Zine Club x Joana Estrela: Laura Simonati

Description

Info in het Nederlands / Infos en français

Let your creativity roam free and create zines together. Bring your own drawing materials. Bring your friends.

Zine Club has been going strong for over five years. To mix things up, every season will be hosted by an artist or creative collective. This season's host is Joana Estrela. Every session, she asks a different zine maker to provide inspiration, talk about their work and draw along. This week, that's Laura Simonati.

About Laura Simonati

Laura Simonati is an Italian illustrator and author based in Brussels. She loves to experiment and create illustrations for different purposes. She is deeply fascinated by outsider art, vernacular graphic design and everything dealing with folklore.

About Joana Estrela

Joana Estrela is an illustrator and author from Portugal, living in Brussels. What motivates her to start a book is the amusement that it brings. Recently, she won both the Zilveren Griffel and Zilveren Penseel with her graphic novel 'Pardalita' (2023, Querido).

What are zines?

Zines (as in 'magazine' or 'fanzine') are homemade booklets of texts, collages and/or illustrations. They're a playground for young literary and graphic talent and are usually self-published, using an old-fashioned Xerox machine.
