Branko

Branko is known as co-founder of the mythical kuduru band Buraka Som Sistema, but he is also a visionary musician, producer, DJ, promoter and the brains behind the Portuguese Enchufada label. With this label he wants to enrich the electronic music scene by bringing sounds from the diaspora and rhythms of the South to the forefront, inspired by the distinct blend of cultures, sights and sounds that make their hometown of Lisbon so unique. With this label, Branko (aka João Barbosa), succeeds in taking the sound of the hybrid Portuguese underground electronica and club music - mutations of kuduro, kizomba, Zouk, baile funk and more to the next level for a wide audience.His recently released fourth solo album 'Soma' is the remarkable result of a three-day jam session, in which Branko challenged a challenging variety of Lisbon based musicians to improvise within a rhythmic framework. Hours of non-stop recording led to a collection of grooves that served as a beat print for the album, that he will present on the stage of ABClub. Standing still will not be an option.

Avec ce label il souhaite enrichir la scène musicale électronique avec les sonorités de la diaspora et les rythmes du Sud., en s’inspirant de sa ville natale, Lisbonne, avec son mélange unique de cultures et de sons. Branko (alias João Barbosa) a bien réussi à faire passer le son hybride de l'électro underground portugais - mutations de kuduro, kizomba, zouk, baile funk et plus encore - à un niveau supérieur en l’ouvrant à un grand public.Son quatrième album solo ‘Soma’, récemment sorti, est le résultat remarquable d'une jam session de trois jours, au cours de laquelle Branko a mis au défi une variété de musiciens basé à Lisbonne d'improviser dans un certain cadre rythmique. Des heures d'enregistrement non-stop ont été transformé en une collection de grooves qui ont à leur tour servi de base rythmique à l'album et seront bientôt présentés sur la scène de l’ABClub. Inspiratie haalde hij uit thuisstad Lissabon met zijn aparte mix van culturen en geluiden. Het mag gezegd worden dat Branko (ook bekend als João Barbosa) erin slaagt het geluid van de hybride Portugese underground electronica en clubmuziek - mutaties van kuduro, kizomba, zouk, baile funk en meer - naar een hoger niveau te tillen voor een breed publiek.Zijn pas verschenen vierde soloalbum ‘Soma’ is het merkwaardige resultaat van een driedaagse jamsessie, waarin Branko een variatie interessante muzikanten uit Lissabon uitdaagde om te improviseren binnen een ritmisch jkader.
