Ce bâtiment a été érigé en 1912 par l'architecte Art nouveau Jean-Baptiste Dewin
pour abriter l'Institut ophtalmologique du docteur Henri Coppez, figure de proue
de l'ophtalmologie en Belgique. Porteuse d'influences du Japon et de la
Sécession viennoise, cette oeuvre d'art total est admirable par sa décoration
sobre, composée de mosaïques et de vitraux, par son vocabulaire esthétique
d'inspiration florale et animalière. La lumière se reflète aussi bien dans les
marbres que dans les vitraux remarquables de cet ancien institut. Acquis par
Delen Private Bank en 2017, il a été restauré en 2021 en lui rendant son lustre
et sa lumière originale. Contrairement à l'année passé, le bâtiment accuille
désormais les clients et le personnel de cette banque dans des bureaux meublés
avec raffinement.

Dit gebouw werd in 1912 opgetrokken door art-nouveau-architect Jean-Baptiste
Dewin. Het bood plaats aan het oftalmologisch instituut van dokter Henri Coppez,
in België een vooraanstaand figuur in dit domein. Dit totaalkunstwerk werd
beïnvloed door Japan en de Wiener Secession. Het heeft een sobere decoratie,
bestaande uit mozaïeken en glas-in-loodramen, en een esthetiek gebaseerd op
bloemen en dieren. Het licht wordt prachtig weerkaatst in zowel het marmer als
de opmerkelijke glas-in-loodramen van dit voormalige instituut. Het werd in 2017
gekocht door Delen Private Bank en in 2021 in zijn oorspronkelijke glorie
hersteld. Anders dan vorig jaar biedt het gebouw nu onderdak aan de klanten en
het personeel van de bank in elegant ingerichte kantoren.

This building was designed by the Art Nouveau architect Jean-Baptiste Dewin and
was built in 1912 to house the Ophthalmological Institute run by Dr Henri
Coppez, a leading light in ophthalmology in Belgium. Influenced by the Japanese
and Vienna Secession styles, this "total work of art" features a restrained
decorative scheme including mosaics and stained-glass windows and an aesthetic
vocabulary inspired by flowers and animals. Daylight is reflected in marble and
in the remarkable stained-glass windows of this former institute. It was
purchased by Delen Private Bank in 2017 and underwent a restoration in 2021
which has restored the original glow and daylight to the interior. Unlike last
year, the building now accommodates the bank's customers and staff in elegantly
furnished offices.
