Escape: dominiq V.D. wall. & Benny Luyckx
Description
From time immemorial, man has sought all kinds of means to escape the delusion of the day. In this exhibition, dominiq V.D. wall. and Benny Luyckx make us look differently, each from their own world, at what painting and the representation of reality can offer us today.
In "Appearing-Vanishing" by dominiq V.D. wall., the question arises as to whether these are depicted temporary constellations or a proposed reality. Walked or inhabited by an often solitary linear body - a self-tourist - a transhuman being. That being visits, contemplates and oversees this settlement. It keeps its distance and seems always to be moving or passing through.
In E.D.E.N., Benny Luyckx shows works with imaginary landscapes depicting a visualised paradise, an afterlife, a Garden of Eden. They refer to the escapism of both the dream setting of paradise and computer games. The human forms go back to classical statues or archaeological finds such as those at Pompeii. It deals with evolution, stigma and racism, among other things.
