She’s ‘The Voice’ in the feminine. She received 13 Grammy Awards during her career, in addition to numerous other awards and accolades. In 2021, it has been 25 years since this great lady left us. Flûtiste vertigineuse, vocaliste, et compositrice prolifique, Naïssam Jalal brille par sa capacité à tisser des liens entre les différentes cultures musicales et les champs esthétiques. Grâce aux rencontres, aux imaginaires et aux mémoires, elle présente à chaque création une œuvre unique. Elle déconstruit les frontières et invente un langage singulier qui invite vers des horizons ouverts et multiples. Naïssam Jalal a reçu des récompenses prestigieuses, notamment le Grand Prix de l’Académie Charles Cros 2017, les Victoires du Jazz 2019 (+ 3 nominations), le Prix des Musiques d’ICI 2020 et le Premier Prix Jazz de l’International Songwriting Competition 2022. A la tête de 4 formations, Naïssam Jalal parcourt les scènes internationales, et y partage avec le public des expériences intimes et émouvantes. Au fil de ses 9 albums, elle s’est imposée comme l’une des figures majeures de la scène jazz contemporaine, dévoilant un univers musical personnel et vibrant qui redonne tout son sens au mot liberté.

Old Style New Orleans Music  The Mardi Gras Jazzband is since 1983 an established name in jazzclubs and festivals in Belgium and perhaps even more in the Netherlands.“Old Style” has been the motto all the time, in which long forgotten songs and surprising themes prevail.This shows that “New Orleans jazz” is so much more than the playing style of black musicians who visited our regions in the sixties and seventies.Their favourite repertoire dates from the “Roaring Twenties”.The Mardi Gras Jazzband has been around for over 39 years and still hosts three founding members: of course “Papa” Paul Callebaut (leader, vocals and trombone), Wim “Dix” Decommer (piano) and Paul “Speedy” De Bock (bass).
