Sal La Rocca Invit Bart Defoort & Friends Bart Defoort (t.sax), Ron van Rossum (piano), Sal La Rocca (double bass),Umberto Odone (drums) The Bruges saxophonist Bart Defoort brings class experienced musicians to a well-filled Jazz attic for a great concert. Bart Defoort has been a permanent member of the Brussels Jazz Orchestra for a long time and rarely makes his own records, but he is even better live and especially in small venues. They play a series of compelling compositions with tempo accelerations that are rooted in jazz history but sound fresh at the same time. They play some lesser-known classics by Duke Ellington (Blues in blue print) or a swinging ‘House party starting’ by Herbie Nichols from the Blue Note period that is reminiscent of Elmo Hope and Bud Powell.
