Schetsen voor de basilica. Albert Van huffel, art deco & 100 jaar kunst en architectuur
Beschrijving

Architect Van huffel does not limit himself to the design of the building. Always looking for the deep meaning of ornament in architecture, this architect is the prototype of the perfect craftsman, who knows how to connect all fields of applied art. The sketches and drawings on display also show his designs of the interior, furniture, glassware and decorative elements. With the exception of a few sculptures by Georges Minne and Harry Elstrom, the basilica is a true total work of art. For the execution, the architect radically opted for new materials and techniques, entirely in the spirit of Art Deco, to link art to industrially manufactured and therefore cheaper products.
The MAMR/MMRK invites a number of contemporary artists to embark on a journey on this subject with their works of art and in and with the context of the architecture of the basilica, an environment that encourages the visitor to exchange and dialogue, or to silence and meditation.
