one needs very much to be able to interpret that style well. This is why I started to learn Hungarian at the age of 20 and spent a year and a half in Budapest to master this music. I then founded the Tcha Limberger's Budapest Orchestra. For this concert we speak of the Budapest Ensemble, since it consists of not more than three musicians. 19h - Maison AUTRIQUE : Stéphane Mercier (saxophone, flûte traversière) & Maxime Blesin (guitare) Ce duo n’en est pas à son premier essai : Maxime et Stéphane se côtoient depuis le début des années 90. Ils ont écumé les clubs de jazz et beaucoup voyagé : Bruxelles, Paris, Boston et New-York sont les villes qu’ils ont découvert ensemble. Le plaisir de jouer en duo est de ce fait toujours palpable. Le son très chaud et acoustique du sax alto et des cordes permettent une approche veloutée de mélodies que l’on trouve dans les joyaux du jazz : Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter,…mais aussi quelques compositions de leur cru. 20h30 - JAZZ STATION Jazz Station Big Band : Incontournable de la scène nationale et internationale, le Jazz Station Big Band est devenu au fil des ans une partie intégrante du patrimoine bruxellois. Acclamé par la presse et reconnu par ses pairs, le big band a sorti plusieurs albums sur les labels Igloo, Hypnote Records, et bientôt sur Step By Records. Soutenir une résidence mensuelle dans un club (la Jazz Station) pendant près de vingt ans ne s’était encore jamais vu en Belgique. Mais il n’y a pas que cela : de nombreux festivals et salles extérieures font appel au big band, qui en profite pour collaborer avec des invités exceptionnels. ********** Français ********** Née d'une famille cosmopolite, Joe Bel a grandi en voyageant entre les Alpes françaises, la mer Méditerranée et l'Amérique du Nord. Elle développa un amour pour la musique dès son plus jeune âge après avoir été bercée par les vinyles de Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Otis Redding, ainsi que les chants traditionnels judéo-espagnols chers à la famille. Instinctive et autodidacte, Joe fait ses tous premiers pas sur scène seule à la guitare en 2012, juste après la naissance de son premier enfant, à l’âge de 23 ans. Quelques mois plus tard, Asaf Avidan découvre sa soul folk envoûtante et lui offre toutes les premières parties de sa tournée européenne. Son EP remarqué, « Hit the Roads », lui a permis de se produire à travers l'Europe et jusqu'au Japon. En 2020, attendant son deuxième enfant, elle se lance dans l’écriture de son deuxième opus, « Family Tree » : une exploration à la recherche de ses origines multiples, alliant folk, mélodies entêtantes et couleurs méditerranéennes. À travers un son toujours organique, en anglais et en français, mais également en ladino, ancien espagnol que parlait encore son grand-père, elle choisit de se dévoiler un peu plus, dans un album qui invite au voyage de la transmission entre les générations. ********** Nederlands ********** Joe Bel werd geboren in een kosmopolitische familie, en groeide op terwijl ze reisde tussen de Franse Alpen, de Middellandse Zee en Noord-Amerika. Al op jonge leeftijd ontwikkelde ze een liefde voor muziek. Ze werd geraakt door de platen van Paul McCartney, George Harrison en Otis Redding, maar evenzeer door de traditionele Joods-Spaanse liederen die haar familie dierbaar zijn. In 2012, op 23-jarige leeftijd, zette ze haar eerste stappen op het podium, solo en met enkel haar gitaar als begeleiding. Enkele maanden later ontdekte Asaf Avidan haar beklijvende folk soul, en bood haar prompt alle support slots aan op zijn Europese tour. Haar veelgeprezen EP ‘Hit the Roads’ bracht haar ondertussen door heel Europa en zelfs Japan, en in 2020 begon ze te schrijven aan ‘Family Tree’, een plaat waarop ze haar meervoudige afkomst exploreert. Het album is een geweldige combinatie van folk, onstuimige melodieën en mediterrane kleuren, waarop ze zingt in het Engels en het Frans, maar ook in het Ladino, het oude Spaans dat nog steeds door haar grootvader wordt gesproken. ‘Family Tree’ is intergenerationeel, en heeft voor iedereen wel wat te bieden.

Nicolas Delaigue is a sitar and surbahar player, specialist of north indian classical music. After years of immersion, practice and dedication to this art, he was able to create a bridge between India and the West, and become a reference in the interpretation and teaching of this music in Europe. Nicolas has learned sitar and hindustani classical music with Patrick Moutal, Indrajit Banerjee and have received additionnal training with Sugato and Ustad Shahid Parvez. Today, as a international concert performer, Nicolas have presented his music in many prestigious venues in Europe and around the world. Nicolas teaches sitar, Indian music and modal improvisation in numerous public, private and associative structures throughout France and Europe. In 2022, he was appointed professor of Indian Music and modal improvisation at the National Conservatory of Paris (CNSMDP). An All India Radio Grade A Artist, Sandip Banerjee is playing tabla since 1973. He is well known for his graceful accompaniment and powerful adept solo performance. He is an enlisted artist in ICCR( Indian Council for Cultural Relation) in professional category and SPIC MACAY. He has several CDs with different artists in India and abroad. His book on learning Tabla titled ‘Le Tabla’ has been published from ID Music, France. This book is also available in English now. A rare combination of talent, dedication and good sensibilities have brought Sandip to the top of his art. For several years, he has also been steadily building a solo career, always collaborating with young talent. For this Carte Blanche, he presents two of his latest projects, The Rhythm Hunters and The Gallands. In the latter project, he pulls out all the stops with his son and keyboard player Elvin Galland.  Prepare for an evening of wonderfully adventurous music with rhythmic twists and grooves! In the first part, attendees will enjoy the soulful melodies of German Lieder by F. Mendelssohn and Brahms, accompanied by a piano interlude with music by R. Schumann. This first part evokes the freshness of the season, with a recurring theme of flowers and the awakening of spring. In the second part, the audience will experience the captivating opera duets of Tchaikovsky, Delibes, and Offenbach. Lauréat du premier prix (et du Prix du Public) au Concours International de Guitare du Montreux Jazz Festival 2014, Alex Goodman a été salué comme « l’un des talents les plus prometteurs de [sa] génération de jazz » (JazzTimes), ainsi que comme « une voix musicale incontestable » (Guitar International). Ce guitariste a sorti sept albums en tant que leader ou co-leader. Son premier opus ‘Bridges,’ sorti en 2011, a été nominé pour un JUNO comme meilleur disque de jazz contemporain de l’année. Le guitariste figure sur des enregistrements aux côtés d’artistes renommés tels que John Patitucci, Dave Douglas, Ambrose Akinmusire, Dick Oatts, Mike Rodriguez et Rich Perry.
