Du 12 janvier au 4 mars 2023, la Galerie La Forest Divonne présente la première exposition personnelle à Bruxelles de Christian Renonciat.Depuis les années 1980, Christian Renonciat a parcouru l'Europe, les États-Unis et l'Asie pour exposer ses extraordinaires sculptures en bois. Son travail virtuose et sensible va du trompe-l'œil aux limites de l'abstraction.A Bruxelles, il présentera un important ensemble de bas-reliefs récents en chaux, ayous ou cèdre. Des couvertures, des feuilles de papier froissé, des cartons ou des bâches, que l'on aimerait toucher tant elles semblent réelles, veloutées et souples. Si le spectateur est d'abord époustouflé par la prouesse technique et la véracité des formes, l'impression spectaculaire laisse rapidement place à la délicate émotion du souvenir, tant l'art de Renonciat nous plonge dans la délicieuse mémoire des sensations. Le toucher de tous ces matériaux rappelle immédiatement nos doigts et notre imagination, portés par la chaleur du bois.Parallèlement à cette exposition, la galerie présentera une sélection de sculptures de Christian Renonciat sur son stand à BRAFA du 29 janvier au 5 février 2023.

Van 12 januari tot 4 maart 2023 presenteert Galerie La Forest Divonne de eerste solotentoonstelling van Christian Renonciat in Brussel.Sinds de jaren tachtig reist Christian Renonciat door Europa, de Verenigde Staten en Azië om zijn buitengewone houten sculpturen tentoon te stellen. Zijn virtuoze en gevoelige werk gaat van trompe l'oeil tot de grenzen van de abstractie.In Brussel presenteert hij een belangrijke groep recente bas-reliëfs in kalk, ayous of ceder. Dekens, vellen verfrommeld papier, kartonnen dozen of dekzeilen, die men zo graag zou willen aanraken dat ze echt lijken, fluweelachtig en soepel. Wordt de toeschouwer eerst weggeblazen door de technische bekwaamheid en de waarachtigheid van de vormen, dan maakt de spectaculaire indruk snel plaats voor de delicate emotie van de herinnering, zodat de kunst van Renonciat ons onderdompelt in de heerlijke herinnering van sensaties. De aanraking van al deze materialen roept onmiddellijk onze vingers en onze verbeelding op, gedragen door de warmte van het hout.Parallel met deze tentoonstelling presenteert de galerie van 29 januari tot 5 februari 2023 een selectie van de sculpturen van Christian Renonciat op haar stand op BRAFA.

From 12 January to 4 March 2023, Galerie La Forest Divonne presents the first solo exhibition in Brussels of Christian Renonciat.Since the 1980s, Christian Renonciat has travelled throughout Europe, the United States and Asia exhibiting his extraordinary wooden sculptures. His virtuoso and sensitive work ranges from trompe l’oeil to the limits of abstraction.In Brussels he will present an important group of recent bas-reliefs in lime, ayous or cedar. Blankets, sheets of crumpled paper, cardboard boxes or tarpaulins, which one would like to touch so much they seem real, velvety and supple. If the spectator is first blown away by the technical prowess and the veracity of the forms, the spectacular impression quickly gives way to the delicate emotion of memory, so much so that Renonciat’s art plunges us into the delicious memory of sensations. The touch of all these materials immediately recalls our fingers and our imagination, carried by the warmth of the wood.In parallel to this exhibition, the gallery will present a selection of Christian Renonciat’s sculptures on its stand at BRAFA from 29 January to 5 February 2023.
