Join us for these new adventures!

On 9 and 10 December 2022, Gerben Vaillant and TREVOGA (Neda Ruzheva, Antonina Pushkareva and Erikas Zilaitis) will share their research in De Vlugt, as a conclusion to their four-week New Adventures residency. New Adventures is a programme of ICK Artist Space for new dance makers who want to deepen their creative practice. In a period of four weeks, these makers get the chance to work on their artistic development in freedom and safety. To facilitate their research, ICK provides guidance from the Artist Space and Academy departments. For the third New Adventures presentations of 2022 Gerben Vaillant and TREVOGA return to the body in their researches on programmed ways of moving and the distance between humanity and reality. Both works are presented on the same evening in a double bill format, after which Gerben and TREVOGA enter into dialogue with the audience to discuss their experiences and to reflect on their artistic research.

Gerben Vaillant

Gerben Vaillant (1994, NL) is an interdisciplinary maker, graduated from theatre and education studies at ArtEZ in 2017 and from the mime department of Amsterdam University of the Arts in 2021. Gerben has a strong interest in mime, dance and dance dramaturgy and makes performances about the distance between human and reality, explored in a mix of disciplines such as text, dance, image and philosophy. Gerben wants to contribute to a vision of the world in which there is room for those who break the established norms: a way to feel at home in queerness.

TREVOGATrevoga is a choreographic collective, consisting of Neda Ruzheva (1999, BG), Antonina Pushkareva (2000, RU) and Erikas Zilaitis (1998, LT), three dance makers based in Amsterdam. ‘Trevoga’ translates to ‘anxiety’ and this collective is dedicated to countering their own escapism and using their anxiety as a creative fuel. Their work is eerie, intoxicated, flashy, sad and cool. Neda and Antonina have graduated from the Modern Dance Theatre Department and the School for New Dance Development of the Amsterdam Academy of Theatre and Dance, and Erikas is involved in the study Expanded Contemporary Dance. In addition, they have been developing their rave performance “минус” (minus).

Ietje en Fietje zijn twee oude vrouwtjes die samenwonen, waarschijnlijk al hun hele leven. Ze hebben niet veel nodig, want ze hebben elkaar en hun fantasie. Hierdoor belande ze constant in de meest grappige en onsamenhangende situaties waarvan ze zelf niet weten of het voortkomt uit dementie of uit plezier, maar waardoor ze zich nooit vervelen en eeuwig jong blijven. Totdat de buitenwereld plots binnenvalt in de vorm van een brief: “Ietje, Fietje trek jullie baljurk aan, dan kunnen jullie samen naar het bal toegaan.” Dit veroorzaakt onrust en heisa in het huis van de vrouwtjes. Het Kleine Theater bestaat uit Vimala en Anke, allebei actrice. Na jaren te hebben gewerkt bij diverse theatergezelschappen, en in verschillende televisieproducties en films te hebben gespeeld, zijn ze in 2011 een eigen jeugdtheatergezelschap begonnen. Samen maken ze nu al ruim 10 jaar theater voor jong en oud. Er staan 15 voorstellingen op het repertoire, allemaal met veel humor, mooie muziek en gekke personages. De voorstellingen zijn gebaseerd op oude verhalen, liedjes of bekende sprookjes, waar een heel eigen draai aan is gegeven, zodat het niet eng is voor de kleinste bezoeker, maar ook zeker niet saai voor de oudste. ’t ZONNEHUIS OP ZIJN KOP is een jeugdtheaterreeks van Stichting Stadsherstel Cultureel om jeugdtheatermakers een podium te geven en ‘t Zonnehuis toegankelijker te maken voor de buurt. Kom op de derde zondag van de maand (van oktober t/m december 2023 en maart t/m mei 2024) naar ’t Zonnehuis in Amsterdam-Noord voor de leukste familievoorstellingen! Fantasierijk, vrolijk en muzikaal theater voor peuters en kleuters en natuurlijk hun (groot)ouders en begeleiders. We verwelkomen elke keer een ander gezelschap!

'PERFORMANTE' Tempi duri per i pigri e i poco mondani: non è più tollerata alcuna forma di ozio o di privacy, e oggi anche l’elettrauto sotto casa deve fare show business. Quindi manteniamo la calma e confrontiamoci con i temi che tediano le nostre pause pranzo: crisi climatica, iper-esposizione mediatica, ex compagni delle elementari riesumati come venditori di NFT, valutare se intraprendere la professione di neurologo o quella di streamer, la nostalgia di epoche vissute l’altro ieri, la suscettibilità estrema e il lavoro non retribuito dell’offeso telematico, la casa in campagna come unica possibilità residenziale, la motivazione dei guru disperati, la necessità di sentirsi un eroe e poi la speranza che, nonostante tutto, l’intelligenza artificiale possa risolvere tutti i nostri problemi, compreso quello della sua esistenza. Le certezze sono sempre meno ma, in un’epoca in cui siamo tutti chiamati a essere performanti, l’unico lusso al quale ambire è il tempo perso.

On June 9, Podium Mozaïek will be the stage for flamenco dance and singing talent from the Netherlands. An evening-filling program, full of passionate flamenco choreographies by up-and-coming and proven flamenco talents from 7 to 70 years old. Accompanied by the best flamenco musicians in the country, including Arturo Ramon. A gala for young and old full of dance, song and music. Expect surprises! Starts at 6 p.m Crema de crema flamenco musicians The live music is provided by the well-known flamenco musicians Vicente Jose Santiago (guitar), Arturo Ramon (guitar), Erminia Fernandez Cordoba (singer), Yota Baron (singer), Violina Violinist and Vangelis Chatzigiannis (singer). The Amsterdam flamenco choir Tiri Tiri accompanies a number of choreographies under the direction of Yota Baron. The choir emerged from the singing school that Baron started in 2019. They regularly perform at various stages and festivals, including the Spanish Film Festival. More than 70 participants from beginner to professional This year, more than 70 students from flamenco schools in the cities of Amsterdam, The Hague, Eindhoven, Leiden, Rotterdam and Utrecht are participating. The participants vary in age (from 7-70 years) and level from beginners to advanced; the majority have progressed. Several professional dancers/teachers are also part of the performances. The gala consists of original choreographies that they have been working on all year. Prior to the live show, the students rehearse with the musicians during the day; a unique opportunity for the enthusiastic upcoming flamenco talent, who likes to share their passion with the audience. Beginning in spring 2024 with a series of concerts and workshops in Europe and Israel, the tour will continue through the US, Canada, and Latin America in the fall. Snatam is celebrated for her incandescent luminous voice and profound knowledge of mantra. Accompanied by gifted, versatile musicians, her concerts are joyous, transformational experiences providing participants an experience of the healing energy of the heart that can be activated by chanting. In Een Kleine Anatomie brengen vier spelers het lichaam in kaart en leren ze het beter kennen. Met dans en live muziek maken ze een reis langs alle ledematen, sensaties en gevoelens die bij het lichaam horen. In het begin gaat dat nog braaf, maar al snel kruipt de speelse ontdekkingsdrang erin. De voeten vliegen van de vloer, de duimen dansen alle kanten op en de spelers klimmen op elkaars schouders. Ook de stem doet mee: er wordt gezongen, gegromd, geniesd en af en toe wat gepraat. Samen met het publiek ontdekken de spelers dat onze lichamen allemaal verschillend zijn. Soms passen ze perfect in elkaar, soms zit er net een grote teen in de weg.  Mijn armen zijn langer dan de jouwe, dus ik kan jou van verder weg aanraken. Jij hebt hele kleine vingers om snel mijn veters los te friemelen. Jouw mond is het grootst, daar past een hele boterham in. Jouw hoofd is zo klein, dat het helemaal in mijn oksel kan verdwijnen. En hoe zit dat eigenlijk van binnen? Is mijn honger groter dan de jouwe? Wie moet het nodigst plassen? En als vrolijkheid een kleur zou hebben, is die dan bij iedereen anders?
