The What's the 411 series, curated by Esmeralda Tan, continues! Previously, we had the pleasure of collaborating with Vogue Magazine and photographer Sakir Khader. For the third edition, we’re kicking things off with the talented multidisciplinary hair artist Asia Clarke and creative director/photographer Christian Saint.

WHAT’S THE 411 curated by Esmeralda Tan presents: STRANDS & STRUCTURES a groundbreaking photo-documentary exhibition by Multidisciplinary Hair Artist Asia Clarke and Creative Director/Photographer Christian Saint. STRANDS & STRUCTURES delves into the intersection of our hair and bodies within Accra’s Anthropocene.


About the artists

Asia Clarke | Creative Director & Concept Hair Artist

Asia Clarke is a Canadian born Afro-Caribbean multidisciplinary creative with a passion for transforming hair, jewelry, beauty, and styling. She is also a researcher, forecaster, strategist, freelance writer and community builder. She is passionate about unique, futuristic and innovative African diaspora representations in media and art. Her work has been featured in many publications including Vogue NL, GQ Middle East, Citizen Mag, Wall Street Journal and Dazed Magazine.

Christian Saint | Creative Director & Multidisciplinary Artist

Christian Saint is a Ghanaian Multidisciplinary Artist, Film Director & Creative Producer who is deeply inspired by African imagery and the robust library of storytelling from the continent. His belief is that as Africans, we are the custodians of our own history. This belief is boldly stated on each project he works on. He worked on projects with Beats by Dre, Atlantic Records UK, Daily Paper, Rema, Roc Nation, Trapstar, EMPIRE, DAZED, Adidas, ON, Skepta, Trapstar London, Sarkodie, etc. In addition, he has had the opportunity of collaborating with forces in media that power and stimulate the creative mind, such as GQ, Complex, Hypebeast Arabia, The FADER and many others.

Christian Saint | Creative Director & Multidisciplinary Artist

Christian Saint is een Ghanese multidisciplinaire kunstenaar, filmregisseur en creative producer die diep geïnspireerd is door Afrikaanse beelden en de rijke traditie van verhalen vertellen van het continent. Zijn overtuiging is dat Afrikanen de hoeders zijn van hun eigen geschiedenis, en dit statement weerspiegelt hij in elk project waaraan hij werkt. Hij heeft samengewerkt met merken zoals Beats by Dre, Atlantic Records UK, Daily Paper, Rema, Roc Nation, Trapstar, EMPIRE, DAZED, Adidas, ON, Skepta, Trapstar London en Sarkodie.
