Partant du constat que son père, de peau blanche, est né en Afrique et sa mère, de peau noire, en Europe, la réalisatrice explore dans ce premier court-métrage documentaire l’histoire complexe de sa famille, du colonialisme à leur expérience de couple interracial en Europe entre les années 1950 et 1970. 
Elen Sylla Grollimund est photographe, vidéaste et animatrice basée à Bruxelles. Après des études de photographie à la LABA de Brescia (Italie), elle travaille à Paris comme pour divers·es artistes dans la musique. À Bruxelles, elle rejoint en 2019 l'Atelier Graphoui, où elle anime des projets de films et d'ateliers, tels que?Mouvement d'identité?(2019),?Et la lumière fût et autres illuminations?(2019),?Ceci n'est pas une fiction?(2019),?Le Fil(M)agique?(2019) et?7 jours sur 7?(Triennale de Louvain-la-Neuve, 2021).? 
Tales from the Source de Léonard Pongo 
Tales from the Source? explore les paysages de la République Démocratique du Congo, mettant en lumière leur puissance, diversité et symbolisme des traditions congolaises. Le paysage y devient un personnage vivant, animé par l’imagerie multispectrale, créant un dialogue sensoriel avec un monde aux couleurs surnaturelles. Accompagné de la musique de Bear Bones, Lay Low, le film nous plonge dans un paysage intelligent et en constante transformation. 
Léonard Pongo, photographe et artiste plasticien, a été récompensé pour?The Uncanny, réalisé en RDC, publié par Gostbooks. Son projet?Primordial Earth?a été présenté à la Biennale de Lubumbashi, aux Rencontres de Bamako, à Bozar et à Mu.ZEE. À travers ses travaux, il propose une imagerie allégorique de la RDC, où la terre incarne tradition, philosophie et visions de l’univers. Léonard Pongo vit entre Bruxelles et Kinshasa, partageant son temps entre ses projets en RDC et l’enseignement. Il est membre de « The Photographic Collective ».

Vertrekkende vanuit het feit dat haar witte vader in Afrika werd geboren en haar zwarte moeder in Europa verkent de regisseuse in deze eerste kortfilm/documentaire de complexe geschiedenis van haar familie, van het kolonialisme tot hun ervaring als interraciaal koppel in Europa tussen de jaren 1950 en 1970. 
Elen Sylla Grollimund is een fotografe, videokunstenares en presentatrice uit Brussel. Na haar studies fotografie aan het LABA in Brescia (Italië) werkt ze in Parijs voor verschillende artiesten in de muziekindustrie. In Brussel sluit ze zich in 2019 aan bij Atelier Graphoui, waar ze filmprojecten en workshops leidt zoals Mouvement d'identité (2019), Et la lumière fût et autres illuminations (2019), Ceci n'est pas une fiction (2019), Le Fil(M)agique (2019) en 7 jours sur 7 (Triennale de Louvain-la-Neuve, 2021).?

Tales from the Source verkent de landschappen van de Democratische Republiek Congo en benadrukt hun kracht, diversiteit en de symboliek van Congolese tradities. Het landschap wordt een levend personage en komt tot leven door multispectrale beelden. Op deze manier ontstaat er een zintuiglijke dialoog met een wereld van bovennatuurlijke kleuren. Onder begeleiding van de muziek van Bear Bones, Lay Low, dompelt de film ons onder in een intelligent landschap dat constant verandert. 
Léonard Pongo, fotograaf en beeldend kunstenaar, werd bekroond voor The Uncanny. Dit boek werd in de DRC gemaakt en door Gostbooks gepubliceerd. Zijn project Primordial Earth werd op de Biënnale van Lubumbashi, de Rencontres de Bamako, in Bozar en in Mu.ZEE voorgesteld. Doorheen zijn werk stelt hij een allegorische beeldspraak van de DRC voor, waarin de aarde traditie, filosofie en visies op het universum belichaamt. Léonard Pongo woont in Brussel en Kinshasa en verdeelt zijn tijd tussen zijn projecten in de DRC en lesgeven. Hij is lid van The Photographic Collective.

Based on the fact that her white father was born in Africa and her black mother in Europe, this first short documentary explores the complex history of her family, from colonialism to their experience as an interracial couple in Europe between the 1950s and 1970s. 
Elen Sylla Grollimund is a photographer, video-maker and broadcaster based in Brussels. After studying photography at the LABA in Brescia (Italy), she worked in Paris and for various artists in the music industry. In Brussels, she joined Atelier Graphoui in 2019, where she runs film projects and workshops such as Mouvement d'identité (Identity Movement) (2019), Et la lumière fût et autres illuminations (Then There Was Light and other Illuminations) (2019), Ceci n'est pas une fiction  (This Is Not Fiction) (2019), Le Fil(M)agique (2019) and 7 jours sur 7 (7 Days a Week) (Triennial of Contemporary Art, Louvain-la-Neuve 2021).?

Tales from the Source explores the landscapes of the Democratic Republic of Congo, highlighting their power, diversity and the symbolism of Congolese traditions. The landscape becomes a living character, animated by multispectral imagery, creating a sensory dialogue with a world of supernatural colours. Accompanied by the music of Bear Bones, Lay Low, the film plunges us into an intelligent landscape in constant transformation. 
Léonard Pongo, photographer and visual artist, has won an award for The Uncanny, produced in the DRC and published by Gostbooks. His Primordial Earth project was presented at the Lubumbashi Biennial, the Rencontres de Bamako, Bozar and Mu.ZEE.
