De Belgisch-Franse schrijver Henri Michaux bleef ondanks zijn cultstatus graag onder de radar. Rokus Hofstede vertaalde zopas de bundel prozapoëzie Hoekpijlers. Met vragen als ‘wat te doen?’ en ‘hoe te leven?’ reikt Michaux scherp en snedig zijn levensregels aan. De eigen zwakheden omhelzen, gemeenplaatsen schuwen, streven naar onthechting en zelfkennis: een heus vademecum voor troebele tijden, en tegengif voor een door stemmingmakerij beheerste wereld.
